  1. Does it have to be the exact same kind of stateroom for this to apply? For example, we booked a mid ship balcony on deck 6. The rates for balconies have gone down, but the only ones left are on mid ship deck 2. Does that still qualify as a price reduction?

No. It has to be same cabin type, same deck, location (Front, mid, rear) and quantity of ppl.

  2. I would switch as long as the cabins connect and you can leave the door open between them. You may have 2 bathrooms in your current cabin, but not 2 toilets. With kids that little, the fact that they usually wait until the last minute to have to use the bathroom, I would rather have 2 toilets available (unless you have 2 still in diapers and if you do then I guess less of an issue). You would also have way more room with 2 cabins and a place to put the kids to bed in another room for some mommy/daddy time ;p. Seems like a no brainier and the money worth it!

I didn’t think about the potty-training aspect. Good point thanks.

  3. Booked my family of 5 (DH, DS9, DD3 and DD2) on an 8 day Magic sailing, with the $50 deposit.

We are all crammed into the 6L deluxe OV with the bathtub to bathe the little ladies.

But now there is another $50 dep sale and we could switch to an OV and PT for $500 more.

Should we switch? My initial thought was we already have two bathrooms and $500 is a lot of money.

but now, after a particularly rough evening with them, I'm wondering if having two TV's more space and a door separating us from the kids would be worth the extra money??

My other thought is that being at the bottom level of the price chart, if any of the other categories go dwn, ours would too. What do you think?

  4. A breach can happen less than 90 days out.

Our personal information is already in our profiles. Changing the check-in window doesn't provide any more protection for that data than before. Also, what about our payment information and passport numbers from previous cruises?

I thought perhaps carnival was trying to save some money with this feature.

If the OLC is part of a secure encrypted database, and everyone has access to input their info from the time the sailing opens for bookings, That’s a lot of info being stored for a very long time, unnecessarily. The “data storage mechanism would need to be of a certain size to accommodate all this data.

As the carnival fleet grows, they would need larger and larger storage needs. If they limit the amt of time this data must be stored, then the required “storage facility” could be smaller.

  5. I have organized groups up to 150 cabins. If you want to send me an e-mail at beverly poitrast at yahoo dot com I would be more than happy to provide some pointers.

    Thank you. I will.

  6. We had booked a cruise for our family and our daughter family with two cabins. We paid the deposit for them under early saver. They have been trying to get pregnant with baby number 2 for a few years with no luck but just recently found out she is pregnant!! She will be seven months before we cruise so we will need to cancel it. I know we lose $50pp and the rest will be future cruise credit (they said even though I paid future cruise credit has to go in their name) but is the credit good for up to two years from the time you book or the time you cancel? We want to hold off a long as possible to cancel so have longer to book for the baby to get older for next cruise.

    Congratulations! How Exciting.

It's two years from Cancellation, I would wait until the day before final payment.

And you CAN have the credit applied to your own sailing if you paid the deposit.

  7. I'm new to Carnival gift cards and don't want to mess things up, so I came straight to the experts here. We purchased AARP gift cards (thanks to all the advice here) and would like to use them to pay for some spa bookings now since they have a 15% off code right now. I'm thinking I would load them into my account and book the spa treatments using those funds. Would this work?

We are on the Magic June 9 and are so excited. I wanted to book these spa treatments in the Teen Spa as a surprise for our teenage daughters and the 15% is too good to miss. I keep telling myself I am really saving 25% including the 10% we saved on the gift card. Cruise logic!

I was going to start a thread on this because I just did it. I was able to book the week long spa pass with a combination of the gift card and a credit card. You don't load the card to your account, you just pay with a carnival gift card.

  8. Hi everyone,

With the reduced deposit sale that is being offered right now, we were looking at booking a cruise for November 2019, which is a little far out.

I was reading the T&C for the Early Saver rate and I can't figure out if you will get a refund if you cancel before final payment. I think I understand that if I pay the deposit today, but cancel before the final payment day, I will receive a future cruise credit equal to the deposit, minus $50 pp, correct?

However, if I make additional payments to the cruise before the final payment date, how will those payments be refunded? Will I receive the deposit back as the credit, and then the payments made back to the original form of payment?

    Thank you!

You will receive the deposit as a FCC for the payee (not each person booked) and the remainder will be refunded to the original payment type (cc, gift card, or check).

  9. Well seeing as how in a matter of hours you've gotten two people, one with two price drops on a single cabin, and one with THREE, I'm willing to bet it's more frequent than your second claim of "ultra rare" and significantly more frequent than your original claim of "never".

    :') This.

I'm just happy that another non believer has been converted.

  10. This is exactly what I do. I mock book rooms in the same category to find the overall price. Like you said, if you are quick and know what to click, takes 5 minutes to save money. I do it as part of my daily routine of starting work each day.

    I check 2x a day. I’ve seen prices change in a day.

  11. If I am looking at it correctly the price dropped $50 on March 2nd yet they gave you $100 OBC. What am I missing? What cabin throughout the process and on what ship?

What you’re “missing” is the retraction of your assertion that it does not happen. [emoji6]

    (I’m just messing with you.)

  12. I don’t understand your point. Pls explain.

If You book under ES the rate MUST drop under a special sale promotion after final payment for the Obc. After a certain time ES is no longer offered.

Are you asking if the Fun select rate ever goes down enough for a price drop.

  13. Several years I worked with a lady to help organize a local fan club cruise (170 cabins)... you NEED to get a good agen who will guide you through the perks. We earned points that we spent on cocktail party and had to organize for the band to play (we used the Lido stage one night) and used the rest of the points to get Band member and coordinator cabins etc... the “partial” charter is a misnomer as the ship will NOT customize an itinerary for the group, but they will block space... but you should NOT be the person trying to coordinate the payments and such on your own... let a non family member deal with the money and headaches. You will get a guest services groups coordinator onboard as a contact person for activities. My friend sailed with the group (they budgeted in a cabin for her into the points structure) so she handled all the onboard coordination... and she said it was CRAZY busy for,her...

Thank you this is the kind of info I wanted to get.

  14. Previous price tracking, research, and past feedback.

I’ve seen a few people here or there saying that the got price drops after final payment but never get a way to check it out. I suspect they paid too much in the beginning if that ever happens.

Now, what I HAVE noticed is that the newer/ upgraded ships rarely have any significant reduction in price. I have a cruise booked on the glory in November. My price has only dropped about $25 overall since I booked last year and the ship is almost sold out. I don’t expect to have any more price drops.

My other cruise is on the Magic. my 4G lido 3 person dropped $200 AND I was able to upgrade to the deluxe OV (6L/M) for less than my original interior price. At one point before I switched to the OV, I was thinking of the spa interior cause it too was within reach of my initial price. At this point I think this sailing is on par with CCL booking expectations because the prices have stabilized.

I don’t quite understand your point here.

Of course it was too high. Price is determined by demand. If the cruise is not selling then carnival cuts the price to sell more cabins.

I’m sure there is some actuary formula somewhere, but we don’t aren’t privy to it.

Also I’m sure what you mean by “no way to check it out”.

What are you looking for as proof?
