They are only as good as their last news.

For sure they are up with selling over 8% of their stock.  Market sees that someone willing to infuse that amount of money as a good sign.  Not sure of share price of sale, but think it was around $8-9/share and that is cash to them. When we sell/buy it is between us. They also have, projected, the longest run rate(cash run rate) without any revenues of the big 3 - about 12 months.  RCL is about 8 months.

I sure hope they are not using/counting on customer deposits in their cash flow calculation right now.

I think the Ponzi game went something like that

I used my big box TA on line form, it was completed and acknowledged but I went back into their site and found it still active.

So I plugged in my phone in decided to call and wait to talk to a rep.  The recording said it could take up to two hours and I was waiting and low and behold I talked to a rep and she said they received it but it was put in a "back log" to be addressed at a later date.

So she officially cancelled it for me right then and there and I feel so much better knowing for certain, it is done.☺️

When were you scheduled to sail?

Of course - NCL wants to protect themselves - but so do doctors, and that is why I strongly doubt many doctors would sign them.

This liability can be waved by including a qualification  ( I certify as of this date____________ that______________ is fit to cruise)                                                                                                                                                   ________________________________MD

Aren’t you aware that most responsible communities have already cancelled ball games, concerts, theaters, etc.?  And  that putting gas in your car and taking the subway (which nobody does unless they have no other option) are necessary —- while cruising never was, and therefore should have been one of the first activities cancelled.

    Cruise addicts are curious people.

Of coarse I'm aware of all of the actions taken after the powers that be accepted the reality that there is a clear and present danger.  Pretty much all communities came around and did the right thing but many did not.  You would be surprised at those that ride public transportation that have other means of travel. I agree that cruising needed to be halted sooner. As you can see here on the board, there are many cruisers that would sail today if it was possible.  It must be the addiction.

You really do not think that having 4,000 or so people in a fairly enclosed environment: eating meals by the hundreds, sitting butt by butt in theatres, lined up for boarding check in, etc. might not have increased the spread?

    WOW, JUST WOW!!!!!

WOW .  Good point.  It's kind of like having thousands upon thousands sitting in venues for ball game, concerts, theaters, subways and on and one. I won't mention all of the handheld pump hoses to put gas in the car.  Imagine that.

Rome is going to disappear? The Grand Canyon will be filled in? Honolulu will become a ghost town? Aspen will stop receiving snow? We may need to adjust how we vacation but there will still be places to go and see. Businesses may go out of business but eventually other businesses will rise up to take their place.

    Mud in your brain?

Yes. All the restaurant employees losing their jobs is terrible. However, I believe they are eligible for unemployment. I doubt the cruise ship employees receive unemployment if they are laid off and sent home.

Loss of their share of the 18% gratuity charged won't be coming in now. I imagine that will be a big hit for all of the employee's.

Hi, in Italy we have very strict measures to limit contagion: restaurants, bars, schools, universities, are closed, only shops selling primary goods are open, museums, churches, all closed, it is strictly forbidden to go out from home if not necessary, you can go buy food or to work (if your workplace is open), you can walk your dog, but only very close to home. I really hope that every other country in Europe (and not only in Europe) will do the same, by now they are not, and it is worrying, because all of this will be useless if foreign countries will continue to allow the virus to spread...it's not time to underestimate the situation anymore.

Hope to see you soon in my beautiful country, when all those who share a passion for travel will be able to move around the world again.

Your country is beautiful indeed.  That's why I have visited Italy at least half a dozen time for 10 days a stay and feel very fortunate to have done so.

Cheapsakes (like those removing DSC) I have seen. But I have never encountered a homeless person on a cruise ship, have you?

They might be after they pay for their cruise.  Tons cruise that really can't afford to.  I worked  years without more than a week off with no pay. It's expectations that changed. Not income.

  10. I see that RC is allowing someone to cancel a current reservation with no penalty  up to 3 days before sailing date.  Does anyone know if that for real?

My final pmt is due March 9. I want to cruise but would like to hold off on the final until I can see better where things are going.

RCL is closing today at about $77. (-43% from its 52 week high)

This virus thing is starting to get interesting!

For the future yes. But for today???:? It will be sickening for someone that needs any money and has to sell now. OUCH!

Then Cap. gains will be looming once the price returns to normal. Double OUCH!

Great idea! How many times have you walked by an empty table only to see plates of half eaten food! Smaller plates=smaller servings=less waste!

Smaller plates mean more traffic at the buffet islands due to people making a 3rd trip for a 3rd plate because they didn't get enough in their earlier 2 trips.

  13. What I meant to be implying in a previous post is that due to increased absences at work , the lull in performance due to fear of illness, hysteria, and the reported mortality rates would impact cruise and other commercial  activity  as it is already doing so. IMO, it is going to get worse. That was not to say that this condition would be permanent but still very taxing for many.  One of the really tough things to do is sort out the facts from the knee jerk conclusions and anecdotal predictions.

  14. One of the reasons I enjoy a Costa or MSC and such if for the international feel, the decorating  ,food and entertainment on board.  We went to Japan on cruise and saw absolutely nothing of Japan except a small portion of the major temples in the country with 10 hr calls in port.  Train or self drive would have been so much better.  But I did get to color a map to show I had been to that country.

I suppose it depends on what you expect to get out of the journey.  Coloring in a map that proves you've been there, or seeing all the museums or the inner roads.

I do wonder some if the virus can't be contained and does spread world wide, will we "return to normal" because there is no longer a need for quarantines if it has spread that much?

My thought on the is not a good one. I feel that with more people ill, higher mortality results, business' reduce or for some stop production, transportation is curtailed, commerce grinds down and stocks crash, No. Things would not return to normal.

For every "great idea" some customer has, a business has 10 proven reasons why it's not a good idea. What you're advocating basically nullifies travel insurance, early saver rates, current pricing model, etc.

For as noble as this sounds, there are many other people who will still go on their cruise with a virus, because they don't want to miss out.

If someone has enough energy to go through the boarding process, they don't have the flu. If they want to hang around in there cabin puking and sitting on the toilet to get their moneys worth, so be it. They won't be walking around much.
