  1. I think you guys are correct. The rep had to put me on hold several times to clarify things with someone above her and at the end of the call she made sure to indicate that things were subject to change!

I'm just going to wait until August, when people sailing can give first hand accounts. Far too often the reps get shore side info, that doesn't match ship side reality.

  2. ..."Would you please take our picture?"

    "Why sure."...

    ..."Thank you."

As a solo cruiser, I have been in so many situations, where there was no one around to even ask.

Those of us that hike or don't go off with hordes of other pax, love the selfie sticks to get those great shots.

  3. Someone can take a 12 pack of soda, carefully open the cardboard at one end, remove the cans of soda and replace them with 12 cans of beer, then reseal the the end with superglue or hot glue gun.

I've seen security open up and inspect the contents, then tape it back up.

It's not their first rodeo...lol they can't stop everyone, but if anyone is that obvious, they will get caught.

  4. What was the deciding factor to the reversal? Was it the threat and or cancellation of cruises and possibility of future cruises or the amount of voices against what NCL was introducing. This can help in the future if we the consumer do not like new policies that affect us the consumer. Happy sailing to all....

Looking for a singular solution is rarely the best course of action.

I would guess it was the combination of social media, cancellations, calls and emails to NCL. Consumers should always use a multi pronged attack when trying to effect change or voice displeasure to a new policy.

  5. And after final payment if the price drops on a higher category cabin you can upgrade for the difference if there is a difference. Remember with the early saver its a nonrefundable deposit, those rates always scare me. If something happens, $500 down the drain.

Down the drain only if you never sail carnival again. If you don't sail carnival regularly, cancel cruises often,or cruise once ever three years..early saver is a big risk.

You will be given a cruise credit, minus $50 that can be used for up to 2 years.

I never book Early saver unless the initial price is $100 cheaper. Plus I know that I will sail with carnival, multiple times a year.

  6. Magic doesn't have Seadogs... Unless they added it recently..

Not sure when it was added, but she does have SeaDogs

  7. We were at Falmouth in March on the Serenade. If we go to Jamaica again, would probably like to go to a different port. Which would be better, Ocho Rios or Montego Bay?

I would first decide what you would like to do in Jamaica. I have docked at all three and they each have given me great port days.

  8. I don't know whether the following is a common practice among all cruise lines or just Holland America (which is the only one I've been on lately), but when I'm eating in the Lido I always leave my chair tipped toward the table if I'm getting up for whatever reason and am planning to return. So far it's always worked.

As I said, I don't know whether or not this is a recognized sign not to clear the table on all lines.

That's a common practice at ship and land casinos for slot players who want to save a machine while they go to a bathroom. Guessing that's why it was done in the buffet.

I think many can try different things, doubt there is any universal method that will work across all cruiselines.

To the person that mentioned saving seats,I would imagine that's the last thing they would want to advertise. People would abuse it

  9. Of course it is about money, what would you expect from a business, they are there to make a profit. I totally understand that, whether I like the rules or not. Why is it so important to take a positive and turn it into a negative? Many were concerned about getting food from the buffet and eating by the pool; we have now learned we will still be able to do this and yet, so many are still unhappy!!!!

Remind me again how this is a positive?

  10. My guess would be that enforcement will be in the form of a "cleaning fee," if Housekeeping reports finding glasses and/or dishes in a cabin -- and there's no record of room service being ordered since the last room cleaning. So there will be even more dishes left in the passageways than before. And if they try to bill a similar fee to any cabin that happens to have dishes outside its door, there's going to be a lot of angry people visiting Guest Services.

Can't see that as a viable option, way too easy to get around that. Maybe they just hope the majority plays by the rules.

It will be interesting to hear reports of people boarding ships that will be clueless about the change.
