  1. 😂😂😂 I was going to ask JP whether it was overcooked.
  2. Pretty much. If a man wants to dine in Atlantide on a formal night, he needs to have a tie and be a gentleman. So simple.
  3. Yes We have our TA do it for us. You can also contact Special Services directly if you wish. I just like the assurance I get knowing our TA has taken care of our requests for us.
  4. It all depends on where you are sailing. For instance in the Caribbean you may find and endless supply of fresh shellfish, Jamaican Rice and Peas which contain absolutely no peas as is tradition, Jerked Chicken, Roasted Suckling Pig, Cabrito, Pepperpot, Arroz con Dulce, Turrón, and Coquito.
  5. According to Silversea: 1. Nearly 1:1 staff to guest ratio 2. Lavish surroundings 3. Spacious accommodations that all include butler service 4. Most are ocean-view suites that include private verandas 5. All inclusive fare that includes almost all of your discretionary onboard expenses 6. Door-to-Door fares for the majority of passengers which includes complete transportation services 7. Culinary excellence available 24/7 including premium beverages and complimentary sustainable caviar on-demand at anytime
  6. Thx for sharing. Always interesting to read what a first time cruiser expects versus the reality of what is known by others who have sailed before.
  7. You don’t have to submit a request in advance for a brand normally carried onboard. Just let your Butler know upon embarkation and a fifth will magically appear in your suite.
  8. Okay. Thank you for the clarification. My confusion stemmed from the question “Should we try/ hope for an upgrade?” as the term “upgrade” tends to imply a better product for free, i.e. I was upgraded from coach to first class. Now I understand your question was merely wondering whether paying for a larger suite, i.e. Silver from a Deluxe Veranda is worth it. Like food, you’ll find such a question is highly subjective and hence, you should expect the same from the responses you receive. Only you can determine if double the living space is worth more than double the price.
  9. Yes, we requested in advance. Always greater than 90-days. Absolutely. SS always asked how many cases we wanted on the ship, so it’s easy to customize an order.
  10. As a passenger who has only sailed SS once in their life, why would you expect the possibility of an upgrade for booking a suite on deck 6?
  11. All depends which one you request. I guarantee you there are several you wouldn’t get for free, no matter how nicely you requested it.
  12. Yes, there is an expiration date as I noted in my post. The expiration date is for a new booking, not when the cruise is actually taken.
  13. I wonder if the equity markets are aware how RCL accounts for the FCCs that are still floating around in their system and whether future revenue will recover as quickly as they estimate relative to current revenue? The reason I ask is because I just learned that SS will not accept a FCC for use as a deposit on a future voyage unless the value of the FCC exceeds the entire value of the new voyage. Therefore, if the FCC value is less than the cost of the new voyage, the passenger must pay the deposit in new funds and the FCC is applied to the remaining balance due. As a result, current revenue on the income statement is definitely higher than it would otherwise be had the FCCs been applied on a FIFO basis instead of LIFO. In our case, we had to come up with cash today (the day our FCC expires from a 2020 voyage that we had fully paid for in 2018 to receive the 10% EBB promotion offered back in those days) to pay the entire deposit on the new voyage, then the value of our FCC gets applied to the final payment due date in 2025. So, by the time our FCC is used, SS will have had our money for 7-years. Pretty amazing.
  14. I don’t know. By that logic, do they count Lois or Jolly’s cabin as 50% occupied when they sail?
  15. How is an occupancy rate > 100% possible? Placing passengers in housekeeping closets or in the engine room?
  16. Absolutely not. Why? Because jackets are never required on an expedition voyage.
  17. Agree. Making a decision on whether to sail SS by asking people what they think about looking at other cruise lines in a Silversea forum is a folly for fools.
  18. Hmmm… there’s RachelG who is a doctor from Oklahoma whose husband is a lawyer and gentleman rancher. Could it be George you’re thinking of?
  19. A reporter recently asked Michael Jordan whether he thought the Bulls teams of the 90s could beat Steph Curry’s Warriors teams of today who have won 6 of the last 8 NBA Championships? MJ: Yes. Most definitely. Reporter: By how many points? MJ: 2 or 3 points. Reporter: Why do you think the game would be so close? MJ: Well, most of us are nearly 60 now.
  20. You are very right! When we’ve done the same on an item not normally stocked, SS told us what the cost would be about 100-days in advance, which we happily paid. Pre-Covid, most F&B items were procured roughly 90-days in advance. Today, I wouldn’t be surprised if those timelines have been pushed to 6-months for cruise lines. I realize some in the general public, like Ben, think supply chain issues is a par-for-the-course excuse, but as someone who works in the business, I can tell you they are real. I don’t have a single Client who hasn’t already placed orders through at least the first six months of 2024. And, for those here who know Silver Princess, her global sourcing department is already pre-planning 2025 production now.
  21. Yes, we noted the same thing here in the States for voyages we have been considering. For example, an replica voyage on Ray in ‘25 vs. Nova in ‘24 is $1,000 more per person in ‘25. However, the air credit is 73% more generous, which is nice. And, clearly, SS has decided that demand for the super large suites is inelastic to price.
  22. You do understand the reason for this one off decision for lunch in Kaiseki, correct? And, surely, you are cognizant that Covid is still impacting ship crews and wouldn’t want to be served by someone who had possibly been exposed. As such, I hope you will be able to deal with any irksome little discrepancies from time-to-time. SS crew members remain under enormous stress and I for one think they do one hell of job making your time aboard as enjoyable as possible. So please, give them a break from matters you may find irksome, but that are truly trivial in nature due to circumstances beyond their control.
