  1. I have no idea. Following too. I wonder if this has anything to do with why fare viewer functionality went away.

When is your sail date? I just did a mock booking on an external website for a July sail date and I see 4As available. Maybe your cabin category is sold out??

    Carnival Glory 11/17/2018

I preferred the fare viewer site. It was so much easier to check apples to apples, because you could specifically see all of the prices across cat 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D etc.

  2. Are you sure? Where are you seeing this? Is it due to the free upgrades sale where you get “moved” up to a higher category? I’ve noticed the online TAs do this when you select your cabin type.

Yes. I'm sure. I see the difference on the cabin confirmation emails. For example, an old one shows a cabin type 8D for room 9262 on the Carnival Glory. They newest one shows cabin 9262 8B. We didn't change rooms, we just received the lower price.

  3. My family is booked on an upcoming cruise on the glory. Today I noticed all of the categories have changed. The rooms numbers have remained the same, but the stateroom types have changed. (4A became 4G, 8D became 8B)

Has this ever happened to anyone one? Does anyone know why?

  4. At this point I'm scared of how large my group will be. We booked through a TA. I'm not sure if he booked through the group rate or a promo rate, but my fiancé is a veteran and almost everyone in the group is a past guest. We decided on a cruise wedding and booked last Friday. We reserved 20 cabins for the group. By Monday we had 19 cabins booked for 53 people. I had only planned on about 50 people for the wedding, but it looks like it will be closer to 100 because most of my family hasn't booked yet! We reserved all balcony and interiors because the oceanview are way down on 1 and 2, and we wanted to keep the group together. 14 of the cabins booked are balconies.

Congratulations! I got married on the carnival Pride. Have you checked out the wedding forum? It’s filled with a lot of good info.

  5. I have a question. We booked the Last Minute VIFP Club Offer for a balcony guarantee. We got assigned 8E and noticed a price decrease. Does anyone know if that qualifies for OBC or an upgrade?

Guarantee rates are not traditional price protection because there is not an exact cabin to match to. You’d have to match to/ enter the guarantee pool again.

  6. I'd also like to add that, you can not book online. You and your guests HAVE to call the groups department to be in the group. And you have like 10 days to have at least 8 cabins book or else they will cancel the group.

If a guest books outside of the group, they can not simply be moved into the group. They have to be cancelled and rebooked into the group. It seems like a small distinction, but it's a PITA trying to get it done.

  7. Do you know how price drops work with group rates?

It depends: how did the person book?

I don't know how they work if you booked under the "group rate", given by carnival when the group is established. I am not sure if this rate has price protection like the others (it might be like the super saver rate).

With my current group, no one booked under the group rate. Each cabin was booked under whatever rate (past guest, early saver, military etc.) interested the person and cabin is in the group. Price drops are handled same as not being in a group.

  8. To reserve group space it’s $25/pp. To actually berth a cabin it’ll be the full deposit of the rate you are booking with. So if group rate, $150/pp. berthing is when you a actually put a name to a stateroom. Otherwise you’re just reserving a category of room. You have until a certain point before you have to put the full deposit down. It just depends on the timing. Best to talk to a TA or Group Dept to get all the details and timing for the sailing you are looking at. Happy Birthday!

I paid $25 to set up the group, not $25pp. We booked during the $50pp ES deposit, so everyone was able to select their room right away with minimal costs.

When you are putting together your group, you need to have an idea of the mix of rooms you would like to reserve (Ex. 4- 4G interior, 1 suite, and 2 6A Ocean View and 1 8D balcony). You can not select specific cabins w/o booking AND you can not specify occupancy quantities w/o booking.

  9. Thank you so much! That’s prettt much what I wanted to know! It will be for my 30th birthday! I really wanted the grand suite on a 4 day out of Mobile but I am also looking at other itineraries. Thank you so much for answering my question!

Also the deposit will be the same right?

Pls Note: You will have to book and pay for the suite upfront.

The free berth is based on the average price of the first two passengers and their room type. It's not an actual free person for the cruise. The tour conductor credit/ free berth is a refund after the sailing or can be added as OBC to your acct.

When you call ask what how many amenity points are available for each cruise you are considering. (They vary by sail date and available group space.)

  10. My must have is a LIDO deck cabin. I like being up high.

I've sailed in all types except a suite, and my fave so far has been the OV at the front of the ship.

I visited my friends OV cabin down on the lower deck and the view was amazing. They could see dolphins, flying fish and all kinds of things, but when a big wave crashed against the window I was scared to death!

  11. (Our Nov 2017 10 day was a Journey's cruise - less than 10 kids on the ship; most of the members were Diamond or Platinum and the ship was pretty much deserted after dinner ... it was GREAT).

We had wanted to try a particular spa suite for sometime ... Cabin #12001 or #12002 largest spa suite on the front corners. In order to book said cabin we had to snag it as soon as the sailing became available. We waited 2 years to sail in that cabin b/c it books out fast. On a partial itinerary and ship we had already sailed on.

    Just my 2c.

Thank you. I guess I will need to play around with the site to find a sailing that allows us to book. We are interested in a journey itin, too. But I have a feeling it will also be capacity controlled since it's "special".

  12. Based on that paragraph' date=' are vifp rates not eligible for price matching as they wouldn't be available to everyone, i.e. the general public?

In my experience, if you received a promotion in your vifp account, you can switch to that promotion as long as it doesn’t stipulate “new bookings only”

  13. I tried this with the last $50 deposit promotion CCL had going on. I was told that they won't match the price because its not a carnival advertised price.

    https://www.carnival.com/Legal/early-saver-terms-conditions.aspx

"Early Saver fare is backed by a unique price protection policy (only available to bookings made in USD currency) that allows you to adjust your cruise fare to the best available fare for a like category stateroom (no downgrades allowed) advertised by Carnival and available to the general public."

  14. Ok I get it. That is the case with the current Carnival sale, no obc just price drop. But I see on an another website that gives 50$ obc (which I already have) and shows the price drop. Should I submit the form or call my PVP to claim the 20$ difference?

  15. On one cruise I am booked in a 6K ocean view. There aren't any more available, but the 8A's are lower than my 6K? Am I able to get the price dropped to the 8A price while remaining in my 6K?

On another cruise, the Spa interiors for three people are not available. But there is a 4 person available. Could I add a 4th person to get the Spa cabin, then cancel them before final payment? Would I only be out the $50 fee for booking the 4th person?

  16. You can get 5,000 points a day. Just open a bunch of tabs with the different quizzes (even other languages that you don't know) and just click through them. It literally takes less than a minute just to click random things and submit. It's not like you're graded. You get the points whether you're right, or wrong. That's enough for $1,000 in gift cards per day. Then if you create multiple accounts, that's $1,000 x however many accounts you have. ;)
