  1. yum...lol! See they are even cutting more costs, with no whipped cream on the jello, just a piece of fruit lmao.
  2. Mostly agree, but I do think NCL edges RCI in terms of buffet desserts, ONLY because they usually have someone scooping out regular icecream with some various toppings available. Not sure if other cruiselines have the regular/non soft serve icecream but I did really enjoy getting a scoop of icecream and putting stuff on top of it. Really, my bar for a good buffet dessert is that low lol
  3. Even some of the ships that do the sailaway sheet cakes...like how are they SO bad, esp when I could bake something better tasting out of a box, just no excuse. and is there really a need for 10 different colors of Jello with whipped cream on top? Do people actually like the jello with whipped cream? I had one on the last cruise just to see and it was just bizarre to me...I thought maybe it's just me not liking this, but I always see so many sitting on the shelves.
  4. they ARE capable of producing good and included in cruise fare desserts. I've had some in the MDR. It's the buffet where they are usually bad.
  5. all those jellies and jello type things...bleh. We normally just go get a soft serve or a blended alcoholic drink haha
  6. I wonder if it is similar to O'Sheehan's/The Local on NCL ships. I wish Playmakers was included but the prices don't seem super outrageous if the food is good enough.
  7. Actually, after purchasing the three day package in Sept on Liberty after not sailing RCI for a while, I was very disappointed in the specialty dining. I did Chops, Giovanni's and Sabor and I felt like it was the same quality of the MDR. Nothing wrong to me with the quality of the MDR, but why pay when the quality is mostly similar. So I will not be purchasing the specialty package on my upcoming Royal Cruises, but I am going to do Playmakers once because I haven't tried it and it's ala carte. I might do the specialty dining package with Royal again if the price was right, but at 250-300.00 pp, not the right fit for me. Food is subjective though, many people couldn't believe I didn't like Royal's specialty dining.
  8. While I think you are right, I do think they are also trying to speed this along...idk if they are actually achieving that tho, as I do not have first hand experience with it yet. I had some VERY long dinner services in 2022...one was 3 hours from the time I sat down until I finished my entree and I did not order dessert because I wanted to gtfo.
  9. I didn't say unlimited. I did the 3 night one and that was more than enough, especially on older ships where there aren't as many specialty restaurants. But even if you paid for the unlimited dining plan at 200-300.00pp plus grats, it would still be cheaper than a luxury cruise line. As I said, I am easy to please, and I've never been on a cruise ship/cruise line where I didn't find something good to eat...I always pack on the lbs lol. And I am excited to try the new menu...I don't think it looks super exciting, but glad Royal is changing it up a little because the old one has been around for a while...I'm reserving my judgment until I experience it for myself, but I doubt I'll be put off by it.
  10. I am not loyal to any one cruiseline but food isn't a huge factor for me. I am fairly easy to please, I am a terrible cook at home and I do not eat out a lot, so cruise food is normally pretty gourmet to me haha! If the food really takes a huge nosedive (enough for me to be unsatisfied) I'll just pay the cost and get the specialty dining package. I'd do the same in regards to other low end/mid range cruiselines (Carnival, NCL, MSC, etc) A dining package usually costs less than 300.00 for two people, vs changing to a luxury cruiseline that costs thousands more and might not be the vibe I want. But everyone is different, this is just my opinion. And honestly, sometimes if the food isn't good, I eat less and gain less weight while on the cruise...I am a glass half full sort of person 😄
  11. AT MOST, I would have gotten them to the pier, showed them the ship, and said "hope to see you onboard" and got on the ship. This would be me at my most charitable lol
  12. If I ever reach pinnacle, I still wouldn't ever wear that pin omg. I am from Texas and sailed on Liberty out of Galveston and SO many Pinnacle pins. The snobbery was off the charts too. While waiting in line for the Top Tier event, I just couldn't believe the words coming out of their mouths. I feel for the room stewards
  13. I noticed a change back in Sept of 2022 with the pricing going way up for NCL sailings. I went on a cheap cruise out of my homeport of Galveston on Liberty and now I'm just taking casino offers from Royal until they dry up. I know I pay for it in the Casino, but lucked out this year and am ahead so I'll take what I can get.
  14. too funny, but honestly, they need to make it so that you can't purchase anything on the ship or get into your room until you do e-muster.
  15. I have been using the Philips Water GoZero water bottle for the past year in my travels and have been very happy with it. I can taste a difference when using it with tap water, definitely filters most of the chlorine out.
  16. I wish the e-muster would stay. I understand that maybe it needs to be tweaked, as it was put into motion quickly due to Covid, but I refuse to believe that the only option is to go back to what we were doing before, instead of just improving the e-muster.
  17. honestly, Royal Caribbean never had good meet and mingles before Covid(not talking about the people, but about RCI and their involvement) NCL however really knocked them out of the park before Covid and I do miss them. The officers would show up, they would have appetizers and some free drinks, and most of the time the cruise director would be there and would talk to everyone there. In addition to that, the officers would give you their card and one time I had a problem with my bill and the hotel managers card and our relationship really helped that out. I don't think they will ever be back the way they were, for either cruiseline 😞
  18. While I think maybe the e-muster could be improved, I don't see any reason to go back to the previous way of doing things. I dread it to be honest. I'm fine with doing something for safety that makes sense, but the old way we did muster drills was not good or informative...just a checkbox to tick off for the cruiseline and usually an uncomfortable 20+ minutes for passengers.
  19. Not the OP, but I did this in 2017 and they are pretty good at matching people with the jobs. and yes, you do go fast! No need for sailing experience, and you should definitely do it!
  20. Nope. I have a inexpensive stainless steel band I wear but I keep my valuable jewelry at home, not worth losing it
  21. He will have to wait until 2024. If you play March 31 2023, you are earning status/points for 2023, when you play starting on April 1st 2023, you are earning status/points for 2024. I earned Prime in Sept 2022 and my annual cruise comp will be available to me in April 2023 🙂
