Nice if we could find out who is Voyagers Diamond Concierge. I did ask on another thread. All I got was she was a nice Chinese lady called Pai (?)

  3. Just off the Indy and the concierge was strict about adults only during the evening hours in the Diamond lounge. The guy turned away looked 16-17 . I believe it varies from ship to ship how the age limit is enforced.

    Thanks

We will ask nicely what the policy is and if the answer is she can only come in during the day. That is fine as we don't want to upset anyone. On the Rhapsody last year we were asked by the Diamond concierge why we didn't come in the evening only during the day. We told her we didn't think anyone under 18 was allowed during the happy hour. She said our daughter was welcome in there anytime day or night. Also that things are starting to change as more and more younger people are becoming Diamond in their own right. She said some Concierges feel it is wrong to not let well behaved young Diamond members access to the lounge at all times. But we still only took her in during the day as we were traveling with family that weren't Diamond so they couldn't use the lounge.

  4. 18, or almost 18, I'd say very likely she won't be asked to leave but she will not be served booze. I doubt very much she will enjoy herself and will find herself bored.

    Thanks

She would never even think of asking for anything other than a soft drink. She has always enjoys the company of and talking to adults. After they changed the rules she would join us in the concierge lounge. We always have gotten lovely comments from other passengers on how polite and friendly she is. So we are not worried about her being bored just don't want to upset anyone.

  5. Interesting, my next cruise is with Voyager this Oct and haven't been to their new Diamond lounge yet. It is at the top floor and occupied half of the observation deck.

It might be empty as we don't have much Diamonds in Asia yet compared to other regions.

We are looking forward to the new lounge .It will be nice to have a view while having a drink.

    Hope you enjoy your cruise

  6. Back in March '15...we could still have Diamond breakfast and lunch in the back corner of the MDR. ..with cappuccino if you ask nicely...bit of a wait but worth it...as for the Concierge, she was a Chinese lady called Pai (?), pronounced 'Pay a' or 'Pi a'...talking to her then, she had just knocked back promotion to stay where she was.

Not at all sure about the 17yo. in Happy Hour, but should be OK breakfast and lunch in the Diamond Lounge.

    Hope this helps..

    Thanks

  7. We haven't been on the Voyager since its refurbishment and was wondering if anyone knows if they have made to order breakfast available in Chops. Last time we were on it was Portofino and it was a lovely place to sit but you had to get your food from the Windjammer. It would be wonderful if they now did made to order breakfast.

    Thanks

  8. Going on the Voyager in January and wondering if anyone knows who the Diamond concierge is ?

We will be cruising with our nearly 18yr old daughter will she be able to come in the lounge with us during the nightly cocktail hour. She is a diamond member in her own right.I know some ships don't let children into the diamond lounge at night .But unsure whether our daughter would be considered a child or an Adult.

  9. Just working out excursions for our trip to New Zealand next year and just realized that we will be there Waitangi Day. Does NZ shutdown for the day like some other country's? Or just the shops are shut and the tours still run. Also I imagine each town will have some sort of celebration/event happening?

Never been there on Waitangi Day .But it is a holiday and they do celebrate it right across the country. With lots of special activities going on. Shops still will be open and I am sure with a cruise ship in port the tours will still be running. If it falls on a weekend (which it does next year) the Monday is a public holiday too.

Your cruise is in Tauranga that day so there will be lots of great things happening at the different Moari Villages.

  10. Has anyone been to "Chef's Table" on Oasis recently? Looking to understand the per person cost/surcharge for the dinner "event".

    Thanks!

Only done it on the Radiance but your paying for a 5 course dinner and wine matching with each course. There will only be around 14 guest and the chef will tell you how he cooked each course. You will also learn about each wine and why it was paired with each course. You may ask as many question as you want about the wine or the food. You also get a cook book and an apron and you get to come back and get a tour of the kitchens.

  11. Wow! Exact same menu as we experienced last October or November on the Radiance!

Does that mean it was the same Chef or is the same menu provided each night for a certain period of time?

I was hoping to experience a different menu next time we're on Radiance.

We had chef Daniel from England.

  12. What was served if you don't mind me asking. Or at least what you can remember.

    I still have the menu

Moet Chandon Champagne from France when you arrive to refresh your pallet.

*Confit of Atlantic salmon and poached lobster tail

with a Pea puree and baby lettuce salad

wine was New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc

    *Soup Duo

    Mushroom cream soup,Double Duck Consomme

    Toasted Duck confit Brioche sandwich

    wine Pinot Noir

    *Seared Diver Scallops

    on a brown butter hollandaise

    wine Pinot Grigio

*Slow roasted Veal tenderlion with fondant potatoes and baby vegetables.

    wine Cabernet Sauvignon

*Caramelized Pear over Nougat Montelimar Parfait

    wine Errazuriz Sauvignon Blanc

    Coffee

The Chef does cater for Allergies as we had a few seafood Allergies and He made them something different but I can't remember what it was.

  13. Wow. Was the dinner that long because of the food or because of everyone being social?

Great food and everyone was being very social. They tell you to allow 2 hours to 3 hours for dinner. The Chef comes out and talks about the next course and we side tracked him a lot. We talked a lot between courses and none of us were in a hurry as we were having so much fun. So the Chef didn't rush us through the 5 courses.

    It was a wonderful night

  14. We will be arriving in Dunedin on the Diamond Princess on Christmas Day 2015. We have a question about the Taeiri train tours. Want to know whether the Princess train is different than local tour company train? If so is there a difference in the accommodations on the train?

As it is Christmas Day will the trains run and will anything in Dunedin be open that day? Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think they run on Christmas day and the shops will be shut too. But the train is the same if you book through the ship or book private. The only difference is if you book through the ship the train meets you at the port and you get a box lunch. If you go private they take you by bus to catch the train and you buy your own lunch on the train. We used Good Company Tours and they were wonderful and so much cheaper than the ship. We were a family of 3 and we did the train trip bought morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and had 2 hour city & beach tour for less than it would of cost us to buy 1 train ticket through the ship. I would highly recommend Good Company to anyone looking for tours in Dunedin.

  15. I have booked a Royal Suite on the Legend for the end of this year. Do u get any other perks than the standard that all suites get. Also any news yet on the new suite perks which were coming out late spring???

My husband booked the Royal suite on our last cruise for our Anniversary. The perks you get are the same as if you book a suite. With the only difference being is some is meant to meet you at the port on boarding day. That didn't happen to us at all.We did get a welcome bottle of wine .But we had workmen working in our bathroom for 3 days as the the spa didn't work.We had workmen working on the piano as it didn't work. No one said sorry for any inconvenience. So to answer your question is the Royal suite worth it. For us it was a big fat no and we wouldn't waste our money again.

  16. Has anyone tried chefs table on radiance specifically ideally or another radiance class ship? What's the atmosphere like room wise? If anyone as eaten on radiance lately was was served? Thanks.

We did it on the Radiance and it was great. We had a wonderful group of 14 people with great food and wine. It started at 6.30pm and didn't end until after 11pm. Most of us may have started out as strangers but by end of the night we were all friends. It was just so much fun:D

  17. I just want to emphasize that children are not supposed to get demoted to the level of their earned points. They are supposed to keep the level that their parents had on the child's 18th birthday. Any apparent demotion is supposed to be because Royal missed unlinking the child after their 18th birthday, and the child gained a level they should not have had. The demotion has nothing to do with the child's point level, or lack thereof.

Interesting. I have 2 Daughters and one doesn't cruise as much as her sister and when she turned 18 she only got the 36 C & A points that she earned in her own right so she is only a platinum . Her 17yr old sister is a diamond and should stay a diamond when she turns 18 as she has earned 106 points in her own right. And is not just a Diamond because of how many points her parents have.
