  1. I have had some for years, don't remember the brand. Got them on Amazon and they came in tubes like you get shammies in. Get them wet and wave them in the air and they get nice and cool. If you are getting on and off a bus...or a guide has a cooler with waters, try dipping in the cooler water for an extra refreshing feel 🙂
  2. I'm scheduled for 2024 but will be interested to follow this one to see how it goes. I originally selected Early August but now I think I might change it to late June.
  3. We did this cruise in 2019. No additional shots or meds needed. We did bring our own kit with meds for just in case issues (diarrhea, upset stomach, headaches, allergies, moleskin for blisters, etc.). We went in April and it was HOOOOOT. We had cool towels and they a life saver. You might think about bringing some drink mixes to rehydrate. When we got back, my husband who drinks a LOT of water, was so dehydrated that his kidney function was impacted.
  4. I am very excited on both accounts. She's not always made the best choices in life (as a teen and young woman) and has come so far so I want to celebrate her and her accomplishments. I'm very interested in this area of Europe. I lived in Germany for 3 years so I got to see a lot but never got to these areas.
  5. Not 2023 but I booked Germany to the Black Sea on Avalon with two days in Prague and two days in Translyvania for 2024. Taking my daughter to celebrate graduating nursing school. I haven't cruised since 2019 so I'm excited.
  6. This is where we stayed in 2016. Great host. Amazing location. Loved waking up in the morning and enjoying my coffee sitting at the window. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1151056?source_impression_id=p3_1674320983_CHEEBo0xQ24NxQLO Taste of Prague: https://www.tasteofprague.com/ Also if you want to get some AMAZING photos while there...check out: Johnny's Photo Tours: https://www.facebook.com/JohnnysPraguePhotoTours https://www.johnnyspraguetours.com/
  7. I really wanted to try a cruise with them but their website frustrated me way too much. I hope they get that fixed.
  8. I'm back after a break...life got in the way of cruising for a while. We really enjoyed our Mekong cruise a few years ago. I just booked Aug 2024 The Danube from Germany to the Black Sea with 2 Nights in Prague & 2 Nights in Transylvania. Going to add a few days in Prague so I can show her around before we embark. I got her to watch "Operation Daybreak" while she was here visiting recently so I have her excited about seeing some of t My travel companion on this trip will be my daughter. I'm taking her to celebrate her graduating from nursing school. I've so excited and wish it was sooner but since I'm planning on making this a "royal" experience for her I need time to save and pay for everything. Going to add a few days in Prague so I can show her around before we embark. I got her to watch "Operation Daybreak" while she was here visiting recently so I have her excited about seeing some of the historic places there. Looking forward to researching and planning. If anyone has done this cruise I would love to hear from you.
  9. We did this cruise 3 years ago. I will have to look and see if I did a review. It was AMAZING and can't recommend it enough. We moved from Hawaii to Texas right when we got back so I can't remember If I came back to share or not.
  10. CruiseMark, We don't drink either. We asked to have all unwanted items removed from our fridge so we had room for what we wanted in it. They kept us stocked with water and a few sodas that we did llike. I am also an avid photographer. When able I would wander into town without the group to focus on my photos. Often my spouse would find a local gym and while he worked out, I would take photos. You can, as others have said, easily wander a bit on your own with a tour group but be mindful of time. I can recall a couple times where our entire group was held up because we had several people on our tour that had zero consideration for others. Let your tour guide know what you are doing or make sure you know where the group is meeting up and when, My husband is not a fan of group dining either. I don't care either way. On our Vietnam river cruise (can't recommend enough if you love photography) we met two lovely couples who were traveling together ... that adopted us . We did often times have breakfast alone at a two seat table just because we never came down at the same time. Dinners we usually met up and sat together. 3 years later we are actually still friends with them. If you aren't comfortable with something, talk to the crew...they will take care of you.
  11. I've been to Prague about 7 times, going back for visit 8 in August 2024 in to start a Danube cruise with Avalon. I always add at least 5 days on my own. Prague is an amazing, beautiful city that is so easy to navigate on your own. So much to see and do and so easy to walk or arrange tours. Taste of Prague is an amazing food tour. If you are into photography, I can recommend a great photographer that does tours. I found a great AirBnB that overlooks the old square facing one of the churches and right around the corner from the Astronomical clock (can recommend that if you want as well). We flew in and the AirBnB had a driver that picked us up.
  12. Good afternoon. I am planning to take my daughter on Avalon in spring 2025 and looking to do the Danube. I want to reserve for the best possible timeframe where we are less likely to have water issues. I know a lot can change but I'm just looking for the general historically best months to avoid being transported via alternate means due to water levels.
