  1. On our first cruise my DH order roses and they were in the cabin waiting but they looked like they may have been left behind by the past passengers. He had also order some for his mum and they were beautiful and lasted over a week. Mine only lasted a few days and they and turned brown and dropped all their petals. My DH order another bunch and they lasted for over a week. He still surprises me with flowers but he only ever orders them when he gets on board and I receive them that evening and have never had any problems.

  2. Most ships still require 18plus for the DC. For the CL there is no more age requirement during happy hour because of the complaints from the suite guests about their family not being able to enjoy time together.

    Again.. MOST, not ALL...

In my opinion, a happy hour/alcohol environment is not one for kids, but that is just me ;)

Please don't take this the wrong way as you have every right to your opinion. But If you look at the whole ship you will find people are drinking everywhere and its seems to be happy hour all day long.So as a family its hard to not take your children into an alcohol environment. For the record I have no problems with people drinking they are on holiday and enjoying themselves.I do take my daughter into CL .She is 16 and is well behaved and will give up her seat for any adult that needs a seat.So I have no problems taking her in there now that the rules have changed and I am allowed to.I also didn't ask them to change them. We are all diamond members and I would never ask to be able to take her in there during the happy hour.I also hope they don't change the rules as I know a lot of diamond member that like to go and have a quiet drink with out children around. So these vouchers are a wonderful idea as families can still have their free drinks and spend time together as a family before dinner.I don't know why they didn't offer that to families staying in suites .It would of saved a lot of people being upset about the change to the rule in CL.

  3. The only thing we found strange was when we reached emerald our daughter who had always got a pin when she reached each level before didn't get one this time. When we asked we were told children don't get them. It will be interesting to see if she gets one on our next cruise as it will be our first cruise as Diamond. We don't mind either way as I am not sure what you are meant to do with them. The others are just in a draw somewhere.

  4. I like my own brand of tea and like to pack some just in case. But I have found the tea on the ships to be fine and they have a good selection to choose from.I have seen Lipton tea on some of our cruises but not all.So if your wife really only like her Lipton tea I would pack some. That way she will have the tea she loves if she doesn't like what the ship has to offer.

  5. Hi all,

We have never cruised before and are planning a a holiday in January next year.

I have put on hold room 7138 on the Voyager of the seas heading from Sydney to the Islands Fiji and return. I think that it is call Fijian Delight departing on the 12 th of January 2015

The other alternative is a Celebrity cruise 8 nights departing on the 3rd of January.

We are in our mid 40s and want to enjoy our first cruise and I was hoping that someone out there has been as confused as I am at the moment.

I am leaning toward the RCI cruise and hope that the room is great or maybe I am totally off the track and should be doing the Celebrity job?

I would appreciate anyone's suggestions that are way more experienced at this caper than me.

    Regards

    Ross:

    :p

    Hi Ross

We are in the same age bracket as you and have only cruised RCI and love it. We cruised on the Voyager to Fiji in 2013 and had a great time as there is lot to do onboard and Fiji is lovely. They have some great shows every night and the ice show is wonderful and a must to see. Are you sure about the cabin number as I couldn't see it on the deck plan . So I can't say if it is in a good location or not. When we pick cabins we like to be on or near the hump of the ship as you don't feel as much movement of the ship . It's also more centered to everything if you like to take the stairs like we do. If you have any question I will try and help .I still remember planning our first cruise it was on the Radiance and we had a wonderful time and became hooked on cruising.

    Cheers Trish

  6. I have seen toddlers in suits and if you want a family photo it would look great.I have also seen them in long pants and polo shirt with a bow tie attached and they look just as cute. If you know your toddler is going to be unhappy in a suit don't do it. From experience when they are that young the last thing you want is to be trying to settle a upset baby at a formal dinner.Better to have them comfortable so everyone can enjoy dinner.

  7. We will be on the Solstice in Dunedin on December 30, 2014. The ship is scheduled from 9:00am to 7:00pm. My family (6 adults) would like to do a combination tour to both Speight's Brewery and Cadbury Chocolate Factory and sightseeing also. Does anyone have any recommendations. I've looked at the ships shore excursions, but it only does the brewery and others that I've searched on-line, you must choose either the brewery or cadbury. I would like to do both with a little sightseeing also. Since this is the first port in New Zealand, not sure what happens, customs, etc. and when we would be able to get off the ship. Any ideas would be appreciated.

We have used Good company tours twice and they were wonderful. We hired their van and driver for about $NZ 50 or $60 an hour and Adele took us on a wonderful tour she also booked us into do the Cadbury factory tour and drove us up Baldwin street. You tell her what you would like to do and she will do her best to design a tour for you. We have also done the Train ride and city tour for a lot less than the ship. Good Company cost less for 2 adults and a child than it would of cost for 1 adult with the ship. They also offer a ship pick up and take you into town and you have free time in town. It is an easy walk to the Cadbury factory etc from were they drop you off. They then pick you up in the afternoon and take you on a 2 hr tour before returning you to the ship for $NZ35 adult . They are very reliable and I highly recommend them.

    Cheers Trish

    Hi Greg

Just a question about the layout of the room as we are traveling with 11 friends and one of them in a wheelchair (14 people in total). Do you think we could easily have pre dinner drinks in this suite or would we be best to meet up in a bar.All but 2 of our group has CL access but we had to book a JS as that is the highest suite that has a wheel chair friendly bathroom. And we don't want to be going off every night to CL and leaving 2 people out.

    Cheers Trish

  9. don't forget folks may have a disability that requires the use some of the accessible features that are provided in the cabin. These folks may not be in a wheelchair.

Very true my daughter is one of them .Which is why I said the extra room isn't extra room for the people that really need it".

  10. They do have a form to filling so they can customize your accommodation to meet your specific needs, here the link Guest Special Needs Form.

But when they open up the cabins about 2 months out they don't always ask for the form to be done. My brother and a lot of other people I know that are in wheel chairs wishes people would wait until 1 month out. Before they book an accessible cabin if they are only doing it for the extra room. For the record that extra room isn't extra room for the people that really need it.Also I am not judging anyone on what choice they make when choosing a cabin. I would just like for people to consider that not everyone has a choice when it comes to picking a cabin.

    Enjoy your cruise everyone.

  11. Please before you think about changing cabins think about who really needs this cabin. My brother is a quadriplegic and would love to have the option of going on a last minute cruise but can't because these cabins are so hard to get.He doesn't get that much choice on what deck or what side of the ship he is on as he has to get an assessable cabin or not cruise. He doesn't have the same choice as a lot people of picking where his cabin is. He never gets to say I don't want that cabin because I will hear the pool chairs being moved above or the noise from the bar .Before anyone thinks of changing cabins take the time and considered why they have wider doors and a bigger bathroom.

And then if you then still want to change can you wait until closer to your cruise. As that gives everyone the option of going on a last minute cruise.

    Thankyou and enjoy your cruise

  12. I booked a cruise yesterday as a surprise for my SO and did not want it to show up on his account and ruin the surprise. I used his first name with my last name (they are different), and no C&A number. I thought I could just call and have it changed after the surprise is revealed, but I just read another thread that indicates the cruise would be repriced if a name change is made later and the prices have gone up.

If that is true and I have to change to the correct last name now (before the price changes), will omitting his C&A number be enough to keep it off his "my cruises" list?

I would change his name and C&A now as he would need his reservations number to add it to his "my cruises" list. My husband booked a cruise as a surprise for our Anniversary and he didn't want me knowing the cabin he booked. So he just didn't give me the reservations number and it hasn't appeared on "my cruises" list. His only problem he forgot to tell a family member it was a surprise and I found out any way. So if you can keep a secret all should be good.

  13. I have been looking into the behind the scenes tour but there is not much information that I have come up with, has anyone on here done this and if so what were your thoughts?

They say many souvenirs are given what are these?

I would love to take my son and get pictures of him on the bridge! But for us to do it $300 seems a little steep to me. But still to early to judge this so I would like feedback.

    Thank you

    Hi

Our family did the all access tour on the Radiance in January and it was very enjoyable and I would do it again. We went to the galley, laundry, crew area, print shop, engine control room, back stage and the bridge and you can sit in the captain chair and you are allowed take a photo (daughter love that). We got snacks and drinks in the crews dinning room. But we didn't get any souvenirs.

  14. We love the gift baskets and the choice of drink. We first got them when we turned Emerald. And we choose to get the bottled water which is very handy to take a shore. And the biscuits, fruit and nuts are very handy when your traveling home. So if RCCL is reading this I would like to say thankyou for giving us a gift. They are very much appreciated
