Fantastic photos shows just how much work is going on it must be costing an absolute fortune in scaffolding alone! Would be very interesting to hear from Cunard about what they are changing looks like a great big filter is being lowered into the stack. They need to get a move on with the painting though!

Not to mention the dry dock will already have the next ship waiting for it.I do though get a sense that Cunard not wanting to cover the re fit from a PR point of view... Its NEVER BEEN MENTIONED OFFICIALLY can only mean there are known unknowns about what they are doing with the ships plant/equipment...Normally there would have been some kind of press release or official Cunard videos of the work in progress it is all very strange, frustrating and unusual.

There were some floating around. looks ike Deck 8 in particular is having major works but no one seems to know if this is cabins being replaced or removed to gain access to other equipment that needs changing? It seems all the pools and hot tubs are being refurbished and the carpets at least the corridor ones are being renewed.Im not at all bothered by internet changes as I value my phone being switched off for a week at sea but this is all being upgraded. There is a lot going on why Cunard chooses to keep all this a secret is beyond me. In previous re fits Cunard have produced videos of behind the scenes work which was really inserting and helped brand loyalty and we are all super interested Cunard?

I've yet to have been on a warm voyage on QM2 and in the Grills. Hoping to put this right this Christmas PG in the Caribbean. I guess the point of this stairway is to give grills guests access to the pool on Deck 8, if a dip in the pool is fancied rather than being restricted to the Grills only Jacuzzi on Deck 11. I'm hoping to take advantage. We were in the Grills Once before it was an Iceland and Canada trip to New York via Liverpool 2019 wonderfully journey but not much sunbathing to be had.

Oh Wow thank you so much for the information all the above we are only in New York for the day so want to make the most of it. We will use the ferry as its very convenient and I will try booking the skiing thanks John for the advise.Millieloulou that sound fabulous and the Pools are going to be like brand new too after the refit. Flying home from New York on the 3rd Jan so can only take One suitcase its going to be squeeze to get everything in for this trip! 42 days and counting! Touchstone and Pear we will get the Cunard bus tour of New York on the 3rd Jan as will have another day so I believe you can book tour on board and that drops off late afternoon at JFK ?

Mrs Liberal baggie and I will be traveling to New York Westbound on 15th Dec for some Christmas present shopping. So we will be taking winter walking gear as I guess its pretty cold? but looking forward to seeing New York at Christmas time which will be a first. Which is the best place to do ice skating? What's the best store to buy each other a modest present that we can take back on board are there any restrictions? On the way out from New york how long does it take to start warming up? i'm thinking Ski gear, shorts swimming trunks. dressing up stuff . Modest value suitcase, 64, balding, Thanks in advance...

Just an observation when running around the deck l usually get in around 18 laps-2o laps before jumping in the pool then change for beer and evening meal . It does have a bit of a fruity aroma at the port end of deck 7 that seems to emanate from above. Is it some serious plumbing problem that needs to be fixed rather than a cabin refurb?

Yes that would raise some revenue to cover the costs of the re fit or part of it. Speculating that a new route to the back of the ship rather than through the restaurant as now happens? On another site . Looks like things that weren’t done in 2016 like the pools are being re furnished,,, great news!

The other tip if going to New York is pay for One of the porters to transport your bags through immigration to avoid queuing! just a nice fat tip for the service and the porters and the immigration staff are more than happy to help you beat the system. I haven't done this myself as I'm not loaded but on observation I've seen plenty of cash rich guests sailing through the line.

Go early say 1pm and get lunch in the Golden Lion No one checks your supposed arrival time at all in anyway. " Keith if everyone took a pebble off the beach there would be none left"

Can you get vegan cream tea on Cunard?

Sounds like poorly trained forklift drivers it all goes in big cages that are lifted off by fork lift trucks (FLT). Unless Cunard staff have overloaded the cages. It can only be poor training and supervision. Maybe the supervisors failed to turn up due to the floods? and it was just left to the FLT drivers to unload and a failure of a plan. Bad luck but not the end of the world folks.

Yes just got the upgrade offer in Princess grill at moment Dec 15th crossing and Xmas Caribbean 19 nights and staying put... unless they offer free upgrade...

Basically unless you are a near alcoholic the drinks packages make no financial sense. The wines packages maybe make sence .

Will we be able to request things we like to make at home like vegan lasagna and vegan toad in the hole? The vegan menus look a bit weak to me. Do I need to bring a cook book from home to give to them? Do we need to request special items are on board? No fish No Animals eaten here thank you?

I am very much looking forward to traveling on QM2 15th Dec- 3rd Jan over the Christmas and new years holidays. She is due in November for a refurbishment. What do you hope to see improved? The last lot of major improvements 2016 came with the costs paid for by extra cabins and dog kennels. Can they get any more cabins on board? Can they convert any to more Grills cabins? I hope to see the Spa pool and facilities upgraded. I would like the old bookshop back or a better choice of interesting things to buy less tack and rubbish please. The grills lounge is a dead loss what about a bright lights society instead for the QM2 ? What about a decent outside dining venue on the top of the ship? What about some paid for music lessons on board? or Language schools?

We are on from Southampton for 19 days in Princess Grill this time I’m veggie wife is vegan be pleased to dine with you at some point?

I’ve had a great day out with a local guide in his car who took us to Peggy’s cove the titanic graves showed us beautiful shore screens the spot where a plane crash happened. The anchor that flew a mile after the explosion! Local artists workshops and told us so much about Halifax . Name was Dave private tour brilliant ! Day when QM2 and Queen Elizabeth met up in Halifax !
