  1. PJS Taxi if I remember correctly.  My sister is up at 5 am regardless so there is no stress. Is it actually possible or not is the question.  Just comes down to when they actually open the gangway if it opens at 6 then it can very easily be done.

My recommendation to the family is to enjoy the extra day in Alaska and fly out the following morning however my sister would like to get back home that day.

  2. Trying to catch a 11:15am flight out of Anchorage at 11:15am.  I will arrange for a private transfer to get me from the ship can I get off the ship at 5:45 or 6:45? According to the Alaska department of Transportation the tunnel opens outbound at 6am during the summer. I am willing to handle my own luggage. Sailing on the Royal Princess.  Any flights later than this would require a overnight to get back to Alberta Canada.

  3. Has anyone been able to arrange a private transfer for pickup at 6:45am from the ship?  This would enable access to the 7am tunnel opening getting to Anchorage in time for a 11:15 flight.  Flying to Alberta Canada so no other flight options that don't require staying overnight somewhere other then ones even earlier that morning.

You can plan on 3 hours at least from your tunnel time.  First tunnel opening is 0600, but I don't think they disembark people that early.  Next tunnel is 0700, which would be iffy.  Depends on how fast you can get thru the airport.

Google maps shows 90 minutes.  Is google maps that far off?

  5. Looking at booking a cruise to Alaska next summer half the group is only doing 7 night north and the other half are doing 14 nights return.  There is very limited cabin selection for the 14 night cruise however looked at booking 2 7 nights b2b and there is more cabin selection even some of the same cabins are available both directions that aren't available when booking the 14night..   What is the disadvantage of booking 2 7 B2B rather then one 14?   If we are able to book the same cabin can we just leave our stuff in the cabin between cruises?  If we have to switch cabins what would be the procedure for that?  Would you have to check-in at the terminal for the second cruise or could they just do that at guest services?

Yes, if you feel you will be using ‘room service’ often to justify the Ocean Now activation fee, then as long as you use Ocean Now to order food/items to your cabin/location, then you will not incur a ‘room service’ fee. The $5 room service fee is charged for each stateroom ‘Phone’ call for room service, unless you have Plus or Premier.

@memoakresponse above assumes you are still ‘calling’ using phone for room service.

Yes so if you ordered food or drinks to you more then three times you would be money ahead correct?  What food can you order from the Ocean Now?  Full room service menu?

No if you use the phone to call room service you will pay $5 each time unless you have a package

Would this work as a work around?  Pay the Ocean Now fee $15 then use it to order food to your room for free, hence bypassing the room service fee?

There are pictures of Daily Programmes from Queen Elizabeth's Alaska season this year in this thread which will give you some ideas.

Thanks this was very helpful.  Looks like it might be hard to find a late breakfast onboard?  Since you filled out the form for Canadian customs in Victoria does that mean you didn't have to do customs in Vancouver during disembarkation? I would love to try Cunard for the classy feal and good food but not sure as the entertainment really doesn't seem to match my taste either not into sitting listening to live music or dancing.

  9. What is Cunards normal cancelation policy (booking from Canada) in regards to the deposit?  Looking at doing a cruise to Alaska next year with 5 other couples.  Half the couples aren't vaccinated for Covid so they are concerned about what happens if vac requirements are brought back in.  Would the Cancellation Fee Waiver Program work for that?

  10. Yes have cruised most of the main lines before.  Looking for good food, good service, good main theater evening entertainment and a beautiful ship.  Was thinking Celebrity might be a step up in class from NCL/RCI but from recent reviews it sounds like maybe it isn't?

  11. Looking at maybe booking Queen Elizabeth for next summer to Alaska.  Have cruise most of the main lines RCCL/Celeb/NCL/Princess/HAL  what can I expect different on Cunard would be booking Inside/OV do I still have access to most of the ship with that category of cabin?   Looking for good food good main theater entertainment.
