  1. I have never had a problem adding the other person in my cabin to my credit card during the on line check in. THere is a box to click when you are doing the check pre-cruise check in on the app. It asks whether the credit card applies just to me or to the entire cabin. Then on the other person's check in, it shows that "someone else is responsible for your bill." There was nothing to need to be done after boarding. As usual....don't believe at least half of what Sailor Services Shoreside says.
  2. The app argued with me about my daughter's passport for weeks, but took mine the first time--no explanation. It finally accepted hers. As others have said, good luck. I understand you wanting to have everything done in advance, but it shouldn't take long at the terminal if the worst happens.
  3. If you run out of bar tab, you can totally pay as you go against your loot. BUT, you cannot turn loot into a bar tab as you implied in the earlier post. And you CANNOT pay another $300 for another day. A bar tab is either purchased or given as a perk before boarding. If you do not have a bar tab or if you use up your bar tab, the next source of payment for any charged beverage purchase is any loot you have left. If you use up all the loot, it will be charged to your credit card. In every case after boarding, the amount you are "charged" for the drink, whether the charge is covered by bar tab, loot, or credit card, is the amount shown on the menu + any local taxes required if the ship is not in international waters.
  4. The only very adult show has been canceled. Some of the shows could be on Disney, some have a fair amount of innuendo, but nothing overt. I was concerned about Bingo with the Diva, but it was hysterical. For what it is worth, I travel with my young adult daughter who has been my cruise partner since she was 4 years old. We both love Virgin.
  5. Exactly--short cruises tend to have more drinking and acting out, more party atmosphere, as well as the feeling of "we have to do EVERYTHING." Long cruises tend to be more relaxed, less of a party, less or a frenetic atmosphere. People know they have time to do things and likely will be back.
  6. The ship departure was delayed until 9 pm, which would be in the middle of dinners, shows, etc. The Sail Away Party was held at 7 pm. I'm not sure how to make it any more clear.....the ship didn't start moving until 9. We partied at 7 then went to dinner, so we didn't see the ship start moving,
  7. Most places on the ship can do things without the sauces or the toppings. You just need to specify what you want. We had no problem getting various items omitted. Gunbae and Test Kitchen might be difficult, but other places were not.
  8. THe app won't open for the health declaration until 24 hours in advance.
  9. When our Miami departure was delayed until 9pm, the sail away party was delayed until 7pm.
  10. What is a triple sea view cabin? I will confirm that VV sends out many stupid, irrelevant emails that used to scare me. I would get things saying I had made changes to my reservation when I had done nothing. My "first mate" was always able to see that nothing had changed in her documentation . As Walter said above, contact your agent immediately so they can figure out what is happening and fix it.
  11. My only comment would be that short vv cruises are quite different than longer cruises. Still, 4 nights will give you an idea of the food, amenities, etc.
  12. The reason your membership retailer can't book Virgin is that VV requires every agent to take their training, at least on the entry level. THey don't accept one agent at a location or...each agent at your retailer would have to do the training. Gotta run...will give a better answer later,
  13. You are welcome. I'll add a little about TAs. I AM NOT one and do not work in the travel industry in any way. I have worked with several agents thru the years as well as doing my own bookings. My reasons for booking thru a TA for VV include things like long waits to take to Sailor Services and the possibility of getting someone who hasn't a clue what they are doing when you do get an answer--let the TA wait on hold for you...and they might get to talk to better trained agents. Many agents are able to get you perks in the form of extra loot or bar tabs. This happens particularly when they have recently sponsored a zoom event with VV--the perks are actually coming from VV but are only available to people who book thru that agent for a limited time after the program. There are also agents who give a portion of their commission as loot or another perk to their clients. An agent who knows the product. an give you all sorts of info and tips on how things work or how to make your life easier. They have a separate portal where they can manage your stuff; for instance, I recently had the app crash 27 times while trying to book dinners. I sent the info on what I wanted to my agent who booked then for me that night rather than waiting for Sailor Services to open at 8am. My agent has an app where whe loads ALL my info--flights and hotels I have booked, etc. so that I have one place that has all the info for my cruise. Yes, I already had it elsewhere, but this allowed me one place to click for everything I'd need. What to look for in VV is a "gold" agent. That's their top tier in training, etc. I also want someon who has used. a product recently, and if I can find someone who has been ranked as top 100 in the US or top 10 in their region, that's great.
  14. I know that my agent has book on the phone essentially all day trying to speak with her clients after they got the VV email and an email from her. She was at a theme park in FL when the stuff came out and gave up her day in the park to call clients, which was, of course, the right thing to do, I had a TA previously who played the "you just deal with it and let me know if there are any issues" bit. Suffice it to say that the person is no longer the agent I use. But I do appreciate Walter's post above telling us that in this case there is very little the agents can do; the best ones are still keeping in touch with their clients and offering what they can,
  15. Many times they load excursions slowly as the cruise date gets closer. You can also check for private excursions which are often less costly. Just be sure to use a reputable company.
  16. I think it depends on the specific ship and length of cruise. On the 14 and 15 night cruises we've done on VV, there have been various entertainers that I believe were there just for the longer cruise. We had a "mentalist" and a "magician" who were not part of the Happenings Cast and both could have been considered stand up comedians. In addition, there was a person listed by name only who was supposedly a comedian...that comment tells you what I thought of her...and a couple of other acts that we didn't see.
  17. In the past, the bit of rebooking after boarding worked, but recently people have been reporting that it does not work any more. I wouldn't hold my breath and try to book after boarding for 6 people if it is something you really want to do.
  18. All my sailings have been on Valiant with the most full at 1813 sailors (number per sailor services)
  19. Sorry about all of the above. All I can say is that I have 29 nights on board and have done several walk ins, several "night of" reservation, and was only turned away once. The fullest cruise I was on had 1800 sailors.
  20. There is no dress code, There is a request that you wear something red. This can be a red bandana, a headband, a pocket handkerchief, a pair of socks, a tux, a devil costume, a ball gown, or whatever you want. There are scarlet night activities all over the ship. It starts with a telling of the "legend of scarlet night," moves on to a dance event in the roundabout, up to the pool area, and and after party in the manor, Meanwhile there are smaller activities all over the ship. If you see a dressed up Happenings Cast member, follow him or her--there will be something about to happen somewhere. There is no way you an see or do all of it in one cruise, Relevant to you us up to you.....
  21. Wow, that's different than our experience. First, on embarkation day you can go to Razzle Dazzle for help with changing/making dinner reservations, They will have several people there assisting sailors. Sailor services would not help with dining stuff; they said we had to go to one of the restaurants. We also often went to a restaurant at 6 to see if we could move our time-- not that we had a 6pm time, but we thought that going early would be a smart move. Your TA can make all your dining reservations for you--let them know in advance what you want, If they won't, find a new TA. Also, you can call shoreside sailor services and they can make reservations for you, but for them you need to wait till 8 am New York time on the day res open. I've NEVER gotten all my res thru the app. My most recent experience was a few nights ago where I got 3 nights booked with 4 crashes and then 27 crashes with nothing accomplished. Quick message to TA, and all was done.
  22. Everything can be done by the lead cruiser on a single smart phone.
  23. Absolutely no worried, no matter which port or which baggage drop off location you use (in BCN, there were 2 options!). The porter or VV crew member will print your tags and apply them. THey just need your name. Keep the tags on the bags--they are also used for disembarkation so your host does not need to re-tag things. Not needed if you are doing self disembarkation. The other thing VV does differently with bags is that we have always had them in our cabin 15-20 minutes after our check in!
