  1. Yes very do-able. If you are arriving to Centraal. Exit towards the water side and walk to the ship (10 min walk) Drop bags off and return to Centraal. You can than take a tram to any area of city or walk around! Great City (we just visited on RCL in June) Sorry for the shaky red line I drew..LOL!! But this is simplest walking path to cruise port.!
  2. I would not recommend taking a HOHO bus. Best bet is to get off Ship and make your way to the Amsterdam Centraal train station(10 min walk). From there take any number of the trams and get a nice view of the city, or take a canal boat excursion also found in the train station area. Both will give you different perspectives of this amazing city!
  3. Flam is surprisingly Vacationer friendly. Lots if info signs and staff ready to answer your questions. Here is the area you can purchase same day trip's or ask about an existing reservation you have. Great signage with info about buses where to line up and what time they leave. I would purchase my excursions beforehand. Norwaysbest website has a lot of excursions that are bookable.
  4. Looks like a great itinerary! Flam and Gerainger are amazing ports! Alesund is also very nice.
  5. Yes you can! We did this last month in June for our Fjords/Artic cruise. To save yourself some time. Walk to the s100 highway. . From there it is a straight walk to the pier. If you go the front of hotel way you have to walk over a bridge and up and down some stairs and across the s100. (but some great views of the NEMO museum and the floating Chinese Sea Palace restaurant LOL) Red is the route I would take. Blue is the route we accidently took, we had to go across bridge up and down stairs and walk across the S100 and than back down to the pier. On the way back we took the red route back to Amsterdam Central for out train ride to Belgium. Straight walk to train station! I circled the areas where you have to walk up and down stairs
  6. We just cruise out of AMS in June. There were 2 porter's standing in front of the conveyor belt. We showed our sail pass to the agent walked right up to the porter and handed him our suitcase's. They put them on conveyor belt. Very efficient process.
  7. We just went thru Heathrow customs in June. United flight. If you have a biometric passport, there is a line with digital kiosks, you will put your passport on the scanner. Once approved the gate will open and you walk thru. You will than walk to the agent where they will stamp your passport. Extremely efficient. And I am not a fan of Heathrow! I would say we went thru in about 15 min. We took the Heathrow express to Paddington station. The walk is very long and took us about 20 minutes to get to the train area. Sign's are clearly marked from the main terminal to the train area. So very hard to get lost. But it ws quite a long walk. I would say it can take anywhere from 15 min to 45 min to get thru, all depends on how many flights are arriving and going thru passport control.
  8. We had a GTY for Jewel Artic/Fjords cruise this past June. We literally did not get our room assignment until 3 days before cruise. We were on flight to Europe when we received assignment. LOL. We ended up in an oversize balcony they considered obstructed. We literally got this room for the price of a GTD inside cabin.
  9. Absolutely worth it. Just to feel the power coming from the Bachelor waterfall. WHen you are on the cruise ship you just don't get very close to anything and you see things from a different perspective. Most ppl sleep thru the Fjord passage since it is so early in the AM, or having dinner when we exit the Fjord.
  10. clearly marked. with direction name and how long of a trail it was. I would say they are basic to intermediate, just wear comyfy shoes.!
  11. The amount of people all crowded on lookout point made for a terrible time. People were rude, pushing, and hogging up the good picture spot's. We had a family of 10 doing some sort of fashion shoot! and they were rude on top of it. The ride up and down made for more entertainment. Wishing I would have booked a RIB tour and or Railway. Amazing view's but probably could have seen that view elsewhere! Here is a picture of how crowded this place can get.
  12. We were to be in Olden at 10AM. I was up at 440AM and barely caught us entering the Fjord. I would say about a 4-5 hour journey. So to be safe I would say 5 hours pre if you want to see entry into Fjord This picture was taken at 4:45AM. this might be an entry marker?? Here is a map of were we were at that exact time, already entering into the Fjord.
  13. Just back from June Fjords trip. Alesund the 418 step fjellstua is awesome highly recommend the hike! We are both in our late 40's and not in the best shape and we made it up in 20 min. This is literally a 10 minute walk from port. View from top: Honnisvag - I recommend using blue puffin tours for their North Cape tour. Tour operator is a husband and wife team who live in Mageroya for "on" season. And in Tromso for off season! North Cape is nice and you can walk around the entire area! Beautiful scenery! Summer Solstice about 12:20 AM
  14. Sorry for some reason it double posted!!
  15. Bus from port of Olden to Loen is 15 minutes tops. Very straight forward route. Bus ran all day every15-20 minutes. To the top was about a 4 minute ride. We stayed on Mount Hoven for about 5 hours hiking the different trails. No time limit's technical plaque they had on wall with info.
  16. Yes... Just back from Fjords cruise. I did not use cash anywhere. Used tap to pay from phone (google wallet) I even used my phone to pay to use a bathroom in Gerainger! LOL!!
  17. We are just back from June 19th trip in Gerainger. We choose Boneseye, amazing tour company! Our skipper was a local who owns one of the farms in the Fjord. She had some great stories. We must have lucked out because it was only 4 of us on the RIB. We booked the 1st boat out. 7 Sisters The bachelor
  18. Just back from Norwegian Fjords with RCL. Port's we stopped in. Gerainger (my favorite deep Fjord stop) Honnisvag (overnight for summer solstice) Flam (hiked waterfall path and went to Stegestein , which was a terrible choice) Olden (went to Loen for skylift and hiked Mount Hoven) Alesund Molde (stop was skipped due to Amsterdam and their lock/salinity levels, so we had to come home 1 day early) So if you have any question's I am now an expert.. LOL (thanks to hallasm for pointing me in the right direction when choosing the right Fjord trip for us, we ended up doing a deep Fjord's for the scenery and beauty)
  19. I have my next 3 cruises booked with them. One as early as next week in the Fjord's. 1.Call AMEX directly, they will connect you with a Cruise specialist (unless you already have a TA who participates with AMEX) You can transfer your booking to them if within 30 days. 2.I have a GTD Balcony and received $200 OBC for RCL sailing from AMEX ( suites get the $300 their fine print does not mention length of cruise needed, but if i remember my TA mentioned 7+ but i could be wrong) . https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/travel/cruises-and-custom-vacations/benefits Each Cruise company have different perks (NCL is giving us dinner at French restaurant and a bottle of Champagne and $200 OBC) (RCL we are getting bottle of champagne only and OBC of $200) 3.NO. I booked with RCL while on board to get the RCL $200 OBC, I than transferred to my AMEX TA and received the additional $200 OBC. I also applied for the $100 OBC since I am also a share holder. So in total for that cruise I received $500 in OBC. 4.Best part is the 2X points for booking cruise with AMEX. You will get 1X after final payment, once you sail you will receive 1X balance of membership points (as per their cruise privilege's program).
  20. Bummer about Gerainger! But at least you managed to go down this log Fjord on Anthem and enjoy the scenery, was RCL giving out blanket's, to stay warm?
  21. Oh man...not the news I want to hear. We fly to Europe in 11 days.
  22. following!! as we are headed to the Fjord's in 13 days and counting. Also one of our favorite British Las Vegas vlogger's were on this sailing. Hoping i see their content before we leave on trip!
  23. Does anyone know... If I charge the 1K while on board in the casino! Will it be billed as Royal Caribbean or as name of the ship?? asking because: While on Harmony for NYE we charged dinner and it was billed on CC statement as "Harmony of the Seas", On the same CC we also booked a cruise and the deposit was billed to CC as Royal Caribbean. Just curious what adding money to your seapass card for casino is billed as. Unfortunately my cruise is next month and final payment was made in March and we had already booked our drink package and dining( for some great prices, so canceling them and rebooking does not make sense). So currently I do not have any additional spend with RCL for the year, as we are doing other cruise line for NYE. Yes this is a great deal as you would need to spend 20K for 20K point or 4K in hotel and or airfare to get these points. So for me the 1K spend makes sense.
