  1. @0106, I decided against doing a Live From, as I don’t know what I will be doing that’s of any interest, but I’ll certainly be posting here, and I’ll try to answer questions. I have sailed on two of her sisters, but never on this ship, so it will be interesting, especially after most of our more recent cruises have been on Pinnacle class ships. We are going to miss all the extras that were available on the “big girls”. After a long time of swearing we’d never sail on such large ships, they have become our favourites. Still miss Prinsendam, though!
  2. Evidently there is going to be a zombie parade tonight on the Rambla. But We are going to dinner with some of the roll callers, organized by @kochleffel. There will be a Mass tomorrow for All Saints at 9, in Catalan, in the cathedral across from our hotel, so we will probably attend and then check out and head for the Oosterdam.
  3. I can get on page 1 because we are in Barcelona, and our ship is here, too! But they won’t let us on until tomorrow. good morning, Dailyites, hope everyone is feeling well, or if not, at least a bit better than yesterday. I am having a lot of difficulty walking, and I know I am going to be a drawback on this cruise. Our 3 flights here were very tiring, and not comfortable, really. It’s no fun flying anymore.
  4. Good morning, Dailyites, and Happy Birthday to Graham. 🎂 I'm sure there will be food porn tomorrow! I do approve of vegetarianism, but I don't have the will power to stick with it. DD occasionally makes a meal for us which we enjoy. DS and his partner are Vegans, though, and that is such a nuisance, they make entertaining very difficult. I am trying to decide if I should do a Live From on our TA coming up - I'm afraid it will be very boring, but we do plan to have internet. I haven't been on a Vista ship for a while. We did a South American cruise on Zaandam some years ago and had an overnight in Callao. The day before, we had had a boat tripin Pisco and I had used a new sunscreen on my face, and had a severe reaction to it, My face got more and more swollen the first day in Lima, the second day I stayed on board and had to go to the medical room and had a steroid infusion, while Pat went on a city tour alone. The first day we had gone to the Pachacamac ruins, and to the horse show. Pat made friends with a horse, and as he went to leave the horse whinnied and Pat had to go back for a final nuzzle. He has a great affinity for horses.. "Don't go..." "Without a goodbye kiss" From Pat's day in Lima
  5. Good morning, Dailyites! Thanks and prayers for Vanessa and Tana and everyone! We had a quick visit to the hospital yesterday to clear up a little problem Pat is having but I think I will be able to manage it while we travel. Nothing is going to stop us! I am having more and more difficulty walking, too, so I'm thinking I'm going to just stay on the ship a lot.... I dreamt last night that I lost my stick in Frankfurt airport, not looking forward to the long flights we are in for. But I'm partially packed. Someone on the roll call posted that there were only 6 or 7 verandahs available on this latest upsell offer, and they went quickly. We didn't even get the email. But I was interested yesterday to read that the AARP OBC is now available for already-booked cruises. I will try to get our PCC to add it to our cruises for next year... when we get back... if I remember... I think we were in Castries on our one and only Caribbean cruise with our DD. We took a boa trip. I'll see if I have pictures that are worth posting. We had a lovely day of rain yesterday and more expected today. The reservoir numbers seem to be turning around. Wind has brought down the last of the acorns I think, and I need to get outside and rake them out of my flower beds or we will have a huge crop of oaklets in the Spring. The gardeners come tomorrow and will haul them away.
  6. Evidently, in the underground shops in Diocletian's Palace, there is GOT stuff. You have to pay for the privilege, but it has an oculus to rival the Pantheon! PS Well, maybe not rival, but it does have an oculus...
  7. There is also premium internet for two devices instead of the regular "surf" for just one; it all adds up.
  8. Hi, Tony, Keep the ship happy for us! I have found that wifi on the ship usually averages about US$10 a day, even with our mingy 5- star discount! But I'm happy to hear you have it and can keep in touch. Are you going to have a Cellar Master dinner? Sign us up if you are, for the TA! See you soon!
  9. Good morning, lots of news early in the day. I agree, we should have a new thread every day - the Fleet Report changes daily. I do think we should get to choose which of the four MOLES we want, I would choose the sauce... Lily looks lovely, and thanks for the reminder that it is DS's birthday. I will email him as soon as I get off the Daily. I spend my time rolling my eyes at Pat's weird sense of humour, I guess that makes him the greatest ever! Disaster day today, DSIL (in Perth, WA) just emailed that she has tested positive for Covid and they are due to fly to India tomorrow. I wonder what they will do? If she is like my dear departed MIL, she will try to get away with it. Hope she recovers quickly. Finally, I have been playing telephone tag with my GI doctor's office, and they finally caught me just now, and gave me a date for my roto rooter procedure - December 1. Something to look forward to when we get back...
  10. We are still waiting for our payment, too, from our September 2022 Alaska cruise. It's not a lot, the ship made arrangements for us to rent a car and drive home to isolate, so car rental and ferry. Our PCC did manage to get our FCC expedited some months later, but we've heard nothing more.
  11. DS's 58th birthday tomorrow! I can't believe it ... We were going to celebrate today, but have put them off until we get back. We'll meet outside tomorrow to hand over gifts and the odds and ends we bought for them in Bellingham. And maybe have an Oskar fix. Terri, I am so sorry you have had to cancel your cruise. We live on tenterhooks here, too, wondering what will happen next. We are hopeful our trip will go as planned, but keep our fingers crossed. @kochleffel,I think you need another AirTag to keep track of all that stuff.. Talking about AirTags, I was sync-ing a new one yesterday, as Jacqui @kazu had no luck in her search for my one travelling on Rotterdam, and it insisted on calling itself "Ivan's" ..whatever. Do you think it has a connection to Jacqui's puppy dog? This new one I have attached to a larger item, so it can't wander.
  12. Good morning, Dailyites, and thanks for the news! Welcome home, Jacqui, @0106 and @St Pete Cruiser, and Vanessa, I hope your leg does improve with time. When I hear Walla Walla, I think onions, I won't try that wine! We went to Stockholm a long time ago on Westerdam, 9 of the family, only 3 left, the two of us and our younger DD. One of my favourites at Olive Garden was always the chicken marsala. But I have some leftover beef stew for tonight, and DD made asparagus soup for our lunch today. What I might do is put a pastry crust on the stew . Have to think about that. If it stays nice, I must get out and do a bit of garden cleanup before we leave, a week from today! We are both still battling this cold, I am about a week ahead of Pat, so I'm feeling better, but still coughing up a storm. DD is very annoyed with us and thinks we have the plague! Pat is sleeping a lot.
  13. I finally found a school when we were leaving Virginia that would take about 20 years of National Geographic magazines, but only on the condition that the children were allowed to cut them up.
  14. I have a feeling we will just have to sail on Rotterdam again, and wander around asking it to beep. That’s what I had to do for Pat’s missing suitcase in Copenhagen. As I got closer it told me the distance! but thanks so much for trying, Jacqui.
  15. Good morning, Dailyites! Thanks for all the news. We have only been to Warnemunde, and I, too, wondered if there was a port of Rostock in Delaware. One of my cousins who was born in New Delhi got into trouble at the US border once because his passport said New Delhi, IN, and the Customs officer said there was no New Delhi in Indiana! I am feeling much better today, and have an appointment to get my hair cut this morning. I seem to have lost a day, because I keep thinking it's Thursday. Pat is on the phone with the doctor this morning for a BP check. It has gone back pretty much to normal, but he keeps losing weight. He thinks that is good, so he can eat whatever he wants on the cruise. Unfortunately, whatever weight he loses, I seem to find! Bon voyage to @sailingdutchy and the others on Oosterdam! We should have been there to join them, but will join the ship in Barcelona. Actually I prefer Barcelona to Athens, so I am content. Just hope our flights go smoothly, and Pat manages alright. This will be a test drive for a month-long cruise in the Spring. I know I am going to miss all the extra amenities that are on the Pinnacle ships, Dutch Cafe, Sel de Mer, even Tamarind!
  16. Depends ion when you are travelling. Next year, things will change..
  17. Good morning, Dailyites, and thanks for the news! Happy Birthdays, and Get Well Soon cards for those ailing. The senior centre I go to is part of our library, and I visit regularly, although I have not borrowed a book for a few years. @JazzyV, Vanessa, we are not sailing until November 1, on the Spanish Farewell, as we cancelled the earlier leg of the cruise, boo hoo. It will be a test of how Pat can manage, and we are already having some difficulties finding the supplies he's going to need for flights and/or long tours. He's a worry! And we'll need a suitcase for all his antibiotics, etc.... We got our flu shots yesterday at Costco and I inquired about RSV, I was told Canada is not paying for them yet, so it's all private pay. I'm not going to worry about it until we get back. Did you know that Kleenex is no longer being made/sold in Canada? Disaster! Fortunately, I bought 3 cases when we were in Bellingham and I am enjoying a lovely box of the ones with lotion and aloe while I have a cold. So much nicer than the other brands, and my poor nose is thanking me. With all the changes to cruise itineraries going on, when I got three emails from HAL this morning, I figured we were going to have changes, but they were all about visas, and "missing information", I'll let Pat worry about that. I don't think we have ever needed visas for where we will be going and the ETIAS thing in Europe doesn't start until next year.
  18. Does that just happen on the Daily? I don't think I've seen it on other threads....
  19. Just to prove I'm not seeing things - we're back to post #26!
  20. Bon voyage, Martha and Tony! Are you going to leave your car at the airport?
