Thanks...I'm gonna go ahead and try that route.

Yes. They say that in the letter. But we had the same experience as @smokeybandit. When you call, it hasn't even been issued yet, and have to scan/fax.

Also. You can book the cruise, and then have to FCC applied to it, when it is issued. Ours was for the same reason, cabin flooding. Only we weren't moved. Just fans going and workers in the bathroom for 2 days.

Oh no!! Darn yard work and the after-effects!  Thank goodness you had your dermatology appointment and were given the cortisone shot.  I do hope it works fast for you!

My eye is still giving me grief.  I thought it was getting better finally, and then it blew up again.  It's been two weeks and a day so far.  🥺

I had to get a cortisone shot for a bee sting one time. I am not generally allergic to bees. When I was an insect trapper and we had glue boards inside the traps. This bee climbed out and he was stuck to my arm and was stinging and stinging while he was glued to my lower arm. It kind of swelled up like a football. The doctor said my skin was near tearing in a couple of places.

I was doing some yardwork Saturday.  Trimming rose bushes, etc and now have poison ivy popping up on arms, between fingers, shoulders and the inside corner (near nose) and eyelid.   I had gloves on so not sure how I got on my fingers and between them.

When I woke up this morning I could hardly open my eye, all puffy and gooey.   I put cold compress on then some ice and that really helped.

Luckily enough I had a dermatologist appt for 6 month screening tonight.   All good, no cancer concerns, no scraping.   He gave me a shot and said it's fast acting and should be much better in 1 to 2 days.

I think it was a cortisone shot but he said a name I never heard of before.

Do you have poison ivy in your yard? We have poison oak out here, same difference. But we don't have any in the yard. That is what Roundup Brush Killer is for. ☺️ Sorry you have that miserable itch.

The painters opened a portal today, so we can get out to the backyard and the front yard. The bathroom remodelers will be back again tomorrow. 🙄

  4. I am just exhausted. The termite people working on the bathroom remodel assured me that the vanity faucet would work. I purchased it, but they volunteered to take it back to Home Depot. I just noticed that they left the instruction manual on the new countertop. 🙄

And the exterior painters started this morning. I guess we will be sealed by plastic inside our house during the 3 day heat wave. 🙄

We are still working on packing. 😊

Sailing in July with our granddaughter in a grand suite (it was cheaper than a balcony when I booked it).  When we get to the port anyone notice if there was a line for suites?  The last time I wasxat that port it was a port stop so would appreciate any help.

Not really. There are lines for the timed boarding. There is a web rope for the suite line, and you will have to show your seapass for them to let you through. Look for the sign.  After that, there is a suite check in booth. We didn't have any wait. But that is assuming they are still using the temporary check in structure.

@Coralc I’m certainly no authority on moving and it depends on the moving company you hire . We did move 3 times in 6 years and the movers did empty drawers to lighten the load . They did not move liquids because of fear of spillage and certainly no hazardous chemicals.

Thanks! Not hazardous. I was thinking more in terms of witch hazel, hairspray, scrubbing bubbles and things we will probably take up ourselves. The pesticides will go to household hazardous waste as we clean out the shed. Except for the Dursban. I am keeping the Dursban, and we will move it ourselves. The Metam Sodium will go to HHW, because as much as I would like to find a use for it as a soil sterilant, I haven't been able to. 😄 You have to tarp it, and it smells. And it is pretty toxic. I have thought about using it in the sidewalk/ strip. But neighbors would freak out. 😄

Moving. It's been 97 in dallas. Movers cant move hazardous or liquids. All drawers have to be empty I'm told.

Really? I hope that is not the case. Because I certainly wasn't planning to empty the file cabinet. There is nothing breakable in it. There will be some liquids, but they will be conveniently boxed. We are still working on packing ourselves.

It does sound very stressful Jane. I haven't interviewed movers yet. And this is stressful enough. Your new place should be a breath of fresh air.

The unexpected termite work bathroom remodel should be done by next week. The painter pressure washed on Tuesday and will start scraping, sanding and replacing a couple of vents and stucco cracks on Monday. And then they will start painting. This past month has been awful.

I would actually appreciate 12 to 14 days for the movers to arrive. It is a full house that we are moving to. ☺️

Ha ha, no passports required. The board on the site says its maintained by a trust.

The main point of Runnymede is because of the Magna Carta,  written in 1215 which was the first step in limiting the powers of the monarch and giving power to the people.

An interesting place to visit if you're over here and close to Windsor and London

Thank you, Sue! I was waiting to reply to this post. I just finished "The Chronicles of St Mary's". All 14 books by Jodi Taylor who is a British author. It is historical fantasy. They were really delightful and entertaining.

There is time travel. But described as "historians viewing historic events in contemporary time." ☺️ The adventures are historically accurate, and quite interesting.

But anyway, one of their adventures is King John sealing the Magna Carta in 1215 at Runnymede, and the significance of giving more power to the people. As well as the other historical figures at the signing.

In addition to being entertained, I actually learned (or re-learned) quite a bit. Thanks for posting about it, and your gorgeous photos. ☺️

But now give us the figure you spent to get the $90!  It all sounds good until you do the win/spend figure, the break even figure....so you put in the machine maybe $500 maybe more just to get $90 back and some points?  It doesn't make sense to those of us who have to sacrifice the cruise fund and then play for 3 hrs and lose every penny........like me.....😥

Show me the extrapolation of what cruises you "won" with fares compared with all the money you've gambled..then we'll see.  I've looked at all the material/pamphlets etc and the real money is just not worth it to lose outa my pocket.  I sure had fun though at the magic drums bandit. But I only earned 79 pts or something and it disappeared along with my initial $250 in the machine at the end of March.

It is hard to lose money, when you are just losing money. That is why it is called gambling, not winning. 😄 I doubt if I will ever have enough points for comped cruises. I won $1000 on a Navigator cruise, texted DH, cashed out, and he already had the safe open by the time I was back up to the cabin. I am still playing on that money, on multiple cruises. ☺️

Rather than clutter the World Cruise thread, I thought I'd post this here instead.  The World Cruise just had to skip a stop at Luderitz, Namibia due to fog.  Someone who had been there before mentioned that there's an old mining ghost town near there.  Naturally, I had to fire up Google Maps and find it.  Anyone else have that weird problem of finding things on Google Maps?  Anyway, it's called Kolmanskop (or Kolmanskuppe).  It was a diamond mining town that quickly formed in 1908 when diamonds were discovered and was abandoned in 1956.  The reason that I mention it here is because the pictures on the website look a lot like some of the scenes from the TV series Fallout that I recently watched.  Here are a couple of examples:

Sure enough, a little research tells me that many of the wasteland scenes from Shady Sands were filmed at Kolmanskop.   Looks like an interesting place to visit.

That's cool. Those are definitely the scene buildings from FALLOUT. We enjoyed the series. It was very different. It has already been renewed for another season, at some point.

  12. Have you looked to see if there is a ship excursion to get over to St. John? Once you are over, there are many open air taxis to take you back and forth to Trunk Bay. We did the whole thing on our own once, and it was kind of a hassle.

It would be much easier if the ship can get you over and back, without being dependent on ferry schedules.

There is not much walking one you are actually at Trunk Bay. It is a pretty narrow beach.

We flew to LAX from DEN last Friday (on board now), on the 9:am flight. . Followed signs to rideshare. Uber was $54.  Inc auto tip. We always tip cash so not sure why the auto tip of $10.84 was added and just noticed it on receipt. We were at the port by 10:40,

That's interesting! Years ago, when Monarch OTS was at San Pedro, it was about $50 to take a cab each way to the port. It really hasn't increased much at all. ☺️

@sgmn  Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us, Sue!  I did not know that there was a John F Kennedy Memorial and an acre of land that is American soil, given by Queen Elizabeth when Kennedy was killed.

That is nice and very interesting. But I was trying to figure out what it means exactly? Do you have to show ID to visit? Is the US required to maintain it? Are there flags? Could you run there after committing a crime? Interesting concept.

I'm not being serious; I just think that is such an interesting and gracious thing for the Queen to do. ☺️
