  1. Same here.... "Riiiiichard !!! mind the bicycle...."😉 So glad you've found your glasses. Really annoying when a favorite item gets lost.
  2. I know....😢😢😢 It's just that starting Sept. 15th (Jewish New Year) it will be almost a full month of holidays and since our national airline doesn't fly on holidays AND on Saturdays...., it will be impossible to leave (or return) without paying exorbitant prices for air tickets.... Everyone will take advantage of holidays and bridges to fly abroad, while lots of Jewish people coming "to do" the holidays here, schools out, etc. The only window we have is Sept. 2 to 9.....
  3. So happy. I spoke with my cousin this morning. She lives in Germany, and we're like "big" sister and "little" sister, both being only child to our mothers, who were very close, despite the geographical distance. After fearing Covid for the last 3.5 years, she and her DH had "finally" caught it... And NOW they're ready to travel and cruise again 😁 We've cruised with them twice already, and it will be an opportunity to meet, after the long years of pandemic. I went straight to "work" and found a cruise which will fit, hopefully, both our wishes and schedules. It is with Celebrity Edge and I was wondering if it's the one Deb & Andy will be in ( @Momof3gurlz), but went back a hundred posts and found out that theirs is leaving from Rome. We'll finalize our plans in the next few weeks, but I'm really happy to reunite with my cousin and having a cruise to look forward to ( 🤞 @Ourusualbeach).
  4. Since DH is also "dabbling" in photoshops, I very enthusiastically showed him the new feature. He mumbled some unintelligible words under his [non-existing] moustache... and showed me several photoshopped pics of his... Turns out he managed to buy some time ago such an app. @bobmacliberty Bob, DH kindly ask you if you can show him the "process" of photoshopping 2 pics with minimal difference & contrast between them, to see how much better this "Beta" is working, thanks. Peggy cove lighthouse (also for OB @Ocean Boy 😉)
  5. Since your time in Venice is quite limited, don't waste so much time going to and back from the train station, I can highly recommend a budget friendly hotel in Venice. Excellent location, a mere 3 mins walk (no bridges and stairs involved) from the Alilaguna Blu stop at San Zaccaria. Very convenient from and to the airport - hotel Fontana https://www.hotelfontana.it/en/
  6. Are you sure? 😉 Eagerly following along and wishing you a very enjoyable trip. If I may offer some advice, since I've stayed in Mestre, as well as in Venice....I would switch to a hotel in Venice. Technically, it is 10 mins train time from Mestre to Venice, but the train station is quite far from the center, and you have to be there at least 10 mins before, and also not all trains stop in Mestre. It is a huge difference in terms of experience between Mestre and Venice.
  7. It was always a ONE WAY bus transportation, though lately there have been some reports that SOME tours are R/T. Personally, I'll double and triple check this issue. I have to mention that if you're going in Nov., I doubt there will be long lines taking the cable car down.
  8. @aussielozzie18 , "aussie", Thank you for those amazing pics. I've shown your pics to my DH (amateur photographer) and he said "they're very good quality pics" 👍
  9. Mark, wishing your daughter lots and lots and lots of health, good news and a lovely celebration 🌺 And, of course, happy belated birthday to Ricky 😘
  10. Highly recommended. Excellent views for FREE in VENICE 😉 Booking on line was easy. Be there at least 15 mins before your scheduled time.
  11. We were on a land vacation in Crete, and just took a regular boat to Spinalonga. The travel time was 5-7 mins. We bought the tickets on the dock.
  12. I've been to Oia twice. First time -- took a "quick" boat to Oia (waited inside the boat more than 40 mins until the boat was full....), walked to the bus uphill, bus to Oia, where there was a short walk to the center. After 2-3 hours, back to the place where the bus to Fira was waiting, and on arrival at Fira, on my own. Waited almost 2 hours in line to go down with the cable car. 2nd time I was "clever". Booked the "Oia on your own" through the ship, priority tendering to Athinios port. It was quick and well organized. I really don't remember if I had to go far to board the waiting bus to Oia. What I remember vividly is that the bus left us in a parking lot at least 10 mins walk to the center of Oia. We were given 2.5 hours to wander, and then walking back to the bus. Same bus left us in Fira, and again, quite a walk to Fira "center" from the bus' parking lot. Then you have to find your way to the cable car station. We were given vouchers for the cable car, but we still had to wait in the long line....
  13. Very worth going. I went in 2012 on Xpedition. I'm a good swimmer, swimming laps every day in our communal Olympic pool. Exercised some snorkeling in the pool before the cruise (didn't snorkel before this) and I was good to go.... or so I thought 😉 Alas, when I entered the sea, the waves were too much for me and I gave up.... Still, I took the 2 tours per day, and only missed the 3rd tour, which was for the experienced snorkelers. It was an once in a life time trip, and I fulfilled a childhood dream to be close to seals and wildlife in general.
  14. Indeed, the prices of airfare have shoot through the roof. Just read an article that they've gone up 30%. I have cruise friends who prefer to cruise much more than us, in inside cabins and always looking for a cheap deal on airfare. Lately, they found a KLM deal (TLV-NY), with a layover of 10 hours in Amsterdam both ways for less than 700$. They took the train into the city and wandered for a few hours. Just sayi.... Not for us, though. Once a year, in a balcony, and a direct flight. BTW, we're off to Modi'in today, to baby sit for a couple of days, while DS2 + DIL are off also to Amsterdam and other cities in Holland, to "check the water" re: moving there.... So sad. + 4 😢 You sure are. + 1 @Lionesss
  15. Bonnie, look at the recipe again. I promise you it is not difficult at all. Just drain the yogurt and the cheese for a whole night, then chop the biscuits for the basis (the "machine" does it....), and then all the ingredients mixed in the mixer. 15 mins at 200C, 80 mins at 100C, 30 mins left inside the oven. That's it.😘
  16. I've done my best to translate (Google...) and to convert (as I understand, converting has much to do with the ingredient -- so a "cup" of sugar is not as a "cup" of flour...) as much as I could. The yogurt comes in a... bucket like this (600 gr each). Drums please... THE recipe -- Dani’s yogurt and cream cheese cake Materials for a spring mold with a diameter of 26 cm For the bottom * 250 grams of Petit beurre biscuits, coarsely broken * 100 g soft butter and a little more for greasing the pan * 3 tablespoons (60 grams) of honey For the cake * 2 buckets (1.2 kg) Greek yogurt 10% * 3 cups (600 grams) New York cream cheese 30% * 1 cup (200 grams) of white sugar. I only put 180 grams. * 3 tablespoons (25 grams) sifted cornflour * 1 teaspoon of real vanilla extract * ¼ teaspoon of salt * 5 eggs (Large) To serve (optional) ¼ cup liquid honey or chopped pistachios Preparation 1. The night before baking: Line a large strainer with a diaper cloth and place the strainer over a bowl. Put Greek yogurt and cream cheeses in a cloth and transfer to the refrigerator overnight to drain liquids. 2. Prepare the cake: Line the bottom of the springform pan with baking paper. Line the sides of the pan with strips of baking paper. You can glue the edges of the paper with a little melted butter. 3. Grind the Petit beurre biscuits, butter and honey in the food processor to a crumbly mixture, transfer to the pan and press to the bottom in an even layer. Transfer to the freezer for at least half an hour. 4. Heat an oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 F?) and place a pan with 2 liters of boiling water at the bottom of the oven. 5. Transfer the yogurt and cheese mixture to a mixer. Add sugar, cornflour, vanilla extract and salt, and mix at low speed with a guitar hook until a uniform batter is obtained. Quickly add egg after egg and mix briefly until they are incorporated into the mixture. Avoid over mixing. 6. Pour the batter into the pan, transfer to the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Lower the temperature to 100 degrees Celsius (200 F?) and bake for an hour and 20 minutes. Turn off the oven and leave the cake in it for half an hour. Please note: do not open the oven door during baking. 7. Remove the cake from the oven, cool and transfer to the refrigerator for at least 12 hours and up to 3 days. 8. Before serving, remove the cake from the pan and sprinkle the pistachios. * Filtering the cheeses is important! Don't give up on it. If there is no time, you can shorten the duration of the filtration to 6 hours. * To get a straight and white cake like a swan, be sure to place a pan with boiling water in the bottom of the oven and line the sides of the pan with strips of baking paper. Also, the pan is placed in the lower third of the oven, and not too high, so that the cake does not brown. @jagsfan Mimi, the cheesecake is indeed delicious, and the watermelon was excellent. So far, early in the season, we managed to buy very tasty ones.
  17. For those who would like to read "aussie's" review 😉 Yesterday evening, my BFF invited us to some cheese and vine ....
