Could you tell me what the expiration date is on your tests? I'm leaning towards ordering them to have on hand and also for a trip we have to Europe in February. Thanks!

The tests I received Expire 1/5/22, including the extension period.

(We have  trips booked for that period so they won't go to waste but it's not that long of a span otherwise)

  2. My  BinaxNow Antigen Card 19 tests  arrived today from Emed.

They arrived Fed Ex and it took just a few days (over a holiday) 6 individual boxes and

    all are monitored.

I downloaded the App this morning and filled in my info, each box has it's own QR code.

Seems very straight forward for anyone still on the fence or looking to not spend $200 a test.

The six pack cost $165 with shipping.

These are also good for international travel back into the US, obviously not out that is governed by the country you are flying into. They are very compact and will fit easily into your carry on luggage so you can travel with your own test and not need to scramble to find one.

    Happy Cruising!

Thanks again. I chose the re-entry to the U.S. option and it did go through.

    Have a safe cruise!

I reached out to Matt who runs the Royal Caribbean blog about his experience and he said

For the Abbott Covid test, you just select "To obtain pre-departure COVID-19 test results for re-entry into the United States as mandated by the CDC"
This is confirmed as a valid reason for cruise travel.

He was provided the tests by the company and they confirmed that is the correct box to check for cruise travel

None of the Quest labs in Florida that I checked are doing any swab test.  The best hope we have is that Princess will make testing available at the terminal.

Or you could purchase a home test if you don’t need a PCR for international travel.

The testing at the port is most likely going to cost considerably more than a home test.

Hi everyone!  We are doing 7 B2Bs starting January 16, 2022 going out of Port Everglades, FL.  I am concerned about this that I read on the Princess site:  HELP!  Do we have to pack everything up from our room and then haul it all back on and unpack again!?????  I am becoming a nervous wreck.  Cruising used to be fun and we used to look forward to it, now I just wonder what will happen every day.  Everyone keeps telling us don't worry as you won't be cruising come January.  Here is the info from Princess site:

UPDATED: Will I be able to book multiple cruises, back-to-back?

Yes, back-to-back bookings will be available for vaccinated guests, subject to availability.

Guests on back-to-back voyages will need to disembark the ship at the end of each voyage, receive a complimentary viral COVID-19 test, and will be permitted to board the ship again once they receive a negative test result.

Guests who test positive for COVID-19 will be denied boarding on the next voyage, together with their family members and close contacts who are not fully vaccinated. If you, your family members, travelling companions or other close contacts are suspected of having COVID-19, you are entitled to a 100% Future Cruise Credit.

We will closely monitor all guidance and will adapt and evolve this policy accordingly.

Worth looking into. The above isn’t specific enough to know.
On Alaska cruises people didn’t report disembarking. It could be like past B2B where you just walked off and back on (after testing) but what happens to your belongings if positive? I would follow up with Princess and ask for further  clarification.

If the test is to be administered or done by a medical professional, how do you prove to the cruise line that person on the other side of your computer screen was a medical professional (doctor, pharmacist or nurse)?

Semantics, not administered but observed or supervised..

i live in LA: closest Rapid Antigen Tests thru Walgreens are in WA and NV, Rapid Antigen Tests thru CVS are done only in Minute Clinics with only out of packet pay starting from $129 (both chains have regular PCR tests available with 48-72 h turnaround timeframe to get results).

closest Palmdale location offered from Princess is 60 ml away one way, Corona location is 67 ml away - it will be about 2-2.5 h one way with traffic - it is much easier for me to drive to LAX

If you are traveling soon look into the home test, considerably cheaper option.

Are the rapid tests not available for you where you live?  Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid all have rapid testing options, as does my local airport.  Results are within a few hours.

They all offer testing for PCR in my area but rapid tests are few and far and it seems that is the case in a lot of  areas.

Don't you still need to make an appointment for the live video supervision?  Has anyone encountered any issues with doing the live video or scheduling it?

Wait times vary, i shared an article earlier in this thread that showed an increase but it wasn’t experienced by everyone.

I thought the test had to be “medically observed”?

These are medically observed, there are at least two good at home options. If you check out the “Here It Is” thread lots of resources about home options including a video have been shared.

Regarding self test, it must be medically supervised:

CruiseHealth™ FAQ: Sailings from the United States

    Updated September 2, 2021

"Vaccinated guests may use a medically observed self-test (sometimes referred to as home test) that meets the following criteria:

    • The test must be a SARS-CoV-2 viral test (nucleic acid amplification test [NAAT] or antigen test) with Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Please note, antigen tests are accepted for fully vaccinated guests, but not for unvaccinated guests.
    • The testing procedure must include a telehealth service affiliated with the manufacturer of the test that provides real-time supervision remotely through an audio and video connection. Some FDA-authorized self-tests that include a telehealth service may require a prescription.
    • The telehealth provider must confirm the person’s identity, observe the specimen collection and testing procedures, confirm the test result, and issue a report that meets the requirements of acceptable proof of a negative COVID-19 test."

The above options/information  shared about binaxnow covid-19 ag card home test  are  medically supervised

Avoid the stress and buy the Abbott monitored tests, $150 for 6 tests, so no searching for a test, no worries about results or insurance, no stranger sticking a swab up your nose, and no contacts with possibly infected people in clinics or pre-boarding testing rooms. If you plan to eventually travel to Europe, it's also a perfect test for re-entry to the US, instead of searching for a test in a foreign country and risk missing a flight. It also gives a backup plan if a local testing falls through, so it avoids that stress, or the stress and cost of using port testing as a backup. Just make sure it's an Abbott Ag Card test, only available through emed.com or optum.com.

This is what I am saying!

Bought 6 this morning since there may be a run on  them with updated protocols.

Maybe they "did" but I think people have been abusing the testing and it will no longer be paid for unless a real reason......not travel.  IMO and also what is being reported.

I have to test often for work and community spread is a real reason.

I also have to test for work if requested by the athletes I work with, there’s no box to check for that 😁 so a “valid” reason at this point can be pretty much anything.

They still submit the same insurance information. I'm sure your insurance carrier would pick up on two claims for the same person on the same day but I doubt the government would notice or even care for that matter.

It’s not a big deal to test twice in the same day considering the percentage of error involved.

i wouldn’t worry about paying out of pocket if you are at a facility that is marketing themselves as free .

But will insurance pay for two tests on the same day?  It's only free to us because insurance or the state are picking up the tab. If insurance or the state doesn't pay you will be receiving a bill from the lab.

Insurance most likely won’t cover many  but the government program will pick it up.

The testing center I used multiple times submitted to my insurance and was denied and the gov’t program paid for them all (I live in Florida)
