  1. I had a conversation with a restaurant owner in Cabo regarding the Medallion merchant deal. He told us that he has to give Princess 30% of the charges that are made via the Medallion and that he was not renewing the contract with them once it expired at the end of last year. I think many merchants are going to do the same, it is not a good deal for most of them. IMHO another flop by JP!
  2. On the app, go to Travel Companions tab and enter all their booking numbers to link them to you. This will link reservations but not payments. You will have to see Guest Services onboard to get that setup.
  3. You might be confusing hair dryers with surge protected power strips? My DW has always brought her own hair dryer and curling iron.
  4. On July 6th, we are sailing on the Emerald for a 16 day Hawaii voyage. We are traveling with our daughter, son-in-law and 9 yr old granddaughter. They originally booked an inside cabin on Plaza deck. A few months ago, they received a free upgrade to an Oceanview on Plaza. After they made final payment, they placed a bid for a balcony upgrade. The bid was $300 pp. Last night, they were informed that their bid was successful and were assigned a mid-ship Balcony cabin on Aloha deck. This cruise has shown unavailable to book for some time now, so there were still some empty cabins floating around or they had some cancellations? Either way, they are very happy!
  5. Hopefully, you could choose a color of your choice! 😃

  7. A few of those have moved on from Virgin. The pasture was not any greener. One returned to Princess, another moved on to MSC, a third is now on a privately owned mega-yacht.
  8. Here is a link to a recent thread on topic...
  9. There are now many female Managers (Headwaiters). There was a female Maitre'd (Oana from Romania), since the startup she now has a corporate position going ship to ship training crew. She was most recently on the Sky.
  10. Many were not happy with the reduction of salary and it has caused quite a number to move over to other cruise lines. We know several of them.
  11. Not trying to nit-pick this, but below are the current titles onboard in red as it relates to the chain-of command: Food and Beverage Officer Food & Beverage Director Maître d'hôtel Director of Restaurant Operations Assistant Maître d'hôtel Lido Manager Assistant Manager Restaurant Manager (and yes, each (Formerly Headwaiters) restaurant has a "Manager" Supervisor Assistant Restaurant Manager Waiter Jr. Waiter For many years now, there has been a Supervisor level between a Waiter and a Headwaiter.
  12. The Assistant Maitre'd is now called the Lido Manager. Head Waiters are now called Restaurant Managers. Personally, I preferred the old titles. With the title changes also came salary reductions.
  13. We will be on the same cruise with you. I'm also 6'2 but we book mini-suites mostly because of the shower/tub enclosures. So much bigger than the standard shower enclosures. Aloha!
  14. We were on the Sapphire in March for 32 days (Buenos Aires to LA) and below is a photo of the hair dryer in our mini-suite.

  16. We always travel with backup pairs of Rx sunglasses and several extra pair of readers. I can't tell you how many times I've lost readers in taxi's/cars/buses/trains! We buy ours in bulk at the "big box store."
  17. For those who missed my Live thread from the Sapphire a few months ago, I posted what we use to stream via the TV while charging our tablet at the same time. The HDMI cable goes from the back of the TV to the below adapter. I use our tablet charging cable from the below adapter to power source. And the tablet is connected to the short cable coming out of the adapter.
  18. You only have to cover the sensors which are about the size of a quarter. We use black electrical tape.
  19. You may want to follow the below thread on the Sun Princess...
  20. I have not heard any mention of when the Grand will be leaving the Princess fleet. It makes sense that as the oldest ship in the fleet, she will probably be the next to go. We have never used the app to order anything other than room service. We do not mind walking to the nearest bar and ordering our drinks. Call us "Old Fashioned." 🍷
  21. Below is the current Deck plan for the Majestic for your review... https://www.princess.com/deckPlans.do?shipCode=MJ
  22. Wow! I'm very surprised that your experience on the Emerald was so bad. We have sailed on the Emerald 9 times and have our 10th Emerald voyage coming up on July 6th. We have had only great experiences on the ship and she is one of our favorite in the Princess fleet. Hope you have a better experience in the future! 🙂
