  1. Agree!! Interesting how the lack of a balcony and the huge window that comes with it turns what could have been a nice room into something that might be found at a Motel 6.

I understand what you are saying, but I don't think they were planning to remain in the cabin. What are the scooters to be used for? Going to the WC?

  2. Breakfast in buffet, then go pool side to catch some sun and people watch, lunch at buffet, more sun with Bahama mama's or rum and coke to listen to deck music or my music. browsing the ship and workout then more sun and reading or people watching. Unwinding on our balcony with white Russians

Dinner in MDR, lounging with more rum and coke or wine, dancing, shows, lectures if there is one, and casino.

Also, lots of just enjoying the ocean or river and sky.

  3. I just booked a Viking Ocean cruise, Tokyo to Hong Kong. This cruise sail on Sept 6,2019. That is not considered early for a Viking cruise as the book very quickly and all the better cabins go early. My TA is keeping a heads up for me in case of reductions which I am not counting on as there won't be incentive for Viking to reduce it's rate.

  4. It might suck to have to do, but perhaps you would enjoy your voyage more if you just booked another flight and cut your loses instead of rolling the dice and loosing the bet to have to catch another flight anyway IF you could find one.

Or you could just take cheap luggage and leave it on board. JK.

  5. My experience is there is no great divide. If smoking is permitted at all in the casino, smokers smoke wherever they want in the casino and even non-players hang out in the casino using it as a smoking lounge, and I've never seen any staff enforce the smoking policy. If you prefer a non-smoking casino, choose one that is completely non-smoking. Right now, according to HAL's "Know Before You Go" PDF brochure, Eurodam, Oosterdam, Westerdam, and Zuiderdam have completely smoke-free casinos.

According to Hollands home page, on the ship I cruise on, smoking is only allowed at designated slot machine areas in the casino.

Sad for me, one of those no smoking policy ships did not cruise to my destination so I had to compromise.

  6. Sorry. I did not mean that my Dr. RXed Nocor for my flights. This is an as needed script which I use for extreme pain only and not as a rule. Long flights do bring this about.

As I said, I do routinely walk about to the point of bugging fellow passengers; also do resistance exercises periodically.

  7. We have not sailed Holland before. Mainly because of their past smoking policy. Very allergic. Recently we decided to book a trans Atlantic. I understand from Holland’s site that smoking is prohibited on balconies. But after reading some reviews I am concerned. Many say that passengers still smoke out on their balconies and even after reporting the problem the crew does nothing. Am I just a bit over concerned??

There is a stiff fine for smoking n a cabin balcony. The room attendants check on this as a routine. There butt would be on fire if it was found out and had not been reported .

  8. We have done one South Carolina to China flight. 13 hrs . My wife is 5 ft or so and has enough room to curl up. I'm around 6', Leg room is mostly not available to me. I have to move about , stand by the galley or WC to keep my blood moving. To make matters more challenging, have muscular dystrophy and must wear braces all the times. This is agonizing and makes walking around more critical.. My Dr prescribes oxy. to mitigate cramp pain to help with gettinfg some sleep. I wear a hoodie because the cabin is too cold for comfort and will retract into the hood to cut out some light and listen to Bach on my Ipod

Snacking on trail mix works for me in case the meal is not filling or to my liking.

  9. We took this cruise 7 yrs ago and loved it. Ship board is very low key. We had a balcony which I highly recommend for relaxing views. There were almost all mid to older age. Dining was of a casual nature with a good selection food eg. roast beef, coco de vien, sea food, Italian and great service. nice desserts served with wine soft drinks beer and ect. Music was very lounge type and some classical. No heavy metal or rap when we did it. Excursions are usually walking with maybe some short bus rides to some locations in towns to a castle, palaces and some cobbled streets with walking at a comfortable pace. The guide we had was quite interesting and stayed with our group the whole cruise. There were interesting speakers in the evening before arriving into the ports. No casino, no big shows that I can recall. Going through the locks in Holland was interesting as were all the castles in Germany. The Melk Abby in Austria was the hit of the cruise for us.

Generally, the days are as full as you want them to be.

If you want a good relaxing and informative cruise, this might work for you.

Just hope that the river levels at the bridges are not too high or too low as to make things impassible.

  10. Not sure if you are giving me the ''Business '' or not but there are many false stories that stick around for a long time. In the 70s many thought and said that the great lakes had no fish in them ,they did and still do. Also in the 70s and 80s had tons of scare stories about ACID RAIN and how it would wipe out all fresh water fish in the U.S. 30 years later fishing is better than it has ever been. The end of the world is always out there for those looking for it.Take it from an old guy like me when ever some says something is a crisis it almost never is.

Crisis is subjective. There will always be alarmist out there that sound the alarm that might be uncalled for but it is wrong to assume all crises are false though many will try. There goes the baby out with the bath water.

Never mind my giving you your idea of business.

I have 3 trawlers in operation of of New England and have witnessed first hand some of the effects caused by this non existent scare story as you call it. My employee's spend hours weekly removing the crapola trapped in our nets.

That to me is a crisis that costs me profits every year and it is getting worse.
