  1. Dont forget you can bring your own soda also (each person can bring up to 12 cans onboard) or order it ahead from CCL to have in cabin waiting when you board. As well as bringing a bottle of wine for each person 21 and over with you. You can also order liquor (limit 2 bottles) for your cabin and mix your own if you want to.
  2. Never had an issue with bringing our bottle or our wine glass full (which we have always had in our cabin no matter the type of cabin or ship) to MDR. Including our last cruise in December on MG. In 20 yrs plus of cruising never been charged a corkage fee on CCL or RCCL. Just our experience.
  3. But I think this may be by design so that people don't have the opportunity to ask about the time they service the room. We still have gotten pretty good service though. We have been on 3 different ships since restart and MG was the last one in December in an OS. I am glad you still got good service overall but we were asked on each ship (first day) when we wanted to have cabin serviced. Right down to the time preference (we prefer dinner time as we know we will be gone from the room by 6 pm each evening). We always ask for a fresh bucket of ice when they service the cabin so that we have for that night, no issues getting it. We have done this for years well before covid, we have no reason to get cabin serviced more than once a day. We would actually find more than once a day slightly intrusive truthfully.
  4. Bring the picky drinker fav soda on board with you that way no guessing or hoping for what they like.
  5. The only down side is i miss getting ice at night. Its brought during the day when im not around and it will melt but no big deal Not sure if you asked or were given a choice for morning or evening cleaning but last month on the MG we had evening cleaning (when we leave for dinner). We asked our cabin Steward if he would fill our ice bucket at that time. We always had a full bucket of ice when we returned later in the evening for our cabin drinks.
  6. If you are getting a balcony for sure then find out which side has the outdoor smoking on it. On MG the smoking side is on starboard side (seems to be that way on many ships) so port may be the better choice if that is a thing for you. We are always port side people for our balcony or suites.
  7. Week before Christmas on MG we had priority debark, notice said 7 am and we were there right before 630 am. Escorted off within 15 mins and in car on road before 7 am.
  8. Was on MG week before Christmas, smooth sailing that week.
  9. Have a more the merrier offer that is pretty good (and better than the welcome home offer from the week before from our last cruise). DH had 2 decent casino offers a week apart once we got home as well (he really did not spend much time in casino on MG last month). Since we have 2 cruises already booked for this year as well as a 10 day vaca in London end of May we did not do anything else for this year. Now...perhaps I may have something on hold for that MTM offer for 2024...maybe
  10. Tea time was on the hub app last month on Mardi Gras but I only saw it on the day of the activity. There was no prior mention of it anywhere that I remember seeing. Seems like if you maybe go to guest services when you get on the ship you could ask them which day and time as well as perhaps some assistance for your wife on that day since she has the mobile walker.
  11. Smoking side is on the starboard side, we always book our balcony or suites on port side. That being said, you can get a one off smoker on a balcony as well (no one is supposed to be smoking on the balconies but you know some people think the rules dont apply to them so keep it in mind). To be honest we have not had issues with people smoking around us on balconies in quite a while (pre covid) but I am sure you will hear from the ones that have more recently.
  12. they cleaned our balconies while we were at sea and left all the balcony partitions open...all along deck 9. This has been been standard practice in balcony and suite cabins, they typically leave a mailer at the door or as they did a couple weeks ago on MG they leave a "balcony cleaning day card" inside on the counter in the cabin. We have always had a heads up the day/evening before.
  13. We were just in a OS a couple weeks ago on MG, we boarded at 10 mins to 11, went straight to muster (total 3 mins) to check in there, then directly to our cabin. Our S&S cards were waiting at cabin door and our cabin was good to go. We were walking around and exploring MG by 11.15 with drink in hand.
  14. Our last 2 cruises this year (last one as recent as 2 weeks ago), we were asked what service we wanted, AM or PM. We always choose PM right after we leave for dinner (we have YTD and leave by 6 PM from the cabin. We have always had this timeframe even when you could choose 2 service times, never, ever had the need to have room serviced 2x in one day. If we need something extra during the day we just ask at that time.
  15. Just got off MG couple of weeks ago and had one of the corner bump out excel suites, loved it! Absolutely loved the size of the balcony and the cabin in general. We were on port side deck 12 (perfect deck for us and we do not use elevators), great views and had no issues with seeing the regular balconies and actually barely noticed. Cant say how the regular balcony people felt about us having a view of them but again we mostly looked straight out and totally enjoyed the 180 degree, curved view of the bump out. We would book again in a heart beat and it will be very hard to go back to regular balcony cabin as far as we are concerned.
  16. Chat is useless but the rest of the hub worked just fine for us on Sunshine earlier this year and 2 weeks ago on MG. We also gave up on chat as it has not worked properly on any ship we have been on in a few years.
  17. You can customize your needs using the travel insurance sites that prepare comparable policies per your filter choices. There are many out there and they will not be hard to find if you google key words like " insure my vacation/trip ".
  18. We have sailed with RCCL and CCL (did NCL once many years ago and have not had a reason to go back truthfully). We like both lines for different reasons. I agree with the posts saying that you should go with an open mind and take a grounded understanding that Celebrity and CCL offer 2 different experiences. The Celebration is a huge ship and there is lots to do (we just sailed her sister ship Mardi Gras 2 weeks ago and loved it!), your suite should offer you some solace and a great escape for the times you need it. Take the time to enjoy some of the things on the ship like maybe the comedy shows (we had 6 different comedians over the 7 days with several shows a day) or whatever your interests may be. The specialty restaurants may be worth the investment as we had excellent food on Mardi Gras. The casino is large, the shows were great and we loved the adult serenity area for kicking back. Enjoy what you can and if you dont like it, never sail CCL again.
  19. Your price/rate will be held for the duration of the hold period.
  20. We were there week before Christmas, DH did a snorkel excursion and DS and I got off the ship and went into port, no one asked for anything. We did hear from someone else that was with a couple that same day, they were not allowed off the ship, have no idea of the what or how that happened or what the status of the couple was. I have read similar stories here on CC as well. We cruised in May (they did require our cards back then etc) this year and now December. No one asked for anything this time around but we figured our info was probably already in the system. Our cards are with our passports and I have a picture of all 3 on my phone as well. Just have something that shows your status just in case I guess.
  21. BTW, if you are owed money on your last cruise day, go to their shops even if you have to buy $200 worth of gum because you will never see your credit. So, if you are a seasoned cruiser you are already aware that you can go to guest services or the casino cashier window and cash out your S & S account the last night of the cruise. They will give you cash owed back.
  22. Read those annual policies carefully - most of them are for medical incidents only, and most of those that are more comprehensive (trip delay, trip interruption, etc.) have much lower limits for both medical and other claims than a per-trip policy. Agree...educate yourself and choose the coverage best suits your needs (or what you would want for reimbursement if possible). We dont do the annual policies and typically can choose what we need per trip (cruise, AI, Europe, land/drive to). We look for things like primary medical coverage (i.e. they will advance money required to admit to hospital as many smaller islands in Caribbean require as much as $10k up front) especially for out of country where our own health insurance does not cover. If flights are involved we look for that added coverage for the duration as travel insurance can cover the period of time before the actual trip (on the way to the vacation). Educate yourself...
  23. Wow...good luck... 4 -19 year olds, no parents on a ship (except your son) with 100s of very available and scantily clothed girls...dont forget they can get into places like the adult comedy shows on their own, some clubs, check the drinking age in the ports...just some things that you should be more aware of since they will be your responsibility during that time. We would do it for one friend but forget 4. My DFIL always said "one teenage boy has a full functioning brain...2 teenage boys together have half a brain and any more than that have zero brains all together...
  24. Our suite on MG last week had robes as well.
  25. This was an unfortunate turn of events for sure BUT I am always amazed for a very small price comparably, that people who cruise regularly (or not) do not purchase travel insurance. If you have flights involved at all it is a good practice for sure.
