He is not listed in Journeyview lineup that I could find.  Sorry we will miss him.

Darren Dowler says he’s doing a couple shows with the band during this cruise.
Maybe he’s not listed as having his own show yet. I’m not sure. He just got off a Celebrity ship, but now has dates booked for the Grand and a couple other ships. I hope you catch him.

  2. This probably won’t help at all because I fly into LaGuardia, but I agree with the previous person. I always come in a day early and then go back in the morning for the shuttle. They’ve never done a dummy flight. They pick me up at the same area my flight arrived at the previous evening. My documents say what terminal, etc. Sometimes I have asked at the information desk for help in identifying the NCL person because she steps in and out, but it has never been a problem. I would call back and ask for someone else to look into it.

There may be more cruises to Hawaii in 2022 getting canceled.  I am currently booked on the March 10 Grand cruise out of LA.

When I do a search on Hawaii cruises out of LA without entering any ship criteria it only shows the cruises on the Crown.  If I specifically add the Grand to the search criteria then the Grand cruises show up. Could be a bug, or it could be an indication of Princess starting to make changes

The reason why I was checking is because I heard a rumor from one of the entertainers that Princess was reducing the number of Hawaii cruises in spring 2022 and that the Grand would not be doing Hawaiian cruises during early 2022.

The Grand came up on a search for me today.

  4. Like the previous person posted, I just read that San Juan is a Covid hotspot and they’re recommending limited travel there if that’s important to you. My friends are sailing on the Epic in December and aren’t concerned. I won’t go. Things could change by then, but too many worries for me.  If Covid isn’t an issue at all, I would go for a new (to you) ship and itinerary. Pre-Covid I would have done that. As long as you don’t care about the funky cabins.

What clothing/gear should we bring for a trip in October? Rainshell, rain pants, etc?

It’s going to be cold. Warm jacket, hat, gloves and rain gear. Layers. It’s hard to predict weather. It could be pleasant. I went late September and my CA friends brought winter coats.  Me, being from MN, brought a medium weight jacket. I froze. It’s an unusually warm year. Hard to predict. It will definitely be cold for glacier viewing.

  6.  The season started late due to Covid, so some of the cruise lines decided to add some extra cruises on at the end to make up for it. This is completely different than other seasons. We don’t know if some shops and restaurants may decide to stay open longer than normal because this isn’t normal. They want to make money if they can. Whales do leave, so I wouldn’t expect to see many. I sailed late September once and it was cold and it had snowed already, but that was several years ago and we have global warming now. It’s hard to predict. Days will be shorter. Personally I really want to go, but haven’t booked yet. I like the idea that I might see northern lights. It’s definitely not the same as cruising in July, but it’s still Alaska and beautiful. More than anything, it’s still a cruise.

Who do you use for the Medevac policy?  I'm looking up extra policies online and they seem fairly reasonable.  The Nationwide Prime plan is around $90 for my 5-day Cabo RT on 9/25.  It shows up to $1m in evac coverage plus $150k in medical.

Can anyone offer some other suggestions for coverage?  I have the Princess Platinum plan but even after reading all the fine print I have questions about it.  A dedicated policy seems a wise move.

I have always used Medjet. I should add that I haven’t traveled since Covid, so I haven’t checked out their coverage recently. If you’re a senior, they used to give AARP members a discount.
