  1. We have the four-night plan on both of our January cruises. When I booked on the website, I was given the option of choosing the first or second night for the required reservation, along with a choice of times. The other reservations will be completed once we get onboard. I do wish we could choose which restaurant we get for the first/second night. From what I understand, Tuscan is usually chosen and I wanted to save them for later in the trip. Regardless, we can't wait for January! :)

  2. Sound volumes haven't bothered me, but the choice of music certainly has. I'll simply choose another bar/venue if that is an issue. As someone else mentioned, I think that sensitivity to sound varies with the individual, just like temperature sensitivity. My wife freezes where I'm comfortable and is comfortable where I'm hot. My mom was on my Alaska cruise and thought the sound levels were way too high. The other seven of us couldn't understand why until she figured out she needed to adjust her hearing aid. Problem solved, for her anyway! YMMV.

  3. We had an OTW Nellie's Beach cabana in January 2014 and it was wonderful, and included the upgraged buffet. We've now booked an OTW Nellie's Beach cabana for our January 2016 cruise. Even without the upgraded buffet it is worth $255 to us. $500? No way, but we were able to book it for the $255 price. We can't wait!

  4. Tuscan on the Solstice this past August. We were a party of eight and had made reservations for Tuscan months in advance since we wanted our group to eat there on the first formal night. I stopped by on during the day we were supposed to dine and somehow the four reservations weren't linked. As this was first formal night they were booked solid and already had a plan in place for their evening reservations. Staff looked at their seating charts and didn't seem too secure in telling us that they would take care of us. That evening, our table was perfect and service even better. Kudos to their entire staff for making our evening truly amazing.

  5. We did the catamaran glacier tour on the Juneau date. The catamaran brought us back to the ship and we were told by Celebrity staff that if we wanted to tender to Juneau after the tour to keep our tour sticker and that would allow us to move to the front of the line whenever we decided to tender in. It worked like a charm for my group of eight. Good thing, as the line was still rather long.

If you aren't on the catamaran tour, I agree with the recommendations already given.

  6. The problem with these refrigerators is that they are kept in an enclosed space, which heats up from the workings of the refrigerator. These are designed to cool items only a certain number of degrees cooler than the outside air. If the outside air is already warm due to the enclosed space, you get cool, not cold.

I have one of these in my office and items in it are quite cold. Of course, my office is called the meat locker by my staff! :D

  7. I've confirmed with Celebrity, via email, twice in the past few years that the room service staff is included in the pool which shares the standard daily gratuities. With that said many cruisers, including us, do tip a bit extra on delivery. But that is personal choice and no one should feel on obligation to do so nor should they feel they are stiffing the staff if they don't tip extra.

Thanks for the correction. I was apparently misinformed! :) I'm not going to change my current tipping protocol. As you said, it is a personal choice!
