Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Did you get a list of what would have been included with the cabana? I know the location isn't great on Apex/Edge, but I'm more curious if they are still including drinks and lunch.
  2. Looking for any 2024 experiences in the cabanas on Edge class ships - specifically what was included (drinks/food) with the rental and if the service was decent. The information online seems to be from 2023 or earlier, so I'm curious if they've cut back (limited soda, no alcohol, etc.) Bonus points for any Apex specific reports! Cheers!
  3. That's my thought. The full fare of 2300 was allocated already between the first two guests on the Celebrity invoice. I just want to remove the taxes and gratuities for the third guest so it's the same as if we had done a double occupancy room to begin with. That might work. I'm curious if I could just switch the name but keep the extras in the second solo room - for example, I was planning on adding wifi and drinks for my solo room, but the others are traveling as cruise only. I'd like to avoid any complications with that, so getting it sorted out before final payment would be ideal.
  4. I'm currently booked on a November cruise with 2 other adults, on a "3rd guest free" fare. I was listed as the first guest on the Invoice. The 3rd guest breakdown came to about $400 for taxes, fees, and gratuities. I'd like to move to my own cabin, leaving guests 2 and 3 in the original room. Because we are ahead of the final payment and guests 2 and 3 would remain in the same room, I thought the total for that original room would just be reduced by the $400 extra we paid. Our TA is treating it as a new booking so the first room is only $100 or so less than the original booking. Is there a better way to accomplish what I'm looking for here? If I, as "guest 1" on the original room don't check in for that room but do check in for the additional room I'm getting, would we receive a refund of the full $400? Or am I stuck with a "cancel and rebook" situation because I was listed as "guest 1"?
  5. They had it on the Ascent cruise out of FLL over Christmas in the retreat lounge during tea time. Perhaps the authorities shut them down.
  6. Do you know how many Royal Suites were available prior to your bid being accepted by chance?
  7. How was the experience? Food/service/company/wine/etc.? We're looking at this for our upcoming Reflection cruise and I've seen mixed reviews.
  8. My daughter is 5 and went on her first Celebrity cruise over Christmas. We now have two more booked with her (and a few without her). She LOVED the kids club and the pools, getting ice cream at every meal, and going to the various ports. When asked if she wanted to go back to Disney or do another cruise for our next vacation, she picked the cruise without hesitation. She would absolutely go down a waterside if it was available, but that type of cruise line would drive me insane (too loud, too much energy, etc.). So Celebrity it is for us.
  9. I was one away from Select and our next cruise is March 30, so I'm taking it!
  10. Newer target market here (late 30s/early 40s, one 5 year old kid), with a few cruises and more booked. All with Celebrity. First was 2013 in New Zealand as part of a extended family trip - I selected Celebrity based on the reviews and the itinerary and had a fantastic time. Because of that experience, we booked a trip with friends to Alaska in 2017 - this time with another "target market" couple - DINK, 30s. We had planned an additional cruise with the same couple on Celebrity to the Galapagos in 2020, but that was cancelled due to the pandemic. Both of the cruises we took were in standard balcony cabins. Due to a bump in disposable income, we are now planning on cruising more often, in the Retreat. This kicked off with a family trip - me, my husband, and the kid - over Christmas 2023 on the Ascent in a Sky Suite. While I was disappointed in the size of the room (I think the 6 years of no cruises made me forget how small the standard balcony rooms are, so the "bigger" Sky Suite didn't seem as impressive), the cruise itself was great. The Ascent is a great ship, and having not had the pleasure of a butler before, I didn't "miss" anything that was previously provided... though I follow the forums regularly and was aware of butler-gate and the complaints about service. I did sense that the room attendant was very overworked and less chatty than the attendants on prior cruises, but it didn't take away from the service (aside from making me feel guilty about any requests). We were happy with the service we received in Luminae and in the retreat lounge, and liked the grab and go diet cokes. And while there is a lot of talk about Celebrity being "THE WORST" for kids, our 5 year old loved the experience... the kids club staff in particular was outstanding with a VERY busy trip. She loved the pool and hot tubs, and like all the other parents we saw, we kept her on her best behavior. We have 3 cruises booked - all with Celebrity. 2 are with the kid - 1) ABC islands - March 2024 on Reflection in a Celebrity Suite (with a move-up bid for a RS), and 2) Key West/Mexico - April 2025 on Connie in a RS. August 2025 we are traveling with our DINK couple friends (and no kid) for a trip to Norway and the Arctic Circle on Apex in a Sky Suite. I'm also considering adding another short trip for myself alone in October 2024... assuming they can work out the solo cruiser kinks. I've done plenty of research on other lines, and frankly the companies that target the younger crowd are much less appealing... I don't want a booze-cruise atmosphere, nor do I want loud music blaring from the pool deck at all hours for a non-stop party... sign me up for the silent disco instead. I like attentive service, and am looking forward to see what the butler adds to our experience in March. There were hints of this on our Christmas cruise - the head butler walked us to dinner one night and we arrived to snacks a few days in our room when they knew we had excursions planned. Those little touches were great, as we're not the type to ask for extra things, but appreciate them when they happen. We very much appreciated our daughter being treated like a princess by everyone we met - and frankly the special attention only helped reinforce her good manners. My only regret right now is not booking the next two trips on E-class ships, as the Retreat Sundeck was fantastic. We traded that off for the better suite, so I will see how that shakes out over the next few trips before booking more. At bottom, Celebrity will be getting the majority of our travel dollars unless we experience a significant decline in service, which I think is unlikely given that we will only book in suites going forward.
  11. On my recent Ascent sailing they indicated there was no children's menu available at lunch.
  12. In a SS on Ascent over Christmas and we had lip balm, chocolates nightly, slippers, larger tote bag, and received the "take home" robes a few days into our cruise.
  13. Not much in terms of feedback. I think we are just going to wing it with the itinerary they suggested and modify on the go. We just got back from a cruise with a stop in Cozumel and did a private tour there, but my daughter loved the first stop (beach club) so much that we only got one other stop in. We booked Gone Caribe on Curaçao based on recommendations elsewhere. We also booked with Isla Aruba for a full day private tour in Aruba, and Lady Bellias for a half day snorkeling trip in Bonaire.
  14. I was surprised to see the pricing on it for that reason - higher than usual markups on the lower end reds, less than usual markup on Caymus. Certainly worth the $8/glass upcharge with the premium package IMO.
