  1. Just be aware that most of the pier side places that stamp your passport are not government stamps but courtesy stamp by private entities. We don't want "vanity stamps" in our passport. Others may not mind, but we only want official government stamps in ours. Roatan comes to mind as one of the pier side stamp places that are private not official government stamps. I've never heard of the ship's crew getting your passport stamped for you unless it was an "official" requirement.

I knew that the stamps were not official stamps. Places like Belize and Roatan I wouldn't be vacationing there without it being a port stop on a cruise. Most of the countries I visit is through cruising anyway.

  2. It's not entirely true that an adult gets "cut off" from spending when a limit is reached. Last year on the BA my bf cc has a fraud protection on it and the cc will not authorize a single charge more than $500 in 1 transaction, so, forgetting he has that fraud protection on his cc, disembarkation time comes, he doesn't look at the bill left in the door, goes to swipe his key card to get off and there's a balance due of $220 something dollars. He couldn't get off until the balance was paid.

Also, a kids spending could be easily monitored, especially on NCL'S newer ship, by pulling up the account on the tv. There really is no blame on NCL'S part of a kid overspending. It's a parents responsibility to monitor it, not NCL'S

  3. I heard directly from John he is headed to the BA. He was supposed to go to the Gem but they changed his assignment a week or 10 days ago.

John D'Souza? last April he was on the Dawn, then vacation, then back to the Jewel and I had a cruise booked for this April on the Jewel and he told me he'd be on when I was sailing.

  4. There's 2 episodes of Mighty Ships on Smithsonian channel featuring the Breakaway. One on the build and one on the inaugural sailing. I have them both on DVR but as far as I know they are not available online, believe me, I've looked.

I found both episodes on YouTube after it was posted on cc that it was airing in Canada awhile back. Someone posted both episodes on YouTube

  5. I've sailed on the Dawn out of Tampa to the western Caribbean and I have the Dawn booked again to Bermuda for this August. I've don't the Breakaway to Bermuda twice (the second time we got diverted bc of the hurricane :( ) I like both ships and I live in NY so going on the Breakaway is easier for me but I like the Dawn also and want a change this time to Bermuda.

  6. I've never understood the issue some people have with the word "minisuite". Especially the need to parse out part of the word as a basis to compare it to something else. If people are thinking that a "minisuite" is a suite simply because it contains the word "suite", then they should also think that a "person" is always male because it contains the word "son".

Cabins on the ships are advertised as having a "minifridge"...does this cause anyone to have difficulty telling the difference between a full refrigerator and a minifridge?

Or should we ask NCL to rename them as Deluxe Coolers?

    Lol :p:p

  7. Look on your most recent reservation confirmation, if you made any changes before sailing, the booking date, that is within the 9 months then you have the bonus. If you made any changes that does affect the date.

  8. As I recall, all Haven suites sleep at least 4 souls, including the Spa suites. I know on the Epic, our H4 had an additional bedroom, bath and a convertible couch. I don't see a problem for your DD using the convertible;)

Haven Spa suites on the Breakaway and Getaway only sleep 2. There's only 1 king size bed in the cabin and can't be split.

  9. Most of my cruises are summer cruises and I've booked at least a year or more in advance and all the cruises I've booked have gone up in price. My last cruise this past August I booked 16 months prior and it went up $1,000 since I booked. My cruise for next Aug already went up close to $500.

  10. Is there an indoor adult pool on the Breakaway? I haven't read anything about one but am hoping there is one.

Yes there's an adult pool, it's by the bar and hot tubs. The pool by the slides and splash area is the kids pool.

  11. Yes, there was a table set up at the pier to purchase it before boarding. If your sailing during cold weather the spa will probably be crowded. I sailed the BA last year and this year. I had the spa pass last year bc it was included in my cabin category (Haven Spa Suite) I didn't purchase one this year. I mostly used the spa after we had dinner, about 8:00. Most times we were the only ones in there at that time. The spa closes at 10:00. There a lot of chair hogging for the heated loungers but if I saw an empty one with a towel on it I took the towel off and used it. There's about 12-14 heated loungers and if it wasn't being used I felt it was up for grabs.

  12. How much smaller is the balcony on the deck 11 aft penthouse suite vs deck 9? Also, the deck 11 layout means tub and shower aren't open to window right? Does the bathroom get enough light

The balcony was plenty big. I didn't have any complaints about being in that suite and I would book it again bc I loved having the door open from the bedroom out to the balcony. The bathroom had plenty of light. I love that set up better than having a window in the bathroom. And I think deck 9 has a pole on the balcony? I'm not sure but I know that's something I would not want on the balcony.

  13. Not true. This tech has been around for years and is fitted onboard NCL's older vessels as well.

Leaving the door open in my AFT Penthouse suite on the Jewel didn't affect the AC and it didn't affect the AC system in my AFT Penthouse on the BA when I left the bedroom door that lead out to the balcony open, but the door to the balcony in the living room had the AC sensor on it. I slept with the door open on both cruises to listen to the wake.

  14. 12904 had a second bathroom that was about the size of the bathroom in a balcony cabin. The main bathroom was the size of a balcony cabin lol! We too used the second bathroom for our children.

I had 11908 which had the opposite bathroom set up. It was huge! I had no window in the bathroom and the bedroom had a second door out to the balcony. I think decks 11 and 14 have that set up.
