Makes sense and I bet benefits are better too. There was another one of the more popular captains that left too but can't remember the name. Reports are that Princess in general has one of the more severe staffing issues whereas people sailing on Celebrity and some other lines feel they seem fully staffed. Again I assume pay and benefits are involved. Princess seems to be raising prices...reducing perks for repeat cruisers and in general losing market share. Shame as it was once a much sough after line.

any thoughts on why very popular captains like Tuvo and others are choosing to leave Princess for other lines? Is Princess not competitive with benefits and pay?

media reports indicate that he seemed to have issues finding the right spots to "vape" in and his family said he was probably drunk. I think this guy should be charged the full amount this cost the coast guard and what an extraordinary job finding him. Carnival sure has some issues with passenger behavior.

it seems most every ship leaves before sunset which frankly as someone who usually stays on the island is great....are there any ships that either overnight or at least stay until about 11pm or Midnight? Thanks.

Yes get a taxi and have him show you the island based on what appeals to you. Beautiful island and taxi drivers may be entertaining too. You could check Trip Advisor for recommendations by frequent travelers and arrange in advance. When large ships come in taxis become scarce.

in general Turks is all about pristine expanses of white sand beaches. Not much else other than luxury villas and hotels etc. especially around/in Grace Bay. They are having some gang related crime reports targeting tourists and if I were to dock here these days and wanted to see the island I would arrange a cruise excursion or private driver. It is a beautiful island but not really a "walking" kind of place except along the beach.

curious what all of that is? It seems like you are in dining room. They do not have coffee. I do something like that when traveling and like that early morning coffee in room before going to breakfast. Just curious...thanks enjoy your first hand info from the ship.

hard call these days...if you have a contact (planner) and communication is good I would say do all possible to get it turned back to a direct booking. TAs these days vary greatly in expertise...some are really valuable and some have not even cruised. Lots of caution needs to be taken if booking with an agent. I also like to book air directly with the airline to control route/seating and have direct access to the booking to note changes as airlines are not informing passengers let alone cruise lines of changes. good luck.

Not sure I understand this question. A better question is why would anyone NOT have travel insurance...covid aside. Also it is smart to compare Princess insurance to independent companies.

You have got the bases covered...hope it all goes well. Skip the bus type tours! Those don't look fun especially these days.

That is awful just like the chaos at airports etc. It is a tough time to travel in general but when the stress starts well before departure date even worse. I guess anyone going in the next 6 months? better use all expedited options available? It is not much better here in US.

not sure about Canada but processing here in US requires a long lead time....sent mine in and maybe took at least 2 months. It is just the way it is. The thing that got me about this thread is thinking Celebrity cared about it or would accommodate changes etc. And in response to the puns and humor correct totally missed it.
