  1. Details.

Also, talking a Carnival rep into letting someone switch from an assigned cabin to a guarantee doesn’t count. :)

My last cruise I had an 8D two person cabin booked for my parents and a 4G 4 person for my kids. I was in a 2 person 6j/k OV. My parents had at least 2 price drops after final pmt. a military rate the other was a senior rate. My 4 person rate dropped under a more = merrier sale a couple of times. $10-$15.

On another cruise in 2014, three of my family members rates dropped under the VA resident sale after final payment.

BTW: entering the guarantee pool is the only way to get the guarantee rate. I don’t understand your point. You can’t expect to keep your assigned room and get the guarantee rate.

  2. Those "punks" are asking questions and looking for behavioral clues to determine if they need to do secondary screening. Should they choose to be punks, they can take your party to the special room and tear apart your luggage.

People who abuse their positions are punks.

If someone wants to waste time rifling through my dirty laundry g’head. 🤷🏽*♀️🤷🏽*♀️.

  3. Technically, yes. All the way up until 2 days before sailing.

The problem is that after final payment all the deals that are cheaper than your rate are guarantee rates which they don't match against an assigned room. Therefore, I feel safe in saying that it would be super rare to get any price drop after final payment on non-guarantee rates.

On another note: you're not actually considering sailing on Carnival are you? :)

Not true. I’ve received price drops after final payment. I have also had friends & family enter the guarantee pool after final pmt for a price drop.

I think it just depends on how well the cruise is selling at a certain point.

Now, About two weeks prior to sailing, They start rolling out those pack and go rates and those can’t be matched at all.

  4. While I haven’t sailed the sunshine, I did sail the Destiny amongst others.

I can only imagine perhaps the slides might have a size limit. I have had several large family members (300-400lbs) sail with me and they had no problem enjoying themselves. They were able to sit at the chairs during dinner. Some of the theaters have the seats that have a table already bolted at the booth, but often times there are the ADA parking spaces for scooters wheelchairs etc, where a crew member can bring a chair.

I remember the showers were pretty small but they had a curtain not a door. Other than those things, you should be fine.

    Enjoy your cruise!!!

  5. Thats probably correct...Horizon increased capacity to 175 for Havana area. Vista capacity is 130. I believe only deck 6 and 7 Aft facing are designated as Havana cabins on Vista

Thanks. Not to hijack OP but where did you find the counts? I’m interested in the Havana club stats.

  6. Harshness? I didn’t think so at all. Just stating the way it was.

Even if they wouldn’t have been in FH, it would have been the exact same. I let them know ahead of time that they wouldn’t be able to come back with us unless they wanted a Havana Cabin. They didn’t want to spend the extra cash so they didn’t get to go in Havana. Plain and simple.

I get it. It was just funny combined together.

  7. Has anyone done a partial charter for a group? Or have you ever attended a partial charter?

What was your experience? My family and I were thinking we could easily get 500 cabins for our next family reunion.

What are the minimums for a partial charter?

  8. What's "wow!" about wanting the privacy one pays for?

    1. My comment was about directness/ harsh way FBW comments sounded regarding their friends.

    2. I believe they understood that because she responded that their friend had their own exclusive area, so there were no hard feelings on either side.

    3. Stop trying to start trouble.

  9. What State requires has nothing to do with what CBP requires (the best example is that to apply for a passport both parent's names need to be on the birth certificate, which is not a requirement when using the birth certificate for a closed loop cruise). In any event, CBP's website is written so poorly that it is worthless.

And again the OP had what was required.

If a child only has one name on the BC, they can not apply for a passport?

  10. There’s at least one jerk in the CBP at every port. Someone who thinks they know everything

I have encountered many a jerk at CBP. I'm originally from NYC AND often travel to/from the Caribbean. Almost every time I enter the US (via air) I get the interrogation about where I am from in NY.. which, unless you are from there, makes absolutely no sense. I can name any town, how the hell do you know if I'm not lying or not?

    I've been asked:

What do you do for a living?

    Where are your parents from?

Why did your parents name you that name?

    What does your name mean?

Are you married? (maybe this guy was just smitten )

I'm convinced that many of these ppl are the same little punks who sooo wanted to be hall monitor as children, and now get their chance to "protect and serve"

  11. It's a Closed Loop kidnapping.

We're taking our son's friend with us in June. When we get back and go through customs, I think I'll say, "He's not ours. We didn't like him, so we're bringing him back."

I'll decide if the joke was worth it or not after the interrogation. ;p

    :') :') :')

Years ago I took my son and nephew on a cruise without their parent(s). I didn't know about the notarized letter thing, When the CBP agent asked me for it, I replied "Oh, I don't have one, can I just leave them here 'till I get back?" Luckily she had a sense of humour, she asked them if they were planning to behave themselves and let us through.

This was pre 9-11. I wouldn't try that now, though. I always travel with the letter.

  12. I guess you are talking about kids the age they must be 12

Looking at the deck plans for the horizon, all of the aft facing balcony's are all HA cabins??? Or am I reading this wrong.

Seems unfair that one can not cruise facing aft with a child under 12.

  13. your friends will not be allowed with you at the pool during the day. we had the same scenario in march. Oh well, too bad for them. We paid the premium price for the exclusivity. if everyone brought a friend, it would ruin the atmosphere. ..... they were very strict and i was glad to see it.

    wow! :'):'):').

  14. :D Yup, happened to me at home.

I was pregnant and very tired. Fell asleep early one evening. Woke up feeling so refreshed, when I looked at the clock I thought I had overslept. Started yelling for my teen to get dressed so he wouldn't miss the school bus. He was laughing telling me it was 8 in the evening, not in the morning.

  15. I have noticed that the items in the buffet appear to be very similar to what was available in the MDR. Not left overs in that whatever is uneaten from the day before is carted upstairs for the buffet, but along the lines of "Thursday the special is Salmon" and then it's available on the buffet as well as in the MDR.

  16. I guess my question is less with the tip, I have no issues tipping, but more with why is it even needed to use a porter? Am I not suppose to be taking my luggage to the luggage area myself? They are always friendly there and have never acted like I wasn't suppose to. They see my FTTF tag and tell me where to put my luggage. But I never get an orange sticker either.

I guess it really does vary by port.

I cruised out of Baltimore, once, and the baggage handlers were manning the carts during the procession of cars that entered the port. You stopped your car, unloaded the bags and then were either were dropped off at the port entry by your taxi or you could drive on to the parking lot. At this port there wasn't a place/room to drop off luggage. We happily tipped the guy because as soon as hubby opened the trunk, the porter reached in and took out the bags.

Now at FLL, (where we had our incident) the Porters were waiting along the sidewalk. As cars pulled up, they didn't help unload the cars/taxis (at least ours didn't) but demanded tips for placing the bags on the cart. Which is why I asked the question...

I don't remember seeing a room or designated place for bags at either of those ports, but I did read in another thread that in Seattle(?) they have a conveyor belt for baggage.

  17. These are the only two I would consider:

    5 Day Eastern Caribbean

    Carnival Ecstasy from Miami

Going to: Nassau, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk

    Departure Date: June 11,2018

    5 Day Western Caribbean

    Carnival Conquest from Ft. Lauderdale

Going to: Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman

    Departure Date: June 11, 2018

I don't love Nassau, but it can be fun for short jaunt. The Conquest is one of my fave ships, but you mentioned you don't love it. I love the beach and all of these ports have great beaches to explore in June.

  18. Angela, actually she called me regarding my email this morning. One cannot price match to casino rate because it isn't available to everyone. However, some may have succeeded they should consider themselves lucky. If you book casino rate you can't be in the group- which means less tour conductor credit and no gift amenity. Also, you ARE suppose to lose $50.

For my group I'm in control of bookings and making all of the payments, so no casino rates will be used for my group.

    I hope this helps.

I'm glad I reached out to her because I thought I was getting bottle of wine per cabin but it is $50 obc.

I was going to write this same point.

The only other thing I want to add is that if you switch to casino rate you will be considered out of the group, won’t get any of the amenities but may still be linked for dining.

  19. If someone who has a Carnival cruise booked wants to see if the booking was made with Early Saver, how can they tell?

I have reviewed my cruise docs and the current booking online, but I don't see Early Saver anywhere. Anyone know?

It’s listed on the cabin confirmation email. There will be a note saying at the bottom of the page indicating you are booked under early saver.
