I suspect that when our medallion accounts were first created there was an issue with getting  our captain circle numbers so the app just created a new

one. No real problem in those days. Nothing that really showed up. Since there is a number, it will not access the correct one. Thus the 2 accounts the one the  app uses and the one the princess web version uses. This is just speculation based upon how the system is working or not working but my hypothesis matches what you were told.

I just got off the phone, someone from Princess went into my personalizer and made an update and misspelled my last name which caused a second account to be created. The misspelling was fixed and the new account will be deleted.

The web personalizer is back to normal but the App is still wrong. I leave Friday so I’m not messing with it until after that.

Have you been able to get the status issue corrected?  I have found that in my case their seems to be some data that is not transferring correctly from the Princess system and the app. Such that the app works quite well for most things, but if a cruise is claimed and linked to my account on the app, it cannot be accessed on the web version. Instead it generates an error about booking already being claimed. Almost as if the system thinks that there are 2 different accounts. Even though both systems are logged into with the same information. That appears to be impacting the system not recognizing status during purchase of the internet products.

Going to work on it some more tomorrow.

Currently, the web version has updated my account with a new captains circle number 0 cruises and $0 FCD.

I leave Friday for a cruise so hopefully this doesn’t effect discounts in the shops or excursions. I’m calling Princess when they open but doubt it will be fixed since everything requires ticket creation

Funny that you say this, while making a new booking yesterday I was told that it looks like I have 2 accounts. I am unsure how that happened, has to be an error on Princess. They opened a ticket to try and correct my App issue and match it to the web version, takes 3-5 days to get someone to resolve it.

Last year, I bought several $500 Princess gift cards on Princess website during a promotion.  In January, I used them to pay for 2 cruises.  After paying for the 1st cruise, I still had one unused $500 card, and another $500 card with $200 unused balance.  So, I called to pay payment on my 2nd cruise, the balance was $950.  I planned to use the unused $500 card, used card with remaining balance of $200, and charge $250 with my credit card.  The Princess agent told me Princess system can only take one type of payment, either pay all with gift cards or all with credit card.  Since my remaining gift cards total only $700, which is not enough to pay my final payment balance of $950, then I will not be able to use my gift cards; I need to pay the entire $950 with my credit card.  So now I am stuck with the two gift cards that I can only use them if I happen to have purchase of $750 or less,

That again wasn’t the case in the past. I definitely used both gift card and credit.

    Geez!! Things are changing

  5. You can’t use it on the App and currently people are having issues using them prior to being on board.

If you call please report back your experience. I haven’t had issues using GC on “extras” before boarding but I’m reading about current issues.

    Thank You

I have a couple of cruises booked in 2023 and thought I might purchase a gift card for on board expenses and/or tips. If the card has an unused balance at the end of the cruise, is the balance returned to use on a future cruise or booking? I read the fine print on the AARP offer, and could not see this addressed. Also, does it matter if you have a physical card or ecard?

Just take the balance out in the casino and an ecard (email) works the same as a card

Where exactly did you see that option on the App.  I just went through my booked cruises (roughly 95 days worth) all of them show current full price, with no other option.  On the 5 previous cruises I have done this year, I have paid full price and gotten the discount in OBC on board.

The AP clearly shows me as elite, both customer service and the medallion support folks say that there is no other option on the ap, only the full price charge, with the discount given as OBC, same as with excursions.

It shows the discount in the App. this is how  I learned that my status was incorrect on the App.
My Mom is Elite as well and as explained above hers shows the Elute discount directly in the  App. The displayed  price includes  a note about being Elite with a discounted price to purchase no OBC reimbursement needed.

Nope.. Just went through the wringer trying to add the 3 cards I have to my account.  I originally called the casino dept whom I'm booked through.  They couldn't help me so transferred me to Princess customer service.  Princess customer service told me they couldn't do it and it would have to be done through their Onboard Services department, so they transferred me.  The Onboard Services department told me this can't be done pre-cruise and must be done once onboard at Guest Services.
At this point my frustration was off the charts, so I reached out through the chat function, and they gave me a number to call who handles the gift cards.  Turns out this was a 3rd party who only manages the gift cards for Princess, and has zero affiliation with Princess other than that.
In fact the lady from the gift card department was adamant that Princess says you can purchase OBC through your personalizer on the website with these gift cards.  I told her that was not a payment option on their website.  She insisted Princess says it is.
So I dig some further digging.  Turns out Princess will not let you add gift cards as OBC precruise.  Per their website: "The Princess Cruises Gift Card may also be applied toward the guest's onboard folio account once the cardholder embarks a Princess Cruise line ship for their cruise vacation experience.  To apply a Princess Cruises Gift Card to your folio, you must present your Gift Card to the Passenger Services Desk onboard your cruise."
So while you can use it to purchase a cruise, if you want to use it for OBC you're going to have to go stand in line at Guest Services and hope you get an agent who knows how to redeem these.

I purchased OBC by phone pre-cruise in November and had no problem paying with gift cards.

I’ve also never had any difficulty paying my account with them at guest services either. My only suggestion would be to avoid doing it on the first or  last day of a cruise since it can be busy.

Never had an issue before and have applied GC for excursions and OBC in the past. This may be a new policy.

    Hello,

I purchased the AARP e-gift card and received it in my email within 5 minutes.  I don't see a place to add the e-gift card on my existing booking through cruise personalizer or the medallion app.  Do I just add gift cards at the cruise?  Would love to do it before so everything is on my account.  TIA.

For OBC you can call and they will add to your account

    a) I called a couple of days ago and was told I had to pay in full now and the discount would be refunded on the ship as OBC, so it appears to still be the policy.

    b) Not willing to loan Princess extra $$$ for a period of time or risk Princess saying they would reduce the OBC by the amount of the discounted price increase, I preferred to pay the discounted amount now and was able to do so with the App.

Did the discounted amount show before you paid? I can buy it through the App

  11. If you have cruises booked, I suggest looking into pre payment if you haven’t upgraded  to a package.

Is the Elite Wifi reimbursement  still refunded as OBC?

    https://cruiseradio.net/princess-cruises-hikes-daily-gratuities-wifi/

Effective December 14th, for voyages sailing on or after February 20, 2023, daily gratuities for crew will increase to the following amounts:

    • Interior, oceanview, and balcony cabins: $16 per person (is currently $14.50)
    • Mini Suites and Club Class: $17 per person (is currently $15.50)
    • Suites: $18 per person (is currently $16.50)

The daily gratuities are shared among the many members of Princess’ crew, including those in hotel, dining, and entertainment roles throughout the ship. Those with existing bookings will be able to pre-pay the gratuities for their cruise at the current rate until December 13, 2022.

Also effective for voyages sailing February 20, 2023 and beyond, Princess Cruises’ MedallionNet wifi will cost $15 per day for a single-device plan, and $40 per day for a four-device plan. Currently, the single-device plan costs $10.

The line is also making an update to shipping for its Medallion devices, which allows guests to do things like unlock their cabin door and utilize contactless payment on board. Complimentary Medallion shipping to a guest’s home or office will continue for those purchasing the line’s inclusive Princess Plus or Princess Premier packages. Now, those who book a voyage without either of those packages on or after December 14th will be charged $10 per cabin to have them shipped. Medallions will still be free to pick up at the port

Well that's interesting!  We did have a guaranteed cabin for our cruise next month but I already knew going in that that's all they were selling in the mini suite category that we wanted to upgrade to when we booked.  By the way have they paid the balance on your December cruise yet?  We are on the same cruise and I was going to call this week to ask if they have paid our's yet.  We have that one and one next June booked as "comp".  And we may ignore any future comp offers and just pay for the cruise using the casino discount.  It's a great deal on paper but it's not worth the hassle.

I just double checked and the Dec 9 cruise has not been paid in full yet.  If you get through to anyone in the casino dept please let me know if that spurs them to make the final payment.

This has never been an issue for me. I always can select a cabin and in fact just did it 3 weeks ago for a VIP casino cruise in June

Exactly! I have never had an issue until this new booking, the manager even removed the selected cabin.
I have 3 upcoming sailings all with pre selected cabins.

The customer service is non existent as of late.

I’m not surprised by the OP’s issue at all

  14. Many, Many Issues.

recently we had an issue and were told by a manager we aren’t allowed  to select our cabin anymore.  We have always done this in the past on dozens of casino cruises. It was actually the manager who removed the selected cabin for a 2024 cruise and told us we could only get a guarantee.
The customer service is non existent and even though we always are targeted for the promotions when we call to book are treated like we are trying to scam them even with a postcard in hand.

    Frustrating.
