My wife and I took land vacations exclusively until 2012, then discovered cruising. Oh, do we love to cruise! That being said, we still take land vacations each year with family. Best of both worlds!

We have the four-night plan on both of our January cruises. When I booked on the website, I was given the option of choosing the first or second night for the required reservation, along with a choice of times. The other reservations will be completed once we get onboard. I do wish we could choose which restaurant we get for the first/second night. From what I understand, Tuscan is usually chosen and I wanted to save them for later in the trip. Regardless, we can't wait for January! :)

Sound volumes haven't bothered me, but the choice of music certainly has. I'll simply choose another bar/venue if that is an issue. As someone else mentioned, I think that sensitivity to sound varies with the individual, just like temperature sensitivity. My wife freezes where I'm comfortable and is comfortable where I'm hot. My mom was on my Alaska cruise and thought the sound levels were way too high. The other seven of us couldn't understand why until she figured out she needed to adjust her hearing aid. Problem solved, for her anyway! YMMV.

Love both. My vote is Tuscan as well.

We had an OTW Nellie's Beach cabana in January 2014 and it was wonderful, and included the upgraged buffet. We've now booked an OTW Nellie's Beach cabana for our January 2016 cruise. Even without the upgraded buffet it is worth $255 to us. $500? No way, but we were able to book it for the $255 price. We can't wait!

Welcome back! Add me to the ever growing list of those who'd like a comparative review. :)

Using the luggage valet service when available for your checked luggage is wonderful! No need to pick up luggage at the pier or check at the airline. You won't see your luggage until your final destination. Well worth the nominal fees for time and backs saved.

Tuscan on the Solstice this past August. We were a party of eight and had made reservations for Tuscan months in advance since we wanted our group to eat there on the first formal night. I stopped by on during the day we were supposed to dine and somehow the four reservations weren't linked. As this was first formal night they were booked solid and already had a plan in place for their evening reservations. Staff looked at their seating charts and didn't seem too secure in telling us that they would take care of us. That evening, our table was perfect and service even better. Kudos to their entire staff for making our evening truly amazing.

I just reserved an OTW Nellies cabana for my 1/10/16 Celebrity Silhouette cruise for $255. I was unable to book prior to today and am a happy camper!!! :)

Just reserved an OTW cabana on Nellies for $255! Unable to book last week and many weeks earlier as it said to book onboard. Glad they've opened them to online bookings! Oh, and I'm on Celebrity Silhouette sailing 1/10/16. :):)

Can assure you that you can book on board as Reidel participation is very low. ....always less then 10 people.
Agreed. I've been to three and there were always extra setups of glasses that went unused. No need to book early and easy to book on board.

In August, they had a one page menu of Molecular drinks, one page of World Class, and a page of drinks created by Loida, their bartender. Her drinks were the best, especially the Velvet Revolver. We really enjoyed the bar!

Brilliant! Thank you for this!

Mast Grill. Fresh and hot!

Add me to the group that can't wait for Voom on Celebrity. While I disconnect from everything work-related while on vacation, my FIL is in poor health and being able to check in easily and cheaply would be wonderful.

Wish they'd show up for sale for my January Celebrity cruise. Still greyed out and a red box telling me to purchase on-board. I'll keep checking!

Zero so far. I also stay away from the elevator and many (not all) of the desserts.

I know, worms, but the can is open. Oh wait, I opened it:eek: Are you sure it was fresh squeezed or as Cle-Guy said, frozen fresh squeezed?
You didn't notice that fresh squeezed was in quotes? ;)

We did the catamaran glacier tour on the Juneau date. The catamaran brought us back to the ship and we were told by Celebrity staff that if we wanted to tender to Juneau after the tour to keep our tour sticker and that would allow us to move to the front of the line whenever we decided to tender in. It worked like a charm for my group of eight. Good thing, as the line was still rather long.
If you aren't on the catamaran tour, I agree with the recommendations already given.

On my August cruise they had "fresh squeezed" OJ in the MDR at breakfast. Cold and I thought it was rather tasty!

Now the drink prices, THAT might be considered robbery! :D

The problem with these refrigerators is that they are kept in an enclosed space, which heats up from the workings of the refrigerator. These are designed to cool items only a certain number of degrees cooler than the outside air. If the outside air is already warm due to the enclosed space, you get cool, not cold.
I have one of these in my office and items in it are quite cold. Of course, my office is called the meat locker by my staff! :D

I've confirmed with Celebrity, via email, twice in the past few years that the room service staff is included in the pool which shares the standard daily gratuities. With that said many cruisers, including us, do tip a bit extra on delivery. But that is personal choice and no one should feel on obligation to do so nor should they feel they are stiffing the staff if they don't tip extra.
Thanks for the correction. I was apparently misinformed! :) I'm not going to change my current tipping protocol. As you said, it is a personal choice!
-
My understanding is that room service is not included in the paid gratuities. We tip for deliveries, from two dollars for coffee and danish to $5 for a complete breakfast.

I concur with what others have said. They should be there in 2-4 weeks. I'd check back if they aren't there in 30 days. You should be fine. :)
