  1. If you are after final payment, yet booked under Early Saver, are you able to match to higher categories?

We don't want to move, but would like the reduction in price.

EX: if you are booked under a 4D interior but the 6A ocean view is priced less than your booking.

  2. My family and I are traveling together on a cruise this fall. My son's birthday also happens to fall within this time. I wanted to have a small celebration for him, but Carnival's event package is way too expensive. You must buy a beverage service which at a minimum is $9pp which amounts to well over $450 for our group.

My thought is to have everyone meet for a pizza and ice cream social. Are we able to order a couple of pies of pizza from the pizza station ahead of time? I know we can order a cake from bon voyage, but the size is way to small for our group? Can we order one of the larger event size cakes? Can we bring packaged cookies, chocolate chips etc for our own sundae bar?

What other ideas do you have? -TIA

  3. My sail date is 45 days away and we just received our room assignment for our inside guaranty that we booked.

We've been assigned to a wheelchair accessible room.

Wondering if any of you have ever received this in the guaranty pool and if you were ultimately bumped from it and reassigned?

I have been assigned a wheelchair accessible room before and was not bumped.

I'm pretty sure Carnival has a whole slew of metrics that go into assigning room assignments. By now, if they assigned it to you, it's probably because they don't think it would sell on it's own in the "For Sale" pool.

  4. Was the price of your room still the same now? Can we still get the obc if the room is now higher than when we booked (with no obc)?

The price of our stateroom hasn't changed, in fact, our category has sold out. I think we got it because we booked early saver, and I asked for it.

What did you put as the price on the form, if your category has sold out?

  5. I don't think you can. The only options I am aware of are cash or credit card, and who is allowed to charge to the account. In order to put them on a cash basis, you would need to open a separate account. Each expense account needs an account owner. Each owner has to be at least 18, and has to be authorized on the account. I'm not sure you can open two accounts at once.

You might be able to put one in your name and one in your wife's, but I still don't think you could ration out by child. If one kid over spends, they all suffer. Might not be the best idea.

But if you open two separate acts, to which acct would the gratuities be added?

  6. Why do you think he should get $250 credit that was for girlfriend when she didn't go?

Some sales have $50 OBC but if you booked same time you should get it also.

I guess it would depend how the OBC was achieved. If it was the result of price drops he should get the credit. If it were based on stock ownership or a promotion, then it would a certain amt pp.

The OP didn't say how the OBC was received.

  7. I have a group cruise scheduled with many individuals who are not US citizens. What happens if your cruise is re-directed to another port? Are you required to have a Visa for that port?

Are you required to have a Visa to enter all of the ports on your itinerary? When exiting and entering at port, I've only had to show my S&S card.

    TIA.

  8.

My assessment being, that no matter what line you went on, if you go with a large group, the potential is there to have a very bad time. IMHO...

My family of 30-50 ppl has cruised together for the last 8 years. I was researching MSC as a possible contender for our next adventure. We always have dinner together, but that's the only "must do together" activity and no one has ever complained or indicated they didn't have a great time.

  9. They are 1,000 points for a $10 discount on a $100 gift card. So you pay $90 for a $100 gift card or $450/5,000 pts for a $500 gift card plus a couple dollars for handling fees.

The 4-7 day estimate is best case if you are buying the $500 card. Make sure you answer the phone when Verizon calls you to verify your shipping address and make sure you're home when UPS delivers because it requires a signature. If you're not home they'll take it to the closest UPS Store the next business day after 1PM - that was my experience, yours may vary. Going forward I'm planning to buy the $100 gift cards over time vs the $500 gift cards to avoid the hassle of the call and being at home for UPS.

I didn't get a call, but I did have to sign for the $500 ones w/UPS. Next time, I'm going to have it delivered to my job.

  10. I no longer prepay. I had to cancel a cruise a few times and it would have been less monies to be refunded.

If you cancel, the gratuities are not completely returned to you? I understand the cruise fare policy, but gratuities should be returned. No?

  11. Agreed. Hopefully that day will come when they just jack up the price and make the gratuities part of the fare. Of course cruise critic would lose this heated subject that gets debated once a month but they'll survive. [emoji51]

I so agree! I really dislike tipping policies. Tipping makes getting good service the customers responsibility instead of the owner.

I do prefer auto tips to the envelopes they used to pass out.

  12. Thanks for all the responses! We all live in the Baltimore area so we don't need the hotel/park and ride. Just most of us are parking our cars and one in the party will be dropped off and trying to figure out how far we'll be separated.

Bigdog, that's exactly what I needed to know! Sounds like if we all arrive at the same time, while we wait in line for them to open for boarding we can sort of tailgate in line car-to-car.

Just curious: Why not Uber instead of paying the parking fees? Parking was over $100 for the 7 days we parked there.
