    Dani-

Thank you for your kind words.
I hope that your cold improves quickly and that you feel better soon.

Glad for you and your son that you could make the journey together to fulfill your Mother’s wishes.

It seems that when we return to our childhood homes, the houses seem smaller and the drive to the house seems shorter.

My DH and I were invited to see my parents’ home a few years ago. Looking around, I wondered how my mother fit our furniture in some of the rooms as they looked smaller than I remembered.

    Shalom

LOL. ☺️ My childhood home looks the same. We moved here when I was 11 and I have been here for 54 years. 😀 We are getting it done. The termite people will be finishing up on the exterior by the end of the week and then starting on the bathroom. And the exterior painting contractor came today to give us a (very reasonable) quote. And he is eager to start. We should have spread all this work out more.

They do look too fuzzy to be plums.  Probably stone fruits of some kind.

I hope your cleaning of your house is going well.  We are having some really nice weather lately.

Still packing and disposing away. The termite people started work today. In order to replace the subfloor, they will be remodeling the guest bath, that we hadn't planned to remodel. I hadn't really developed a plan for a sudden disassembly and replace. 🤔

The weather has been very nice. A little chillier today though. Thanks for asking. ☺️

@KmomChicago I'm looking forward to following along, but will have to catch up later as I am embarking on my own cruise 5/20 (Caribbean).  We have done alaska a few times and you made a good decision not to go with NCL.  I found that they dock in some inconvenient places. Maybe it was just my sailing but it seems they fell to the bottom of "best place to park" list.  Royal, Celebrity, and Princess all good.

Don't forget to pack a winter hat.  That wind is cold out on the decks and you will want to be out on the decks.  You can see the scenery from inside, but in my opinion, so much better being outside to experience it all. I haven't been on Ovation so not sure if you can get to the helipad or not, but if you can... great place to be on glacier day.

I had my winter hat alright. I purchased it on clearance at Walmart for $5. It was during their Dog fur/China fur scandal. LOL. Which prompted me to look at the label, which said "Unspecified Fur". It was REALLY cold that year. And I will continue to take it on future trips. ☺️

I thought I read this issue on this thread but it must have been elsewhere.  What I read before is there is some danger in men getting blood from women who had been pregnant…even women who perhaps didn’t know they had been pregnant…so it was safer to ask for male blood for men.  Can’t explain the medical reasons.

    Rh negative antibodies.

I’m kind of bummed because I’m sure I am far enough North and also far out from the light pollution to have enjoyed them but I didn’t know to look for them!  We are in the middle of renovations and I have not read or seen any news in the last few days. I remember the first time I saw them it was so fascinating but that was the one and only time I have seen them around here.

I went out with my phone camera. And I could see the white light, but I just figured it was light from downtown coming up into the hills. There have been lots of fabulous photos. I am sure, that as I get older, I will tell people that I remember seeing the phenomenon. ☺️

I thought it was amazing that 6 days in Rome, and they have some crazy drivers and traffic, scooters and motorcycles everywhere, mixing with cars and busses and trams and huge crowds of people crossing and walking in the streets and jaywalking, and there was not one accident, or person or vehicle getting clipped.
In Dallas, we cannot go an hour without a wreck.

We would never rent a car or consider driving there on our own. The traffic is too busy, and somewhat insane.

ra Deer Park- home to hundreds of deer that are free to roam the place. They expect you to feed them with deer crackers and some of them get aggressive and harrass you and bite your clothing.

Port of Kobe - We overnight here until 4/12, 5:00AM

Beautiful photos Helen of every place! Those deer are really scruffy looking, though. LOL. They might as well be goats at the petting zoo. I still love animal photos. Japan looks absolutely gorgeous everywhere. Thank you for sharing your travels.

We have several of those big ice things near me.  We do have fishing here, but some don't seem to be for fishing and rather just to get ice, like you would get a bag in a grocery store.  Some are in front of convenience stores, and some are stand alone with nothing near them.  They are all "Twice The Ice" from Ice House America, so there must be a profit in these things. Pictures from street view on Google Maps:

This one is near a marina and is more likely for fishing:

We used to go to an ice machine at night to get 25 lb.? blocks of ice so we could go ice blocking at a particular park with a hill and grass. Once you get a little dew on the grass, you throw a carpet square on top of it and slide down the hill at some speed. We also needed some "borrowed" milk crates to carry the blocks. We only did it a few times, but it was great fun until the rangers arrived one evening. Apparently, it wasn't very good for the grass. ☺️

The ice machine is still there, but I don't if it sells blocks anymore. The blocks were also very good for weekend camping with an ice chest. They melt a lot slower than bagged ice.

  9. I don't know much about it. But I have read on here that you cannot use a Visa gift card to set up your account. Because it doesn't have your name on it. What was stated, was that you could use it settle your onboard charges at the end of the cruise at guest services.

I have no idea if that is true, or if it has changed since the post was written.
