  1. This is what really irks me, when we find a lower fare and want to upgrade, but never have any luck retaining the original perks in the booking. My husband has called 3 times in the last 2 weeks to upgrade because the fares have lowered, and he gets the same answer: you will give up your original promo. He is quite persistent, but it never happens for us.

Hi everyone. I was the OP for advice on cruising after gastric sleeve surgery. Just to update, I was on track for the end of this month (1/19). In Sept 18 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My bariatric surgeon put me on hold until this is taken care of. Fortunately, it was caught very early and after surgery and radiation, I’m on my way to recovery. I’m not counting the surgery out, but we’ll have to see. Our May cruise is still on and I’m trying to lose on my own. So far I’m down 26 lbs and working on more.

I'm so sorry to hear you had a setback.Best wishes during your recovery. AND fantastic job on the weight loss!!!

Horror of horrors - the recipe for the agnolotti (the creamy veal ravioli) in Alfredo’s has been messed with! It is no longer the luscious velvety cream coloured sauce. Now, it’s sort of a brownish pumpkin colour and the taste is not the same 😢😢. Anyone else experience this? I had it twice and it was the same both times.

Yes! I was disappointed in the color and the taste is no longer the same.

I only seldom drink beer, but my wife likes an Iron Butterfly.

    Ingredients:

    - 1 shot Vodka

    - 1 shot Kahlua

    - 1 shot bailey’s Irish Cream

Pour vodka over ice in an old-fashioned glass. Add kahlua and irish cream, and stir. Garnish with 1 - 3 optional filbert nuts.

This sounds great for after dinner. Thanks for sharing!

I am happy to hear that she is in good shape.  We will be on Nov.1 in Aqua Class for a 4 day cruise, can't wait.  My husband and I will be relaxing, eating and enjoying a couple of beers.  I will write a review when I am back. I am sure that we will have a great time.

I will be there with you on that cruise. Meet me at the martini bar 🤪

  6. Please do not be disappointed. We just got off the Regal today and had OMs. They are just about useless. They worked to unlock our door about 75% of the time and that is IT! the crew isn't using it with the exception of the check-in process. Nothing works and you are not missing a dang thing. Our next Regal cruise in November is not ***** and I won't miss it one bit.

  7. There is no separate line anymore for general boarding or priority boarding. It's handled once you check in, you go to your designated area and board in priority that way, at least that is how it was done on the Regal last week.

Is that because there is no line outside anymore? Our last Regal cruise there was no real line outside the terminal and it took us about 5 minutes to check in once at the desk. I was wondering at the time if it was just a fluke or something.

  8. That magazine has always struck me as just a vanity publication by a couple freelance travel writers. Used to buy it at Barnes & Noble a few years ago. Is there anyone here who subscribes?--I wouldn't risk pre-paying for issues of a magazine whose future existence seems tenuous at best.

My mother has subscribed to Cruise Travel since the 1980s. Back in high school they published one of my letters about our cruise on Sitmar. I remember thinking I was a published writer at the time. I even showed it to my English teacher. It made my year lol :o

  9. We sailed last year close to Easter and the staff had spring-themed crafts for the kids in the piazza one day. I remember there was cookie decorating and other fun things. I've sailed both lines with my kids, do admit to sticking to Royal Caribbean when they were younger, but that was only because that was what was kind of expected with smaller kids. If I still had small kids now, I would pick the Regal over Enchantment for the kids, but if you were going on a Freedom class ship or larger, I would pick Royal. Those are my 2 cents. Enjoy your cruise!

  10. I am in search of a new group of favorite drinks. I have new dietary restrictions that include little to no sugar. My old favorites were mimosas in the morning, bellinis, and Hendricks and tonic. I also loved the occasional dirty vodka martini with extra dirt, but I'm afraid those may be too strong for me now. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  11. Well... I am 7 years out, and I was told no alcohol till I hit goal. Personally, I wouldn’t drink that soon out... I’d bring crystal light packets to mix with water.

Note, I’m still under my goal weight. Now, when I cruise, I eat/drink till satisfied, and gain a little but diet when I get home. I waited about 1 year to start drinking.

Thanks for your insight. We ordered a couple of cases of bottled water and I am bringing my favorite drink packets with us, so I'm sure I will be happy with that. This will be the first cruise where I actually use the gym, so I can't wait for that.

  12. Our next cruise is in 28 days. I will be about 9 weeks out from gastric bypass. I am little anxious about this because my favorite things to do on a cruise is eat and drink at the bar. I need to find new favorite things to do, but I have no idea what! I was thinking that I can still sit at the bar and order a cocktail, but have a water with it and sip on that one drink as long as possible. What do y'all think?

  13. Super! We have not yet joined the Roll Call. Maybe no news is good news? I guess I need to check my emails again to make sure I haven't missed anything . . . Thanks!

In our experience, no news is no news. They never sent us an email regarding the fact that we were not in the ***** cruise. We had to find out about on cruise critic. If you really want to know, just call them. They will tell you.
