The drive via taxi from the pier is only about 10-15 minutes. It seems to fly by, particularly when your taxi driver is going about 90 miles an hour. 😳 said a few prayers along the way, and was definitely ready for a beverage when we arrived

We had one doing that too in the rain...but, as I was freaking out...my husband pointed out that it was Kilometers...not MPH... Still ...he was doing 60mph...

Just got my royal up email for Navigator 4 night.  $100 minimum bid to go from GS to owner's suite.   Should I bid?  Doesn't really matter if I get it or not.  I need to check to see where OS are on Navigator.

All you'd be gaining is a little more square feet in the room & maybe on the balcony.... now if it gets you better perks, that be different, but it doesn't.

Now I’m just annoyed. emoji35.png perhaps they really haven’t made an affirmative decision, and that’s actually ok. but the airlines have already been proactive, and the “afternoon” update promised by the captain hasn’t happened.

At minimum, he should be announcing they need more time to make a decision instead of no communication at all.

I just copied this from the Sept. 1st roll call... posted at 6:44 pm Thursday.... Dorian is slowing down, causing them to have to wait to make any calls...I agree, your Captain (who is the Capt?) should be keeping y’all informed...

    ————————————————————————

Along with our Chief Meteorologist, James Van Fleet, we’ve been closely monitoring Hurricane Dorian, and while the storm has slowed down a bit, we continue to evaluate its path and trajectory. The American and European weather models still have the storm going two separate ways. So, we’re waiting for new weather updates, which we’ll receive later this afternoon, to better assess the storm’s strength, trajectory, and impact to our itineraries. Then, we’ll determine if your specific itinerary needs to be modified, or if it’ll remain as scheduled. Regardless, we’ll share an update with you by 3:00 PM EST tomorrow, August 30th, 2019, or sooner

Still no updates onboard emoji20.png I’m
Sure this is stressful for those of you planning on boarding and waiting to hear, but it’s no picnic being on the other side of it either.

Over on the Sept 1st roll call, they (RCI) are saying now...6:00pm they will reassess the situation... they are saying the Coast Guard is in control of the ports & **if** there are gale force winds (40-50mph), they will close the port...

Similar yes, as to being an all inclusive beach resort...close to each other...yes (easy walking distance from each other).

But the big difference is the what group they cater to.  Nachi being limited to a smaller group, with more older folks, and quieter.  Mr. Sanchos has the family theme park type set up and takes a much bigger crowd more geared to younger folks and lots of kids.

Nachi & Mr Sanchos I don’t believe are walking distance apart. We’ve been to both.... Mr Sanchos more times... we do the AI... and it’s mostly all adults the kids most likely are in the pay as you go side. Never has it been crowded for us... we really enjoyed it much better than Nachi. The Coconut Shrimp is to die for at Mr Sanchos! We go just for that.... all you can eat & drink!

We are expecting an announcement today if we will be delayed coming into FL

I doubt you will make it in to Port on Sunday as planned. Dorian is now a Cat 1 hurricane & is expected to hit “somewhere” along the east coast of Florida as a Cat 3, possibly a Cat 4 late Sunday/Monday.... I feel bad for those that NEED to get off Sunday & those planning on getting on Sunday... it will be a mess.

This photo of the projected path of Dorian is from 8:00 am Thursday...

More like waist deep. They are more of a "cooling off" pool and not a swim pool.

Waist deep is perfect! All people do in most Solarium pools is hang onto the edges & talk to others…. I have always wondered why the pool had to be so deep as sometimes the pool edges can get crowded leaving the pools centers open...but too deep for 5'4'' people (me)…. 😉

And again a simple question, why would ever think that would happen? No, you will not be upgraded if you didn't bid on it.

I have seen people say they were upgraded to a different cabin than they had bid on...………… but within the same category. So, It CAN happen....I bid $1000 for the upgraded room I want..simply to get the extra Star perks...……………. I do not want a larger room within the same category & pay $1000 more for said room...………………….

I am sure there are others out there that can speak about this that have experienced it.

Why? Because you think RCI makes that many cabin mistakes? The days of free upgrades is over.

Well that is rude. That was NOT my question...……… I made a BID.... just don't want to PAY for a cabin that I did not bid on.....

Simple question... Can I be upgraded to a cabin that I did NOT bid on? That's all I want to know.

Momma always told me..."if you don't have anything GOOD TO SAY, then don't say anything at all."

  10. I am currently booked in a GS on Allure... so we get "sky" suite perks.

We made a low bid on the Aquatheater 2 bedroom suite (the first cabin that would actually upgrade us to the "Star" suite perks).... there were other cabins available to bid on but didn't offer the Star benefits, so we didn't bid on them.

I am certain we won't get the upgrade on the cabin we bid on, but I am now concerned that we might be upgraded to one of those other suites (that don't offer the Star perks) even tho we didn't bid on them.... We are perfectly happy with our GS & don't want to upgrade unless we get the Star perks...…………………….

Does anyone know if we may be upgraded to a cabin we did not bid on & do not want.

    YIKES!! Scared now.

  11. I've seen good ones & blah ones.... depends on the staff's personality & how much they want to put into it to make it fun! I have never been to one where any of the officers attended...I've been on 17 RCI cruises.... I think the reason for the event is for those that are on a Roll Call to MEET & MINGLE since you've been conversing anonymously prior to your cruise….

If you want to meet & talk to the officers, go to the upper tier gathering &/or the Captains Corner.

  12. Oh this is ridiculous! The Meet & Mingle event I have been referring to is in January ...but I have a cruise in Sept …. so I checked it and we had around 80 people signed up long ago.... now it says no one has signed up! And my Mar 2020 cruise had met it's minimum long ago...and now it says only 2 have signed up!

Does anyone know what we should do...getting everyone on the roll calls to re-sign up is crazy! And who's to say it won't be deleted again?

I tried emailing the email link on the sign up page, but it just bounced back...
