  1. Most of the tolls on the turnpike are manned tolls. you can pay cash at these. As long as you stay on the turnpike you should have no problems paying at the time. There are a few smaller exits that are not manned and they will say exact change needed or give you a warning sign that you need E-pass. No need to purchase a transponder sticker. Mom22 gave great advice about staying on Disney property. You will absolutely need a car if you are staying at an outside hotel. Winter Garden is a little ways from Disney, so a car is needed.

  2. This is an interesting topic. One of my first childhood cruises was on Sitmar. It was a Panama Canal sailing for 14 days. I've been cruise obsessed ever since. I had no idea that we could get credit from such a long time ago. Time to pull out the pics!

Also, while you can get fancy coffee drinks and freshly brewed coffee at the International of course you can also get them in the desert area up in the Horizon Court and also at the bar outside the Princess Live studio. So if the line is long at the International or you want a special coffee with breakfast at the Horizon Court there is that option. You pay for them of course.

This is a great tip. I used to go to the Princess Live area to get my coffee drinks. There was never a huge crowd.

  4. My preference is for a table for 8 (with only adults). On one cruise, we had a table for eight that included a family (mother, father, two sons around 9 and 12.) I'd probably ask to be switched after the first night if this happened again.

For just this reason, we requested a table for 4 with our 10 and 13 year old boys. We would not want to spoil anyone's dinners, nor would we want to spoil our dinner with people who aren't receptive to kids. It's a win win for everybody :D

  5. Although it wasn't an upsell, we were booked in an aft deluxe balcony on the Regal for March. My husband is a diligent price watcher and noticed the prices for mini suites dropped. His first phone call to Princess he got the standard "new bookings only" answer to upgrading. He called again a half hour later and got a different person. This time we were able to get the mini suite for $100 more total!
  6. I've recently been on both RCI and NCL. We are diamond on RCI and still like sailing with them on occasion, but Princess has a leg up with the quality of food and a slight edge on service. You couldn't pay me enough to set foot on another NCL ship ever again. Our last 2 were enough to last a lifetime.

  7. My husband is going to kill me for telling this story, but.....:p

Many years ago while we were cruising on Mariner, we were have a nice evening at what was then Portofino's. An officer came to our table and asked how we were enjoying our meal. We chatted for a few, and when the officer left my husband asked "Who was that? The headwaiter?" I said, "Uh, no, that was the captain." We got a kick out of that one.

  8. This isn't really an answer to your question, but I just got off a NCL cruise and we changed the clocks back twice and then forward twice for the week. It was so confusing and I have never experienced that before. Every other cruise I've been on went by ship's time the whole trip. At least as far as I remember. :D

  9. We just got off the star also and believe me the staff made you feel like you were a nuisance to place an order, one runner actually only went to young girls, I told my wife I cant believe this, we actually watched him go girls to girl as I kept yelling for him that I was thirsty. Never again!
I saw this happen as well. Because I wasn't a hot 22 year old I was ignored frequently.

As for the rest of the experiences regarding this sailing, I have to say it is all true in my experience. The service was the worst I have ever experienced. Still, we had a great time on the worst ship. A bad day on a cruise is better than any day at work ;). The food was above average in the dining room, and our room attendant was good too! As far as sailing NCL in future, nope, not gonna happen.
