I tried to trade the mini bar setup for a bottle of Crown and they wouldn't go for it. I purchased the Crown and I think I still have most of the mini bar setup at home. 😉

We've sailed the Island before and after her modifications, and also sailed the Coral. Coral remains our favorite. I would only choose Island again as a second choice or discounted price, but wouldn't rule her out.

I love bacon, but I've learned not to bother with it on a Princess cruise!

Once you've signed up for the military OBC it will automatically show up on each cruise thereafter. And you don't have to be active, all you need is the DD214.

We have cruised the island before and after her mod., and would probably cruise her again if she was the only ship to suite our needs, but given the choice between Coral and Island, we'll take Coral every time.

Fire doors in the hallway between cabins doesn't mean the balcony dividers can't be opened. The dividers are in no way fire barriers, open or not. We've been there and our divider did open.

Does Princess do EZ check in Seattle?

Our experience on Island, they called us and asked what day, time and which venue.

According to the Princess website:

 

"Princess is pleased to offer a special military personnel onboard credit program. This program is available to active military,retired military and disabled military veterans with proper identifcation in the following service divisions: United StatesArmy, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard or Reserves, Canadian National Defense and the British Army,Royal Marines, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force or Reserves."

Therefore if he is a Veteran with less than 20 years of service (Retired), he is not eligible for this promotion. At least that is what I read. Active Duty, Retired and Disabled only qualify.

Unless it has changed recently, the above is incorrect. I had 4 years of active service almost 60 years ago and I do receive the MOBC. (Thank you Princess)

You can take an excursion that will land you on a glacier and include a dog sled ride on the snow, doesn't mater which month you choose.

Aug is our wet month and was quite rainy this year. (I live in Alaska).

At Portage just thru the tunnel from Whittier there are glaciers you can hike to.

We had the same soot problem in suite A729 on the Island Princess (uncovered aft balcony) on our Alaska cruise last year. The covered balcony below us didn't notice any.

Our recent experience with CG varies from ship to ship. On Ruby, it was first class, we would do it again in a heart beat (and did). On the Grand, not so much.

Regular balcony---not sure what is 'regular' exactly....but this was the Emerald deck, also has footstools as in the attached picture.

Same on the larger Caribe deck balcony.

For our one and only suite on the Island, they called us on the first day and set it up for the time and day of our choice.

The wake noise sounds like a waterfall, we like it.

My son made us a gift of a Crown Grill dinner, and the ship didn't get the info (we weren't on the list), I had the letter, but it took them a few minutes to straighten it out. I would wait and handle it onboard.

On board you can log onto the ship website (i.e. caribbean.princess.com) using your browser and get a lot of information like the daily events, see your folio, find locations on the ship etc. It is all free and very useful. You can also log onto the Princess.com website and even book future cruises. I use my cell phone a lot while on the ship in airplane mode.

On my I-phone, when you switch to airplane mode it also turns the wifi off, and wifi needs to be turned back on to use the ships website.

In the photo you can see the bridge support on the left side, and another railing in the foreground. If the guy falls, he'll land on a deck about 3 or 4 feet below.

We will be on the Crown next week and I ordered a bucket of beer for the room so we have refreshments while unpacking. According to the beverage order these are going to be 16 oz. aluminum cans. thanks for the heads up about the door in case I have been misinformed.

For pre ordered you have to call room service to have it delivered, and that first day they are very busy. could be a problem for unpacking.:')

Yes. It is offered both in advance and onboard so you can pre-purchase or purchase on the ship. Of course you can do it over and over and over... :cool:

 

You can also get two beers for the price of one plus one dollar twice a day. There is a BOGO twice a day where you buy one drink in the bar and get the second one for one dollar.

I've also purchased a bucket of beer at the happy hour and got the second bucket for $6. Note that there is no opener in the room, but the top of the bathroom door works. The steward would probably be happy to get you one.

No problem, just call room service when you want it. You'll also need to call room service to have the pre-ordered one delivered, and they will be very busy the first day.

Yes, the bottle is smaller than normal.
