  1. We are doing our first b2b and would like someone to explain the procedure is when we complete our first week. Do we go with all the passengers to customs or are the people that are staying on the ship taken to customs separately? Thanking you in advance. Bev

Been on several B2Bs through Miami. You will receive printed information as well as a phone call from the Officer in Charge, usually the International Host. You will have 2 options: (1) leave the ship to do whatever you wish, or (2) remain on the ship. If you select Option #1 you will leave the ship with other passengers and go through Customs and Immigration as normal. and may return anytime during the normal boarding time. You maight have received your new room key in advance, but if you haven't, you'll go to the Pier Coordinator to get your new Seapass cardand have new picture taken. Remember, each cruise is treated as a separate cruise and you'll need to reregister your credit card. If you decide to remain on the ship you'll be given a meeting location. You'll meet with others who selectedto remain on the ship. An officer willtakeyouoffthe shipand through Coutoms. Usually receive your new Seapass card at the time of the meeting on ship. There is sometimes a special lunch for B2B passengers, but not always. Once again, this is not something to be concerned about as you will receive full directions.

  2. The full title should be Friends of Alexandra K. It indeed had an official blessing from Celebrity with an official signpost that appeared on the noticeboard. It was setup by Alex principally due to the older nature of the cruise clients. The group was intended to attract the younger cruise members, particularly those who enjoyed a molecular cocktail. The group met between 5pm and 6pm each night. The bartender was a young lady from Hungary called Barbara. She had a natural ability for numbers and making excellent cocktails. I'm sure Alex won't mind me posting her photograph. Alex is the one on the right.

My guess stands corected. Alex is not a chap. Unfortunately I could attend since the "meeting"conflicts with the Elite Hour. Anyone can request a posting on the message board.

Ma Bell made the closest guess: Congrats:)

  3. Comparisons and contrasts might be interesting talking points, but are really not relevant to finding an answer to the original statement. Perhaps an operational definition of "value" can be found by examing the results. If cruise categories fill at the price offered then it can be concluded that a sufficient number of customers saw a "value"in booking. If cabin categories don't fill then the price is not considered a "value" by a significant number of potential passengers.. Price adjustments for unsold cabins are designed to increase the number of people who see "value"and book. In some cases, as the Feb. 15th Century cruise, enough people saw "value" to fill the ship quite quickly. The few remaining cabins are now at a premimum price so that those who booked right away must feel that they recieved a fantastic value. Each person decides what "value" is for them and acts accordingly. The OP has his standard of "value" and the price of the particular cabin category he desires is not "value" to him. My guess is that others have booked at least some of the cabins so there is a "value" to them. Once I was standing next to a man who upon seeing a shipof a certain line commented that eh wouldn't return to that line even if the cruise was free. To him even "free"was not a "value"

  4. According to Miriam Webster:

sarcasm: the use of words that mean the opposite of what you really want to say especially in order to insult someone, to show irritation, or to be funny.

I'd guess that posts 13 and 16 were meaning the opposite of what they said.

I'm guessing that the DON'T actually mean that " we just love paying a high cost for so little value"

    or that

"every penny is a total waste."

The problem in print is that it's difficult to determine if people are showing irritation, insulting or trying to be funny.

Perhaps people do book cruises that they think cost a lot for little value and are a total waste of every penny, but I kind of doubt that. In which case it qualifies as sarcasm. Saying the opposite of what they mean for whatever the end targeted end result.

Good post! As the author of post 13 permit me to comment on my intentions. First: IMHO the OP asked a loaded question where they were trying to get answers that supported their position. They revealed their bias in their first line. To me,that type of post invites some sacastic and hopefully humorous response. What do they say about "action-reaction"? Second: I give a direct answer to their comment/question about justifying price. That answer simply stated was that the market determines price and value. Has anyone denied that? That's my position and I'll stick to it not matter what "snarky" comments may be made by those who disagree.

  5. I don't think any cruise line can justify inflated prices. I have been looking at a European June cruise 12 night in a C3 stateroom and even with the 15% reduction the cost in UK Pounds is 3,286 = £273 per night.

On our last cruise we received the free drinks package which softened the blow but personally £273 pounds per night is ludicrous.

A cruiseline can justify any price that the market will pay.

Is Celebrity giving a fair value? Absolutely not! That's why so many book with Celebrity over and over again. We just love paying a high cost for so little value.

  6. Thank you for the replies. I am hoping they offer on the 11/24 transatlantic. I know we could get to Florence by bus/train but I would rather pay a little more and have the ship be responsible for getting us back rather than an independent operator or myslef.

Celebrity offers several Florence options. Florence on Yor Own provides transportation and a bottle of water. Think it's about $94. Leaves you off at some distance and the the group walks together to Santa Croce. Trudy is usually the "guide" and gives some commentary along the way. Very nice and helpful person.

  7. How do you find the "Host(ess)", where is he/she hanging around? I only remember the captain's club host and the cruise director.

We are nice to everyone but I would really like to know who this person is that can invite you.

However, I think we are too young to get an invitation to this table...

The Hostess is the Captain's Club Hostess.Attends Elite events. On S Class ships office on Deck 5 port side. Usually on deck 3 on M Class ships near Guest Relations/

  8. Hi,

I haven't had any problems login on to the my celebrity page... However when my page comes up the price of one my future cruises I have booked keeps changing... So far it's been as high as £2,800 per person & as low as £300 per person.... It's actually around the £1,350 mark so I'm hoping it sticks at the lower option at some stage....!! :D

Whenever I do click on my reservation it reverts back to the normal price... I can hope tho!!

Many have reported the same problem. I wouldn't be concerned.

  9. Have you tried this? This has not worked for nine days. It takes you to the shore excursions, but when you try to click a button to see the available excursions, nothing happens.

Maybe you can see existing excursions, but you cannot make or view new ones.

It's worked for me. You can't go directly to excursions from the My Celebrity page, need to go to View My Reservations first and then to excursions. See if it works for you.

  10. We are traveling on the cruise for my in- laws 50th Wedding Anniversary. I would love to get them an invite to dine at the Captain's Table. What would be the best strategy to try to arrange that? Whom should I ask?

    Thanks!

Some might suggest that you speak to the Captain's Club Host/hostess. However that can be counter productive since many resent anyone asking and ignore any request. First, contact you TA and let them know about the special event. A call directly to Celebrity might also work. They would consider your request and would direct the Host/Hostess to issue an invitation. I know that this has been done with some people celebrating a special event at some of the tables I've attended.

  11. I know that, but as I said there are some Cruisers on these forums that complain of portion size. For us no need to order additional entrees considering all the different courses.

They are probably the same folks who say: "the food stinks and they don't give you enough".

One way to tell a new cruiser is by the amount of food they take from the buffet the first day. They'll learn

  12. I see that the Giving Thanks Sale has a 15% discount for Captain's Club members. Why does Celebrity not allow this offer to be combined with other offers like Pick Your Perk promotion ending 06 Oct 2013. Don't you think this offer of thanking the loyalty of Celebrity Captain's Club members be allowed the additional discount prior to final payment? Captain's Club offers, promotions etc should be in addition to any other posted offers or savings shown on the Celebrity Web Site. If not what is the point of loyalty if you can't use the benefits if Celebrity prohibits the combining of the offers? I understand if this was post final payment but prior to final payment they should be accepted.

    Exclusive Offers

Exclusive Offers are designed for our most loyal guests, our Captain's Club members.

    Giving Thanks Sale

Captain’s Club members (Classic tier and above) save 15% on cruise vacations to Alaska, Bermuda, the Caribbean or Europe.

It really doesn't matter what they call a promotion. They're really designed to lure people in to book a cruise. It would cost Celebrity just too much money if they allowed you to combine promotions and that would have a negative impact on the bottom line. One needs to be carefully when booking any promotion, sometimes what appears to be a good deal really isn't. Sometimes they offer a great opportunity to save so don't pass them without checking.

  13. So was your status mentioned in the latest promo email from the Captains Club correct?

Both my status and DW's status correct. I just can't access anything beyond Reservations and Captain's Club. However, others have reported some problems with status. One poster with much more computer knowledge than I reported that the new source code appears to leave space for new loyalty levels. We'll see. I'm confident that it will all be corrected . Don't know when however.

  14. Sorry, been "away" for almost two weeks.

FWIW I kinda start threads when I feel like it. If some don't want them, don't follow them.

robtulipe, everything was fine on our June cruise, and that was a last minute baby... in the next 70 or so days I suspect even Celebrity will figure it out.

I was just curious if anyone else is getting a haircut status wise with the latest Captain's Club email promo?

Hope you had a good two weeks. They were to work on the website last weekend, but it still isn't functioning well. I can't look at excursions, other report not being able to make dinner reservations, etc.. Most report that they can get to their ester actions, but not beyond. Online check in not working for many. So it seems like status quo since you left. I wonder what will come first: a functioning web site or a new Loyalty program. Review the threads for some interesting reading.

  15. Tried to check on the "X" site but apparently she doesn't even exsist as a Captains club member there anymore... I do and she still shows on our booked and paid in full cruises... just no status suddenly.

Another web job well (not) done Celebrity.

Don't trust anything that you might see on their site at this time. Still not working. Already enough threads on this problem so don't want to start a new one here.
