Queen Anne 11th to 15th Oct 2024 Cruise - Indoor Pool Closed!
Victoria2 replied to GSPG's topic in Cunard Line
Well I guess no swimming is a better alternative to dry docking the ship for the duration! All those half bottles of Pol Aker which apparently are left by passengers could be put to good use and no, not for swimming in, more for drowning sorrows! 🙂 -
Queen Anne 11th to 15th Oct 2024 Cruise - Indoor Pool Closed!

Some sort of acknowledgment or even recompense for any noise and disruption of the Pavilion ambiance as a venue I can understand. For the loss of the actual pool facility, maintenance happens. -
The lists change ship to ship and time to time. Always worth asking for another brand, wine or spirits if 'your' choice isn't on the list.

Queen Anne 11th to 15th Oct 2024 Cruise - Indoor Pool Closed!
Victoria2 replied to GSPG's topic in Cunard Line
The pool should NOT be in need of TLC. That's an absolute given but I am getting the impression, those who view Annie in a fundamentally positive light have a completely different attitude to the maintenance required to those who sneer at positive posts about her and like to find fault where they can. Let's hope the issue can be resolved without the need to take her out of service. -
Queen Anne 11th to 15th Oct 2024 Cruise - Indoor Pool Closed!
Victoria2 replied to GSPG's topic in Cunard Line
15th is the end of that particular cruise and I suppose closed for a 4 nighter with only one sea day is preferable to a longer cruise, but obviously not to passengers concerned. If the 'repairs' [pretty poor really] aren't finished, not many [UK] schools will have a two week half term so not so many children onboard wanting to use the pool on the follow on cruise. -
Had a go at that too, sort of. Clay targets though and stood still standing. Bit difficult to shoot clays from a prone position. Had a colourful forearm from the recoil there too for a while.

If Paralympic athletes can do it, then there's no holding back exlondoner from having a go! Just remind me to be behind you!!😀

Cunard's mobility scooter and wheelchair policy
Victoria2 replied to SoosieSoo's topic in Cunard Line
We have had nothing but kindness shown to us on QV and QA from all staff and it has to be said, passengers. I have no idea of the reasoning behind the new policy and refuse to speculate even though it could possibly affect our travel plans going forward. -
Oh you must, it's fun but the twang [I'm really au fait with the terminology...as you can tell!😀] of the bow string can hurt which is why the archery gauntlet is so important. Enjoy. 🙂

Just be aware of the bruised forearm possibility. I'm right handed and my right forearm displayed quite an array of colours as my bruises subsided when I first tried my hand at the 'sport'. 😀

Cunard's mobility scooter and wheelchair policy

It would depend on how urgent the company felt the implementation was required. As we have no knowledge on the whys, the wherefores are irrelevant. -
Cunard's mobility scooter and wheelchair policy

Your mother might *have been able to avail herself of the one-to-one assistance rather than register for an evac chair. Guests who are bringing other mobility aids like rollators, crutches etc. must inform us through the completion of the on board needs questionnaire. This is so that we can offer appropriate support, however, please be aware that due to the nature of the cruise experience, we may not be able to meet all requests. We strongly recommend that you are registered for a minimum of one-to-one assistance in the unlikely event of an emergency if you are bringing a mobility aid on board. You can do this when booking. -
Cunard's mobility scooter and wheelchair policy
Victoria2 replied to SoosieSoo's topic in Cunard Line
I don't know anything about QM2 cabins, but QA adapted cabins sound as if they needed more thought. As to more accessible/adapted cabins, it's down to staff availability for evac chairs as much as number of available cabins. -
Cunard's mobility scooter and wheelchair policy
Victoria2 replied to SoosieSoo's topic in Cunard Line
Ah, I read your post as the rewording will affect bumped folk, not the new policy as a whole. I have NO idea why this has changed and it won't affect us at all but, that doesn't stop me from feeling desperately sorry for those for whom it has effectively ruined holiday plans and also for those who will be in a dilemma to book or not to book well in advance in order to nab an appropriate cabin etc etc. Evac chair availability seems to be a major 'sticking' point too. Then there's insurance if denied boarding because you've twisted your ankle the day before the cruise. GP says fit to go on holiday but the assistance needed to board etc means a wheelchair but the lack of an evac chair means sorry, no can do! It's not shambolic...more an absolute nightmare in the making at the moment. -

Why will re wording affect bumped folk? -
Cunard's mobility scooter and wheelchair policy
Victoria2 replied to SoosieSoo's topic in Cunard Line
Whilst I acknowledge the wording is/was careless, and will now be defined, no one knows better than I the differences in mobility and the challenges disabled folk face. My comment was purely on the fact it will make no difference to assistance given as powered devices are lumped all together in Cunard's t&cs.. -
Cunard's mobility scooter and wheelchair policy

As the partner of an 'interested party', I don't really see a problem. In this particular instance, Cunard have designated powered devices, be they scooter or wheelchair, under one category and will required the same assistance. -
Not flying at the moment and only flew long distance when we did. Very sensible to book a couple of nights pre cruise on long distance itineraries. We always booked our hotel as We are very picky on hotel and room, but got our agent, through Cunard, to book flights after giving the specifics before hand. Usually more expensive that way but suited us to have everything [bar hotel] under one booking. We had to have a Cunard hotel booked occasionally too but we chose the cheapest and ditched it for our own choice.

Have the page up on your computer and check multiple times a day. Waitlisted means nothing if an early bird snatches the cabin as soon as it's posted. I speak from experience when I wanted to change cabins and was told onboard it was pointless waitlisting as the list was already quite long. I checked nearly every hour at one point, found the cabin was free, phoned our agent and got the booking transferred. Good luck

We had two helicopter flights from Ketchikan cancelled on separate Alaska cruises. Too misty. The good news was our flight from Skagway [International ! ] airport back to Juneau took us Glacier viewing on the way back! 👍

All I can say Megabear2 is we have taken two Cunard organised flight tours [Iceland] and each one has been almost to the minute as far as timings have been concerned.

I made a similar post a few months back as I too seemed to be one of the few who understood the icons on the digital machines. Simple instructions are posted on the wall in July, or they were on deck 7. The main dryer issue seemed to be opening the door before pausing the machine. The beauty of the digital readouts is if it's gone technical, and I managed to get a machine whenever I wanted in July, error shows up which means no more hanging out of order signs on machines in order to reserve one and yes, I've seen that too. Being so close, I didn't need to hang about to check on my laundry and with the digital countdown, no one can say they didn't realise the time loads took to complete.
-
Hours seemed to be a bit flexible judging by the chatter occasionally as we passed by of an evening going up to the bar or dinner, but I would say think 8am to 7pm as a main guide. The machines are digital and have a much shorter [around 21 mins] light wash than QV/QE machines. The ship's laundry facility has a same day [and a 48 hr] service which we found useful and made use of. We tried to cut down on suitcases. A bit!🙂

That's some reading for you. Hopefully, you'll be able to build a basic picture of Queen Anne from those who have sailed with her and form your own opinion on to book or not to book but at the end of the day, nothing will be as good as taking the plunge giving her a whirl to find out for yourself. Just be aware, to my mind as a devoted and loyal Cunard passenger, she isn't Cunard...but also she most definitely, is. 🙂

cruising.mark.uk, I broadly agree with your post. I’m sure some social media sites are very helpful but as in my earlier comment, knowledge of a particular contributor's experience would be needed by me in order to rationalise the information given. Regular contributors to this Cunard board in giving of their experiences have consciously or not, given of their sometime bias towards certain aspects of Cunard line eg dyed in the wool traditionalists v those ready to take on the line moving forward etc. and so I, for instance can almost guarantee what their reaction will be to certain issues and so will be able to take onboard their opinions as useful or as biased reactions. In other words, I also know who will make objective comments on one or two hot topics, and who will give subjective and sometimes, aspirational comments rather than give of the reality. I’m sure ( I know given some of the laughter emojis) my contributions will also be contentious even useless for some given style of accommodation but at least folk will know where we all stand on the Cunard 'timeline' and can dissect comments accordingly. That isn’t to say either reaction is right or wrong, just that knowing their contributions means I know whether their opinions will be of use or not, to me personally.
