  1. When you eliminate the options that you have eliminated I think it only leaves shopping or donating to crew for extra tips. I once had almost 100 left, and rather than buy more stuff i dont need, I gave it in tip to room attendant. While I had doubts it would get to her, I got a lovely thank you note from her, so if you arrange to tip specific people with your OBC it can be done.
  2. Like a lot of others here I don't consider your booking to be "early". Early booking is when new itinerary is added - 2025 booking now. Early booking gives you the most options for itinerary, pricing options since you can look for price drops up to final payment, cabin choices. In the USA market you can cancel any time up to final payment date and get your down payment back, so most fiscal flexibility too. For best pricing you have two options - early booking 2+ years from now, or last minute booking, after final payment, but your ideal itinerary. Or cabin choice may not be available - and if its a popular cruise, prices may have gone up.
  3. On the other hand if you are an early riser type person who dines early you may find the meetings too early (I usually reserve 530 or 545 dining times). I wish they varied the times so both early riser and late nighters could attend a meeting or two. Or even an Open Meeting at the first meeting date starting at 430 til 630 with the attendant there to facilitate interpersonal meetings, coordinate dining times etc. That first meeting can be very crowded with actually less time for interpersonal interaction. Having a staggered start time may work better for everyone. But I love having the lounge to myself at 5-6am for my morning coffee.
  4. You may be able to add steak or lobster in main restaurant if you don't have enough for another specialty restaurant but find nothing on the menu that appeals.
  5. I never would have thought to click on an ad!!!!
  6. My card is BOA NCL card. the link from graphicguy is to application site. When I go to the BOA member website and go to redeem Redeem your points for rewards that are right for you. Choose from gift cards, travel and cash. No reference to NCL. Options are gift cards, travel and cash.Options for travel link are Flights, Hotels, Car Rentals, Activities (activities are tours after you put in where and date. So where do I redeem towards NCL benefits?
  7. I find the opening thread hard to understand. The links provided no longer work - I think they are from 2008 and maybe a different bank than BOA. When I go to the BOA website the rewards. redemption travel links dont offer any mention of NCL. I've over 38K miles to redeem and would like the best way to redeem towards price of an already booked cruise.
  8. how do i use points? I tried the links in opening post of this thread but it doesn't work
  9. About the entertainment - I rarely go to theater shows anymore. The sound systems are so high that sound is distorted and uncomfortable. I've enjoyed the few I really wanted to go to with noise cancelling earphones. My Apple Watch is constantly alerting the sound level is. dangerous. I'm already hard of hearing, I dont need to lose more. Personally I really wish they showed the shows on closed circuit tv in the room where I could adjust the volume to a level I can hear without pain. I love Syds and find the volume too high but not painful. Some of the atrium performers are good.
  10. My son gave me shares for Christmas a few years ago - I cruise enough that i I've gotten more than what he paid in benefits. As far as stocks are concerned i don't think its a huge advantage to a portfolio, but for me its the gift that keeps on giving...and since that benefit is available I haven't booked on another line since i got this stock, so it good for NCL.
  11. You can, then once on board let them know you are dining solo. Or if you have no other plans for embarkation day, go straight to where they are making dining reservations. They dont prebook all available tables, saving some for during the cruise.
  12. I think it's just the same economic facts of modern life as impacts every aspect of society. Who isn't aware of inflationary changes in their budgets? Everything costs more and quality decreased... land and sea.At home or on vacation.
  13. Totally not structured, but this is my choice for undersea bag. Allegiant Airlines Personal Item Bag 7x15x16 Foldable Travel Duffel Bag Tote Carry on Luggage it couldn't be lighter or more adaptable to underseat sizes and shapes. It holds a lot more than you would think, it has a sleeve to carry on top of carryon, I typically have at least two changes of clothes, minimal grooming items, small purse, neck pillow and any in-flight needs like snacks. Amazon sells it for $9.99
  14. Im not sure how many bottles you're talking about, but if it's a case the packaging in the original box should be sufficient. if just a couple bottles I bring bubble wrap in my carryon. when I'm packing I "reserve" space by packing a couple of my bottles from home to be sure I leave enough room then remove those bottles before heading to the airport. Sometimes if space is really tight I'll bring a small foldable bag with sleeve to fit over handle of my carryon in my personal item. Get your taxi driver to stop at a wine store enroute to your hotel or to port. In USA I usually stop at a Total Wines. I've not picked out a Rome or Civitavecchia wine store yet (Anyone have recommendations? ).
  15. I've looked through old shareholder benefit threads but not found this. If you're doing a b2b can you send both forms together? Or does each have to be a separate email.
  16. I hope bystanders continue to give aid when coming upon people needing it. That's the reason good samaritan laws exist. akeka is right - And you don't need to be EMS to stop, say "We're calling for help" and holding someone's hand even though you can't render first aid. Until you've been in need for a calming reassuring presence in the event of an emergency, you won't know just how important that is.
  17. And how customer friendly is it to have entertainment that limits how many can get in so the lucky few have to be physically able to stand in line for over an hour to have a chance at seeing the show. The availability of entertainment is an issue to me. Dont get me wrong - I love cruising and have 4 to 6 NCL cruises booked each year, currently up to Feb 2025. But Prima has design/itinerary issues thatmake it less user friendly
  18. My review from last fall (2nd and 3rd Prima voyages)- had much of the same criticisms. It is ridiculous to keep this ship designed for warm weather environments, on a northern route. I loved the rooms, but felt entertainment sadly lacking. The best shows were at Syds, but it was impossible to get in. We sometimes listened for a bit from the hallway, unable to get in. Regular shows shared my most-common criticism of cruise shows - volume that sets off my apple watch alarm for decibels that are damaging to the ears. As for missed ports, I understand that happens, but on a longer cruise it means more effort needs to be made to have a ship capable of handling entertainment needs for all - maybe a matinee of the syds shows would let more people enjoy a highlight of the entertainment to try torebalance the disappointment of cancelled ports.
  19. I assumed the port in old town San Juan would be where I start my Cruise on the Viva in February, but someone who has sailed recently said that they use Pan Am port for home port location. I like to book hotel near port for pre-cruise night, but now I dont know where I need to be.
  20. While i was reading this i was literally laughing out loud as I thought - here's someone trying to address the issue with data and facts!
  21. I'm not sure of the schedule from Albany but I take a train from DC or Baltimore on morning of cruise - the only exception to my always-arrive-a day-early rule.
  22. if you need more luggage uber can handle it. It's easier to start a trip without the stress of a Manhattan drive. Have one small bag with what you need for the night and change of clothes so you dont need to open a larger bag in a small room. If room is really small ask front desk to store your bigger bag.Or rent a storage locker at Penn Station. But I've not run into a room so small a standard suitcase couldn't fit in the corner.
  23. When i got my first passport years ago i didn't know what to use as a middle name - my birth certificate middle name or my maiden name that is on other documents like my drivers license. I sent the application without filling in a middle name and my passport was issued with first and last name only. Its made life a lot simpler to just consistently use those two names.
  24. I booked a cruise for February to include NCLs airfare, but I think I'd rather cancel that and book my own. Can I just cancel the air or will i need a new booking? I see the fare is significantly higher now than when i booked so I dont want to cancel the entire reservation and rebook everything, just drop air.
  25. there are so many variables including your overall physical condition and activity level, expected extent of surgical procedure, your current mobility. I would say ask your surgeon if they think you will be fit to travel in 7 weeks. On the otherhand, if you are prepared to take it easy and relax the vacation environment may help your mental wellbeing.
