  1. Nice if you want to tour towns.
  2. Ipanema has the bowling alley above. Can be noisy at times. Neighboring tables moved after 1st night. Didn't bother us!
  3. I have often wanted to do this but my wife objects.
  4. Yes, I get it. May I ask if you do suites on Royal? We did Bella and found it very nice compared to Rccl non-suite experience.
  5. No drinks allowed to be brought onboard. On Seaside in May, soft drink machines were all out of order. Fill your water bottles at any fountain onboard to enjoy free water.
  6. That $ amount is most likely similar to our spend over 50 Royal cruises in various cabins from JS to insides that we pick. Just for comparison... not arguing your point. (Some were last minute bargains no longer available. )
  7. Very nice! That is great. Enjoy your upcoming status change. (Your post reminds that there are valuable perks that we might be taking for granted. Thx for the reminder.)
  8. We have not found this to be true. Try to get a table for 2 (never mind in a great location), into a lounge, or help with most anything. D+ means nothing.
  9. Some for the worse. CCers like to brag about work arounds and/or hack that worked. Then low and behold the option is banned by Royal. I'll bet you remember some of those. 😉
  10. The lady at a nearby table on MSC was vegan. She had lots of questions but always seemed happy with her choices in MDR. I also think that I saw vegan section in the buffet. Our kids and grands love VV. Grands are vegan and Celiac. December price was amazing w/ $600 OBC and $300 bar tab... the secret w/ their prices is to book the "Extend the Glo" special. Past/current "sailors" can offer it to up to 10 others for any future cruises they want to book within 2 weeks after cruise.
  11. The new menus were our breaking point to try other lines. Plus the unappetizing options in WJ for 3 weeks. Trying VV in December. Will report our experience.
  12. We are considering losing $900 in deposits for same old 3 weeks on Explorer January to move to 21 nights on Divina. The $s saved on having to eat in specialty restaurants on RCL make it a wash. Your problem might be water. If I remember you like a specific brand. You can't carry any on and it's not free with Bella. Imagine this: use the bathroom at night without waking everyone in adjoining cabins because of those rr doors that sound like a garage door opening. MSC ships are beautiful, clean and so well maintained.
  13. We were lucky enough to get an amazing TA tip and are very excited about the pricing. We'll be booking all of our cruises with him. 😊
  14. It ain't one of those fancy "live" reviews but tried to cover the important stuff. Hope this works!
  15. Sure, each to his own. A majority of our Royal cruises were insides. D+ balcony discounts often make the price too good to pass up though. So we booked an inside Bella experience on MSC. Apples to apples! But they assigned a great midship balcony on deck 13. If I was cruising Sky Class on Royal, MSC would never turn my head. You have the right idea. Enjoy.
  16. Pasta is a side choice to delicious meals. My wife had broccoli instead. Prime rib, steaks, etc were much better than Royal.
  17. Did you read my review of our May cruise on the Seaside. Looked at through the eyes of someone with nearly 50 Royal cruises. Bottom line: beautiful ship that is very clean; friendly staff; great food in MDR and buffets; anything and everything we asked for onboard was granted with a smile. We did miss our 5 daily drinks but mostly because we use them for water to drink during the day. Only spent about $30/day on booze and the lower cruise price made up for that.
