  1. I was told by a ncl rep that if the b2b was booked under one reservation number you could keep the account open but if you booked as two separate cruises each cruise was separate. I've done b2b back where i added the second (or even third) cruise.
  2. Does anyone know of a wine store near Crowne plaza Hotel San Pedro? Also store to buy sunscreen? I like to buy after flight since I carry-on only.
  3. You can fly open jaw (also called multi-city) ticket - West bound - fly to European city, take cruise, return to US port then second part of trip is from port city to home airport. For example, I can fly to Barcelona, cruise to Miami, return flight Miami to Baltimore. East bound - home airport to port city, cruise to Europe, fly home.
  4. A logoff issue i had once - when the ship lost signal i thought that i was logged off and all my minutes were wasted.
  5. If you look at the map you can see there are passages that dont involve rounding Cape Horn to get to the Chilean coast to Valpariso.
  6. NCL as a whole has a terrific program for dealing with special needs dietary restrictions. I have serious kidney disease, and each cruise I've been on since post-covid restrictions has been able to accommodate my needs. A good friend is strictly vegan because of a protein metabolism problem. Both of us have been able to get delicious meals. I make talking to the special needs matre'd my first thing as soon as i board (usually can find them wherever they are doing specialty restaurant bookings). Every day at dinner i can put in my diet from the menus for the next day. I loved the Prima menus - very easy to figure out what is possible for the chefs to prep for me.
  7. Another benefit of "not waiting for six months ... " - I find that waiting until after final payment dates can really drop prices as they try to fill the ship, and I'm not particular about what type of cabin. So if i wait til almost cruising time I can find something that works within my budget. But airfare and a hotel for night before cruise can add up. NYC works best for me - no airfare and i can travel day of embarking. Last minute booking is another great thing about retirement - no worries about getting vacation time approved so late booking is possible.
  8. I just returned from the Breakaway cruise to New England and Canada. Before that I was on the Prima Copenhagen, Norway, England, then transatlantic via Iceland. As I unpack my cold weather gear I realized that I am REALLY looking forward to my next adventure - Panama Canal, warm weather cruise. I loved seeing these northern places, but the thought of sunshine, swimming, relaxing in the sun has a great deal of appeal. I started my cruising addiction with Caribbean cruises back decades ago when a rare vacation for a week was long anticipated, planned for, memory-making. Now I'm retired, solo, and spending my life savings following dreams.
  9. Has anyone else found the acoustics in Carneys on Breakaway atrocious? I ate there tonight and left before dessert with a headache. Instead of a relaxing fine dining experience it sounded more like a sports bar on game night. Admittedly there was a particularly loud party of 6 behind me, and no effort was made to ask them to tone it down. But overall the noise level seemed pretty high for fine dining. I have another dinner scheduled for 2 nights from now, as well as a B2B next fall that I'm thinking of rebooking if my experience tonight is common. So I sincerely ask if anyone else thinks the acoustics in. Cagneys on Breakaway is a dealbreaker. Or if there is a better dining experience in one of the other specialty restaurants on this ship.
  10. This thread is the all-American version of other threads usually by CC members from overseas where taxes and service charges (tips) are included in the purchase price. Bottom line, you should know what you are buying, and buy what you like. If you're happy with the product, continue to patronize the company. If not, your failure to purchase again is all you need to do.
  11. I can't answer that, but i do know you can have the drink package removed from your booking. Your cost for the cruise will go down several hundred dollars. Of course if you're really interested in mocktails the drink package may be worth the cost of the taxes and fees associated with the free packages. Personally, I only drink wine, and I like to be able to drink ones I know I like, so I bring wine onboard and pay to $15 fee per bottle. To me, its better to have good wine than on overpriced one from their wine list.
  12. I have never understood NCL's bookkeeping processes - including OBC. I frequently cruise with my best friend. We sign in with different credit cards, each pay half. ...on one cruise I paid for excursions which were later cancelled. Instead of returning to original payment source they gave the refund to her. To further complicate it They they proceeded to bill me for the $50 FAS excursion credit since they refunded her the full cost of the excursion. They have also sometimes given her my shareholder OBC, and sometimes split it between us. Fortunately we just keep track of who pays what and balance things between us - it is too much a challenge to go to customer service and try to get them to set things up correctly.
  13. I've booked interior and I see I can upgrade to balcony guarantee for less than $100 over what ive already paid. It seems a no-brainer to me to upgrade since minimum bid would be more than double what the guarantee costs. Question - which gets assigned first - guarantee room or upgrade for regular bf balcony? I assume that when you bid for an upgrade its sort of like a guarantee in that you have no choice of location.
  14. I used the chat function to cancel an excursion for my New England/Canada cruise in 2 weeks. When i went into my account to be sure it was done, the cruise wasnt listed. I called and was told I cancelled the cruise "for economic reasons." Not only did she cancel the cruise, she made up a reason for it. They were able to reinstated the same booking number. But since they already processed cancellations of all excursions needed to be booked again (and paid for again). Now my edocs arent available again. I sure hope I can board without problem. I think im done with using chat. Because i have a hearing loss i try not to do things by phone but that may be what i need to do.
  15. Like with everything else, we all have different ways of coping when traveling - I'm a low maintenance type of traveler (I have notes on good hostels in some countries). I. dont expect (or want to pay for) all the comforts of home. But I appreciate for these prices you are right to have high expectations! when I travel with my friends we will knock on the door before exiting to a place where I might hit my roommate. Cruising has always meant spacial compromises! Im still amazed at room size for BA cabin.
  16. Bottom line for me - I'd happily book again for the staffing which allowed better service - more like cruising 20 years ago. I loved everyone greeting me by name. I felt pampered! And the food was wonderful. I would definitely prefer a warm weather itinerary - North Atlantic was a mistake for NCL. The negativity that results when the ship is designed for a different experience than the environment will support just creates bad publicity. Future builds should start with Mediterranean cruise from Europe. And somehow they have to figure out the evening entertainment issues.
  17. I thought there was plenty of storage space in regular balcony room (BA). I liked the wire drawers in the closets - I could see everything without having to dig through a regular drawer. Traveling solo in a huge BA I had much more room than i needed. I sometimes cruise with 3 in a room and i am sure there would be plenty of space for all of us.
  18. I loved the art all over the ship - other than the butterfly lady over the bed.
  19. On the off chance that NCL wants to fix the terrible limitation of show seatings on the Prima I think we need to provide a few suggestions - these may not be the "best" options, but certainly better than the frustration of finding yourself unable to get seats for the shows that may have contributed to you choosing this ship: 1) If they cant make more room at a minimum they need to have a broad screen and show it in an open area or even on the unused in-room tv channels. Really, it is beyond frustrating to find everything booked in minutes of the first day, and then to have all the Haven guests filling ALL the seats before anyone else even has a chance, even though they have reservations and stood in line for an hour before the "opening" time. 2) Two shows instead of just one at 10pm might work . 3) Rumors should be in the theater where there is more seating. 4) if Haven guests have priority and fill ALL seats in Syds and Improv, consider for future ship builds take some of the space in the Haven and putting a venue there, eliminating the second class citizen's frustration of not being able to see shows they were counting on. Give everyone equal access in Syds and Improv.
  20. I concur with just about everything being said about the Copenhagen and TA cruises on Prima, but especially on the comments about Syd Normans and Improv. Those venues were overcrowded every night, and SRO, despite having "reservations". The only way that size would work is if all customers had same requirements for getting reservations, and reservations were limited for each performance. If Havan is going to have special access to shows there needs to be a venue in Havan-only access areas. If everyone has same ability to reserve and get into shows they would have to have at least 2 seatings every night like they do with some theater shows. And they definitely have to find better seating arrangement with smaller furniture so more people can sit.
  21. I heard this morning that it hit bad north of Halifax in NS and PEI. But Halifax so far has been ok, but rain still heavy, so flood risk in town for a day or so. Hopefully our Prima schedule will be not impacted.
  22. Jimesops, I'm having a hard time getting photos to the iCloud from my iPhone so I can post some. I have the premium package. I know I get a more consistent wifi from near the whiskey bar than in my balcony room on deck 16, even having "premium streaming" unlimited Any hints for how you're loading photos while onboard? .
  23. internet seems, as typical, dependent on room location. I have the premium streaming pack and still can't download photos unless im near i-cafe, which is conveniently located near whiskey bar.
  24. Today was the first time I used the thermal spa. There are really nice aspects - the varied loungers to suit almost anyone, great steam and sauna rooms, lovely to relax in the lounge over looking the front of ship, though the loungers by the windows are the heated ones that feel too hot after a while.. missed opportunities - the pools are larger than they looked in the YouTube video, but there are no jets, waterfalls, seats or other attractions - just warm water. The smaller area is warmer and shallower, sort of a depth that you need to squat to keep shoulders under water, but too deep to sit in it. with no bench or seating. locker rooms are almost a complete miss. small and no changing area. There are two nice showers, one of which is larger handicap designated. there is no changing area in the shower, and nowhere to hang your towel or dry clothing while you shower. one small bench seat to put on your shoes. I honestly thought that each area of the thermal spa is designed for a short visit. Only the padded loungers encourage settling down with a book.
