Thank you very much for posting this Jeroen @Alphen. That must have been very special , possibly there must have been a lot of tooting back and forwards  when the 3 ships met at arrival and / or departures ! 

I have had connections with all 3 of the Rotterdam ships , as a young boy growing up in The Hague I was witness with my brothers near the city of Rotterdam when in 1958 the than Queen Juliana baptized the Rotterdam V which than after the bottle of champagne broke on her hull slid gracefully into the Nieuwe Waterweg  ( September 13 or 18 ,1958 ! )  In 2023 I finally had a chance to walk onto the now Hotel ship SS Rotterdam for the very first time , she is still beautiful ! 

After we started cruising we have been a couple of times on the Rotterdam VI on Trans Atlantic cruises and going to the Baltic Sea , we loved being on her , she truly was the flag ship that had something special .

Last but not least we were booked to go on the very first cruise on the Rotterdam VII when Covid broke out and all of a sudden everything was cancelled but than finally had the pleasure to do the 2023 Anniversary cruise when on April 18 , 2023 we came into Rotterdam exactly 150 years after the company officially was formed. This was a very nice cruise with a number of dignataries on board and numerous celebrations .

I have even had 4 appetizers a couple of times and NO entree than they made two of these appetizers look like an entree and served those two combined on one dish .

This was also on the N Statendam this year . 

In my view the company saves money specially if I also not ask for any side dishes.

Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes , so far we had a wonderful day on board ship in Rotterdam where I was ably to bring my nephew and his family on the Nieuw Statendam for a wonderful visit and a nice little lunch together . We are a little delayed with our departure because this morning environment protesters had blocked the cruise terminal so some tours were late and people were half an hour or more late to get off the ship .

thank you also for the good wishes for DW birthday on the 18th , I think the last 7 years both our BDs have been on board a BHB !!
 

looking forward to a very nice itinerary to the Canary Islands .

We are also giving the cabanas a shot , we have booked an inside cabin for a week because we almost always only sleep in it and watch very little TV so than for a lower cost of a Veranda Cabin we hope to have a much quieter surroundings and more private space than around the Lido pool where all these people lay books on the loungers at 5 or 6 in the morning , which is such a bad thing that people do . Hope that HAL is starting to clamp down on that .

So we are trying this on one of the Pinnacle Class ships to see how we like it .

Thank you all for the good wishes after a little birdie from Victoria , named Ann @Vict0riann told you about our 55 years of Wedded Bliss ( which according to Mrs Google means : The Happiness experienced by people who are married !  )  

It is unbelievable that it has already been 55 years , Time flies and I think the love for each other, the love we have received from our children , friends and family and the time we have spend at sea on Dam ships have enriched our lives a lot !

Good Morning from Ft Lauderdale!  It’s wonderful to be in warmer weather.  We are at Hyatt Place on 10th Avenue, one block off 17th.  It is a nice hotel that I booked through ValueTrips because of the price.  (There are many pilots and flight attendants at the breakfast bar which I always think is a good sign.). We walked to the Boatyard for dinner last night.  Excellent setting next to the intercostal, excellent seafood but a bit pricey.  Plan on Ubering to the Nieuw Statendam about 10.  I did request a wave for Sailaway.  We will be on deck 5 in an aft cabin.

Gardening club member HAS to speak up - Tony, Tony, Tony - it’s only February and a degree above 0 is not enough for seeds.  they need at least 10 degree Celsius (preferably warmer to germinate.) And you have March to get through.  I know you’ve had warm weather for winter but it’s not planting weather and guaranteed freezing  weather is coming (if not snow) if it doesn’t freeze at night.  

 

Save your energy and make up for it when the weather is compatible. 

 

Hi Jacqui @kazu thanks for including me in the Gardening club and for advice, much appreciated.

I know usually May 24 is the last day for a chance of frost in our area but leaf lettuce can take a little frost from what I found out a few years ago . Right now I might do some prepping , like raking leafs because we live in the woods and dig up some weeds  , I need the exorcise , and towards the time we are leaving on the N Statendam cruise I will double check the 14 day forecast and just sow some of those seeds , they usually germinate here in about 7 days and than we hope and see if there is lettuce when we get back . Nothing better than in the afternoon cut some lettuce for dinner that evening after a couple of hours in the fridge . I might even try spinach and Swiss chard ......what is a few dollars in seeds ?

Hello Jacqui , We have added a 7 day cruise on the Nieuw Statendam on Mar 31st , Eastern Caribbean this just before we do the 28 day on the same ship from Ft Lauderdale to Rotterdam and the Canaries  that you already have posted . 

Thank you very much keeping this list up to date and also for doing the Daily for Rich .

I bought mine at about $42 about 8 years ago and at the time we received besides the OBC also a dividend . Last year I bought another 150 stocks at about $11.00  to bring down my average price and all these stocks have now been paid for and more.  

If you cruise a couple of times a year  $ 14.79 to my thinking is a good idea .
