My cousin stubbed her toe getting on the tender when the boat was bobbing up and down. We went to the medic because it was sooo swollen. There was a posted sign at the ships medic office, I don’t remember the prices but the fees were really high. The nurse or CNA said it was something like $150 to see the dr, but asked if she could wiggle her toes. Since she could, it was likely not broken so we opted for free ice.

Another time my mom needed to use a nebulizer. She had her own medication, but didnt bring the machine (weight restrictions). To use the nebulizer was $75 for 15mins. Needless to say mom now has a lightweight portable one she bought just for cruises.

  2. I just want to add to what wemjam said in that if you do switch to the GTY rate, it can only be done once. You still remain ES, but once you enter the guarantee pool you can't really match the price anymore because your cabin type is GTY and not a specific cabin (4B, 6A, 8D etc.)

If your sailing is within the next say 2-3 months, then maybe take a chance. Anything more than that I wouldn't enter the GTY pool for only $59.

  3. I could be wrong, but I think you have to pay in full before you can book excursions. That is how it was on my May sailing out of Puerto Rico. It kept saying what you see and then when I did final payment, it opened them all up.

    Interesting.

I have three cruises coming up over the next two years and for all of them I can book excursions, although I am not PIF on any of them.

  4. Hi everyone.

I looked under the excursions section of our upcoming Magic Cruise. There is a great little monkey one that peaked my interest but there are a few people saying the 3 hours to get there and back was a bit much.

I know my kids would love the monkey part so I'm leaning towards booking it for our family of 4 but I thought I'd check here and see if anyone is really all that experienced with this port or this actual excursion.

Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks so much

Also, I did search for Amber Cove as a port in the forum but I didn't find it anywhere really so I figured I'd just ask.

    Chass.

Its under Carribbean, then Dominican Republic. There are a lot of reviews and suggestions in that forum.

  5. I placed a 48 hour deposit hold on my booking last night and paid the deposit this morning. My booking is confirmed but on the Excursion page it's still saying this:

"Excursions are not available for purchase when reservation is in courtesy hold period. Please check back once a deposit has been made on the reservation."

I'm guessing I just have to wait until that 48 hour timer on the deposit hold runs it's course even though I made the deposit and have booking confirmation? Carnival already yanked the funds off the credit card so there's no waiting for payment to clear. I logged out and back in and it still shows it. :(

Did you try clearing your cookies? OR logging in from another browser?

  6. They told me that it applied to my original cat, but I had a 2 cat upgrade done. I was really bummed, but hey, it is what it is. lol

I would call back and speak to another rep.

You booked ES with a 2 category upgrade, but the casino rate only quoted only applies to your original cat?

  7. That's a tough call this close. I have never booked a rate that cannot be cancelled outside the 90 day mark, so I usually book past guest for the extra money. I would probably just book ES at this point.

I'm confused. :confused:How is early saver being offered so close to final payment?

  8. Will I still have price protection if I switch to the casino rate? What if it drops again, will I still be able to get the drop?

Yes, once you book under ES you always have the restrictions of the fare.

If the fare goes down again, you can match to any fare that you are eligible to receive.

  9. Check the pricing of the two category upgrade versus the ES price. Sometimes, you can get a better deal/higher category with those promotions versus the ES deal.

I find the ES Reduced deposit, the best option for my family. I don't like them holding too much of my money in the FCC.

  10. The current Casino promotion just saved us approximately $400 pp for our upcoming cruise. :D Went from $1489 to $1089 pp!! It's for a suite so not sure if other categories (or sailings) would benefit from it too. The Carnival agent could hardly believe it himself! LOL Just wanted to let everyone know so you can check your own cruise.

    I'm on the same sailing.

where did you see the casino rate?

  11. If you received an email you should be able to see what other cabins they are offering. I recently had one and not only was I able to move to a cabin I liked but I was able to switch the offer from a regular balcony to a spa balcony (I was previously in a cove).

I'd click into the email to see what options you are given if you are interested in moving.

    Thank you everyone.

The email included spa balcony and regular balcony. The balcony didn't have options for location, but the spa balcony did. The spa was close to $300 for the upgrade. I could buy the weeklong spa pass in the fun shops for $140, so I'm declining the offer and just buying a spa pass.

  12. That is not the only reason to book cabins that way with an adult in each. The damn website NEVER lets me put my "kids" in their own cabin. They are 23, 19 and 18. Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, no matter where I want to go in the world they make me split adults and "kids". FWIW we have always traveled in connecting or adjoining rooms. The last cruise I took them on this January on the Conquest I still had to call and even then she said because the youngest was "only 18" an adult had be be booked in his room. I know some people on here will not believe me but this has happened to me EVERY single time.

Yes, this was our issue on a family cruise we have planned. Had to book an "adult" in a room with our twenty something's. When I asked Carnival what they considered an adult they said someone over 25, or a married couple under 25.

  13. Just go to guest services and they will give you what ever keys you need. Tell them you want a key to your husbands room and you want your other child to have a key to your room. All parties will probably need to be present at guest services just in case. Then you can sleep however you want. These will be separate from your sign and sail card so people switching rooms will have to carry two cards.

As for cheers, they will not add it on. He will have it on his card and you will not.

I'm sure the cruise critic board police will have some issues on this but this is how we did it and it worked fine.

    ^^ This^^

We did this a number of times with no issues. the key was issued as "Room only" so it was easily distinguished from your S&S card.

  14. I received an upsell email about upgrading my room from a deluxe OV deck two to Balcony deck 6 for $84.

This trip is a getaway with me alone and the little ones. I'm thinking of declining mainly because I want the bathtub and I'm not sure about that balcony door. The room they offered me is right above the piano bar.

If I accept, can I switch rooms to another 8A in a better location? Or do I have to accept that specific room?

Will it really be THAT noisy above the piano bar?

Conversely, what's the view like out the window of the OV room? I figured my children would like to stand at the window and watch the waves.

I've sailed in a balcony before, but never by myself with young children. I didn't really pay attention to the lock. How does the door lock?

  15. No, the agent is correct. The basic inside cabin is a 4A, which is aft and forward down on the Riviera deck and middle on that deck is 4B. The next deck up is 4B forward and aft and 4C in the middle. This is the basic structure. On these bottom two decks there are also 1A and PT cabins, which are both classified as lower than the basic 4A or above, which I am assuming you have. PT cabins are always on the bottom two decks and are always all the way forward, some have twin/king bed setups, while others have a twin bed and a single sofa bed. Because of this, they are lower on the totem pole than the basic 4A and are considered a downgrade. On certain ships, there are even some 1A's that have picture windows. There's an entire thread devoted to these cabins.

I understand the PT cabins are lower on the stratosphere. However, in the OP post, she says that for” an addition xx.xx pp/pd” doesn’t that mean higher category? I wonder what the site was pricing as the basic interior?2"{\•

  16. Hi All,

I am a longtime cruiser and am currently getting a group of friends together to do another cruise in Feb 2019. I was just reading that some cruise lines offer onboard credit for referrals to new cruisers. Do any of you know if Carnival offers this? I've already got new cruisers booked for our girls trip!

About 4/5 years ago Carnival had a promotion where you could refer a new guest and you and the new guest would receive $50 obc. Sadly, I have not seen/heard of this promotion since then.

  17. We will probably do something similar - sounds like we are on the same cruise as you, Liberty, departing Sunday.

As long as there is a short line when we get down below to disembark, we aren't causing the ship to be emptied any slower, so we will have a leisurely breakfast and enjoy one last Bloody Mary. According to Carnival there should be bars open:

I don’t remember any bars being open. I thought your account was closed out by morning?

  18. When the ship gets closer to being full.... I have seen the same cabin (at same price or no more than a $10 diff) shown under 8B,8C and 8D.... Same with insides. I think this is Carnivals way of showing all cabins as people surf their site and since they are shown at equal near equal prices...no big deal

I’ve seen cabins in various categories all offered at the same price, yes.

This is not the same thing.

I have never received a cabin confirmation email refer to my cabin as one category, and then referred to another type in a subsequent email.
