  1. Single liquor drink is like $8.95. Specialty drinks and martinis are around $13 (some are more). And all wine is $12+ a glass. Plus 18% gratuity.

IMO it's a no-brainer to buy the drink package. Drink 3 martinis and a few bottles of water a day, and its already paid for itself.

Thanks, I agree, last August I believe the 16oz beer was $8.25 (+18%) am I remembering this correctly

  2. I was under the impression that it wasn't allowed until I read a recent review on VOS and the OP stated they were allowed to bring water bottles on board at embarkation.

Paying $39 for bottled water is ridiculous, I really don't know how RCI can justify the exorbitant charge.

Has anyone else gotten away with bringing bottled water on board?

We picked up a case of water from Walgreen's that was still in the plastic wrap, I taped a cabin bag tag and checked it with the rest of luggage at the port. They delivered w/o issue. I figured it only cost $3 bucks, if they pull it no big deal

  3. It was working well on the Sapphire Princess last week, you could access the itinerary with a basic weather forecast, your stateroom account, order room service, on board deals, loads of Princess info and shore excursions.

Thank you, what about texting other guess in your party, is that still available

  4. @Luke Dawg - I'm going on the Allure in August. Do you happen to know what they had on tap? I know it could change, but wouldn't mind an idea of what I can get.

    Hey Starvenger,

I found a pic of the pool bar - I don't know if it the same for all bars

    Draft taps

    Heineken

    Stella Artois

    Amstel Light

    Hi Starvenger,

I do not recall. I heard about this promo after our cruise. I had the drink package so I was drinking Bud cans all week.

  6. Was it $75 each way?! Last time I took an uber/lyft from the port of Miami to FLL, it was around $35. Like I said above, though, this time I'm traveling to/from the port on my own so whether it's $35 for an Uber or $32pp for a transfer or $15pp for a shuttle, it's all coming from the same wallet.

To all - mostly I'm looking for info on whether I'm okay with an 11:56 am flight when Carnival tells me not to book a flight before noon. It's only a 4 minute difference, so logically it wouldn't matter. Right?

Hi, so far we made all of our late morning flights out of FLL, (from Port of Miami or Port Everglades) - if there is a 11am flight we jump on it as it gets us home by 5pm. There is the possibility we encounter traffic from MIA to FLL, accidents, or even arriving into port late that morning. All these things can happen but we have yet to experience them. I hope this helps.

  7. Hi,

We have done 13, and echo all the others experiences. We like Carnival's MDR entertainment and interaction with our cabin stewards. They have many options for music throughout the ship. I always felt Carnival gave the best value for your dollar. I have to say lately we are finding bigger OBC on other cruise lines. We just do not see the levels of comps (free specialty restaurant) or OBC we are finding on Royal. The rates use to be the driver but now all things considered Carnival is not the most economical. Our last sailing was on Allure of the Seas and found that ship to be our favorite. I still find myself looking at Carnival's shorter cruises 3-5 days. We will continue to book these since you can find really good deals off-season. Hope this helps.

  8. Just off the Freedom (AMAZING week/cruise) and on the last day we were in line at GS to settle our cash account. They had a very friendly crew member going through the line to help speed it up and get people out of line quicker. The people in front of us told her they wanted grats. removed, she made a quick call on her portable phone, gave whoever answered the stateroom # and said remove grats. for all passengers. That was it, no signing anything, asking if there was a problem, nothing.

Of course it's nice that you can have an issue handled with ease, but it just kind of stuck with me all weekend that people can remove them so easily. It also seemed to be a very common need in the line we were in, as multiple were up there just for that purpose. Here's to hoping they had other plans with cash or something?

Just include them in the cabin cost and stop this insanity. They keep going up, they will be $20 before we know it.

  9. Hope they do this on Rhapsody. Not worth it to me to get a drink package when I only drink beer. 5 bucks a draft is a little high if it is not craft beer, but more reasonable than the prices that have seen onboard in the past on Royal.

Me too, the $49 includes 18% tip and includes pints.

Does anyone know if they have Bud or Miller products on draft?

  10. I would like to book a balcony for my daughter's family on the same deck we're booked on (deck 11--Allure). She will be traveling with a 3yo and 1yo. She would like to sit on the balcony while they are sleeping and just crack the door so she can hear them. Would you recommend a Central Park or Boardwalk balcony. Is one quieter than the other? I know the Boardwalk maybe busier, but looks like the pools are more above Central Park and not sure if the noise travels down during the day? Would appreciate any opinions of both daytime and evening noise for both locations. Thanks!!

Hi, we had six CP cabins 12231, 233, 235, 237, 251, 253 - which are located mid aft. None of us mentioned any excessive noise. There is no deck 13 so you are two decks from the pool.

  11. going on a cruise in a couple months that goes out of fort Lauderdale. anyone that has gone out of fort lauderdale, what would be your recommendation for the earliest flight at the end of the cruise? i want to fly out as early as I can on that sunday but not sure what time that should be. thanks

Hi, for what it is worth, after vacationing in Ft. Lauderdale for a week, we were going through FLL airport TSA security on 2/17/18 at 7:30 am and a family ahead of us was just off of Harmony of the Seas. We were all through security by 7:45 am. The line was not too terribly long.

  12. Just off Allure, party of 12, we did MTD and booked 6:30 each night. When you go to the dinning room there are two lines one for guests with reservations and one for guests w/o. The line for no reservations was long. It was very popular so I recommend pre-reserve on Cruise Planner. You can always change at the last minute you may have to wait a little but not as long as the ones w/o.
