Something I never understand.....why have only 1 comfy chair in a hotel room or ship cabin when there it's a double? I always get the short straw!!!!

Hi, we have booked an outside cabin 7006 on the quest, there are only 2 of these cabins on this deck and they are forward, has anybody had one of these.
They are ocean view cabins but have the size of the balcony actually in the cabin so they are much larger.
We booked one earlier this year but got the chance to upgrade cheaply so we did but to be honest we wished we had stayed in 7007... The other one on that deck.
A friend had that cabin last year and loved it.
Sleep easy!!

Ok, after a great deal of thought,
I would like the outside area of Windows Cafe available for all in the evening.
Much more important to me personally is the drawer and wardrobe space in the cabins. I would hate Az to go down the Celebrity road and have next to no drawer space....what use is 5 drawers???? Regardless of hanging space. I am sure I am not the only female regular customer of Az to feel this way even though the Outside area of Windows Cafe (although wonderful and important) seems to have taken over this thread.
Whatever happens I am sure the cruise experience will still be Amazing. We have 2 cruises booked , Decemebr 2015 before the upgrades and September 2016 after the upgrades so will be able to re access our loyalty at that point.

Procter, those are good points. They've moved the bar area and stools out further. Those and the seats on the end of the line to the left of the picture are very exposed if it's wet. The more I look at the proposed seats and bench the more I dislike it:( Stylistically it looks great. Practically, no.
Phil
Do not want to be negative but the bar area looks HUGE for the number of tables in this new venue. I know it will be used during the daytime but surely there will not be any more tables then either.
Sad that the nicest place on the ship to just sit and enjoy is being changed but not improved.

I've just been on Azamara website to check and prices are still as they were as far as I can see.

For what it's worth, a couple on an Azamara cruise we did last year renewed their vows onboard...I got the impression Az hadn't done it before hence the "package" has been offered.
They had an amazing time...they were Belgian and had cruised with Az many times so they had various members of crew who they knew well involved in the ceremony. Barman Dale escorted the lady to the ceremony. They showed us photos and it all looked really nice.
Hope this helps a bit.

The easy way to overcome the up sell is to ask for a Gordons (or Beefeater if you have no taste buds) by name.
The biggest issue with the gin is the awful Royal Club Tonic they serve.
We were on the same cruise and when we stopped in Gibraltar and stocked up with 36 tins of Schweppes from Morrison's supermarket, and a couple of the bar staff kept them on reserve for us.
Ironically one we arrived in Rio and new supplies came onboard, Schweppes was freely available.
I like Gordon's ...well Bombay, but not at upsell!! Never, ever in 6 cruises have I Seen Schweppes, always that AWFUL Royal Club Tonic.
If Larry is reading these please note...we DO have tastebuds.
They do do low Cal tonic but it is AWFUL too....never stopped me drinking though.....LOL.
We also visited Morrisons supermarket in Gibraltar ...for the same reason as you!!
Still love Azamara though!

From our experiences on Azamara they only put the stickers on the back of the passports and they peel off without any problems at all so sorry for your problems.

Can someone please advise on the Singapore sail away at 10 pm. We don't cruise until April 2016 but I am gleaning so much information whilst counting down the months.
We are flying from the UK departing 1.30 pm our time and arriving 13 or so hours later in Singapore which is about 9.30 am Singapore time and 2.30 am UK time (I hope that at some time during the flight they will dim the lights so that we can get a few hours sleep). I am not sure how long it will take to get through customs but we have arrangements for a transfer to take us to the cruise terminal. We have only cruised twice before and that was from Miami in the daylight hours but I am conscious of the time difference and sleep deprivation etc and was wondering whether if we happened to sleep through the sailaway will we have missed something splendid? Hubby says that any sailaway should not be missed but can anyone advise what we would expect. Being a night sailaway can you see Singapore all lit up?
Stay up...you will regret it if you don't! You will have plenty time to sleep later. Enjoy the moment and the cruise.

If you are flying into Singapore you can buy Duty Free goods on arrival...at least we have in the past.

As we sit docked here in Buenos Aires on the last night of this 9-night cruise, I just wanted to give a quick report on our first Azamara experience. Most of my cruises have been with Crystal and Celebrity - my favorite ships being Celebrity's Solstice Class. My husband and I are in our mid-30s and cruise twice a year. We almost cancelled this cruise a couple times, due to concerns about fellow travelers, old ships, dated decor, etc. But as this cruise comes to an end, we are so happy we decided to try AZ.
As soon as we boarded the Journey in Rio all of our concerns about an old ship were alleviated when we saw how well the "classic" decor really works. It's a lovely ship - very cozy and well- maintained. Yes, the style isn't my personal taste. But it works here. We were in a Club Continent Suite (8063) and were Wow'd by the amount of space. It was much bigger than we expected. Huge balcony and bathroom as well. We won't be able to sail in any lesser room type on these ships from now on. Overall the ship looks great, but some renovations do need to be done - especially in the hallways and soft goods in the rooms. Hopefully this will take place sooner rather than later.
We found the service to be great, overall. The ladies working guest relations were cranky and unfriendly. But everyone else was lovely. Everyone who works onboard says "Good Morning" or some acknowledgement in passing. The drink servers are constantly checking to make sure you don't need a drink - a great change from Celebrity where it is next-to-impossible to get a drink. I have sat through several meals on Celebrity with no drink at all. The staff is friendly and attentive on AZ. The daily offering of goodies from our butler was lovely as well.
Food was uniformly excellent in all venues, although the lunch options in Windows Cafe needs some work. We loved the main dining room, always able to get a table for the three of us and great food. Prime C and Aqualina were also fantastic - better than any venue on Celebrity.
The Azamazing Evening in Rio was a "Samba Spectacular". It certainly wasn't "amazing", but we enjoyed it and appreciated doing something that we wouldn't have done otherwise. We think that it would have been nicer to offer local appetizers, since we don't drink. The dinner offered before the event was too early for us and the small sandwiches offered onboard afterwards were kind of gross.
I have heard some people on here complain about AZ's increasing prices. I don't know what the fares used to be, but we felt that the current fares are very fair for the high level of service we received. We paid about 2k more than we usually do on Celebrity and about 1k less than Crystal. Very reasonable.
Yes, we missed the Solarium and large casino on Celebrity (and I don't see us doing an AZ cruise longer than 10 days because of this), but we truly loved this ship and the AZ product. Celebrity and AZ will be our first choices for cruises in the future. Very happy first-timers here :)
Michael
Michael, I am so happy you enjoyed your cruise. We were on the cruise too and really enjoyed it (our 5th with AZ).
I was sorry not to have the chance to meet you...and put a face to the CC name....but you didn't come to the CC Meet & Mingle on the first day.....did you not get an invitation in your cabin or did you just not want to come...anyway, sorry not to have met you.
You forgot to mention in your report....and I do really hope you attended it....the wonderful Christmas Show put on by the Amazing Eric De Gray.....it was fabulous and a fitting finale to a wonderful pre- Christams cruise.

Hi Joyce. I have to say I did nothing for Sri Lanka and there were no onerous immigration procedures like there were for India. Just got off and enjoyed. A lovely island, but I'm afraid the people there will try to take advantage, so hold firm on prices. Our 1 hour tuk tuk ride priced at $5 became $100 when we did four hours. No mention by the driver. We said $20 and that was it and he missed tips because of trying it on. He'd also had the benefit of kick backs from the places he took us too. It was a really good day though.
Phil
Phil, Many thanks for all that useful info....it clarifies things a bit. I'm sure it is going to be wonderful. We have actually booked a full day private trip to Kandy with. Guide highly rated on TA so hope to avoid the rip offs!!
So pleased you had a great time. We have sailed both Quest and Journey and loved them both. Off on Journey on Saturday...Rio to BA..then Quest in March so will see if there have been any changes.
Thanks again.
Merry Christmas and happy dieting!!

Hi Phil, sorry I got it wrong!! It's the ETA for Sri Lanka I was wondering about. As we will only be there for 1 day I know we can get the free transit one. I just wondered if the ship got them for everyone or you got your own online before you left home.
Indian Visas are fun aren't they??!!
What a shame for those folks....I bet they were gutted. I must admit our TA told us last year that we would need to get our own Visas for India . Azamara got the others for everyone which was good.
Hope you enjoy the short time you have left.

Phil, so glad you had a great cruise. Really enjoyed your posts and pics.
Can I ask a Q please as you are in Colombo??
We are going to be there next March on Quest ( only for 1 day) and am wondering if the ship did the visas for you onboard or did you have to get your own beforehand.
We did Golden Triangle Tour and Mumbai to Athens last April on Journey and it had to be 1 of the best holidays ever!
Thanks, joyce

So sorry to hear Dale is leaving....he is a wonderful barman in every way.
He will be missed.
Just don't tell us Victor is leaving too.

Notice also that as of 1st January,2015, you will be able to request an upgrade at a cost, from Ocean View to Verandah etc.
Well, I am curious to know, how will this offer works, regardless as to whether the forms are available or not.
Surely, given the number of Azamara LVC members on most cruises it causes Qs of how many cabins are available for upgrade???
Is it question of first come first seved??
I would really need clarification.
Thanks.
