  1. We are staying at the Hilton Galveston Island Resort, and are leaving our car there for the week. When I called, I was quoted a rate of $65 for parking. They do have a shuttle, I'm not sure if there is a charge for that.
  2. You didn't mention when your cruise is, but I would suggest contacting Saltwater Moms sooner, rather than later. They book up quickly!
  3. Yes, we're from Wyoming and used the toll roads driving through Houston. We received a bill in the mail about 2 weeks later. One piece of advice is to not slow down or stop when approaching the tolls. There are booths but are no longer manned. Not knowing, we slowed down, preparing to stop and pay. The car coming up behind us honked their horn and flashed their lights at us. Had we stopped we might have caused a pileup. As we drove through we could see the booth was empty.
  4. I have an Android phone, and while connected to the WiFi onboard, I've found that I can send text messages the regular way, but it won't send pictures or attachments. So, I communicate with family back home using FB Messenger. I can send both texts and pictures through Messenger.
  5. We booked the Hilton Galveston Island Resort, 5400 Seawall Blvd. They do offer a package that includes 7 days parking and shuttle to the cruise terminal. You could call them directly to get the shuttle rate if you don't require parking.
  6. As long as your bookings are linked in their reservation system, you will be Platinum on day 1 of your first cruise. Call Carnival or ask your PVP or travel agent to make sure this is done. As noted above, your luggage tags for your first cruise will reflect your new status.
  7. We're sailing in December, and yesterday I added Carnival cruise insurance to my booking and paid for it. After checking, I realized that I had already purchased insurance through insuremytrip.com. I can't see any way to cancel the Carnival insurance myself, is this something I'll need to call them for?
  8. Looking for recommendations for parking for our upcoming Carnival Vista cruise. Would prefer covered parking and a short walking distance, if possible. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  9. Our favorite time to cruise as a family is over New Year's. Our age range has been 4 years to 70+. Everyone is still in the holiday spirit without the pressure, the ships are still decorated, and it's a nice break for us to escape the cold and snow. The itinerary must include some beach time, and we go for at least 7 days. Cruising is the perfect multigenerational vacation, as there's something for everyone, and you don't have to be joined at the hip for activities, etc. Great way to start the New Year!
  10. So is the OBC divided equally between just the adults booked in the cabin and not any children listed on the booking?
  11. We have 2 cabins booked for our upcoming New Year's cruise. These have been booked for over a year and are paid in full due to a previous cancelled cruise. Both cabins are booked under the primary guest's name, with the second guest listed as TBD. Does anyone know what the deadline is to add the additional names to each cabin prior to sailing? 30 days, 60 days, 90 days?
  12. You don't need to go insde the terminal building to drop your luggage with the porters. Just make sure you have your tags attached, drop them outside the terminal, and you're good to go until your assigned check in time. Our favorite lunch/dinner spot is either Katie's Seafood or Willie G's. Both are on the waterfront.
  13. Yes, they do, they offer them with their fish tacos. I'm sure it wouldn't be any problem to sub them out for any item on the menu.
  14. There are shuttle companies that will provide transportation from both Houston airports to Galveston hotels. A quick Google search brings up several options.
  15. If you've never been to Galveston, a suggestion would be to take a shuttle from the airport to a hotel in Galveston and spend your time exploring Galveston. There is a trolley service that will take you around the downtown Strand and all up and down Seawall Blvd. Galveston has a lot of history, a cool vibe and delicious seafood fresh from the Gulf. Uber is also available on the island. Great way to start your vacation!
