  1. I think there is a full ship full of folks waiting for news of these Land Tours..9th Sept sailing!!!!

Some update would be very welcome.....we have had this booked since Oct 2014 so they have known for long enough that they needed to arrange something.

    Come on Azamara.

  2. We stayed in 7091 on our cruise In December. I did put it on uktog's cabin thread...it's the last entry!!

Anyway, it was a great cabin, very quiet, normal balcony. No noise problems at all. The even numbers are on the side of the laundry but I don't think they will have noise problems either.

We would be more than happy to have 7091 again. It was also very handy for the lifts(sorry, elevators).

We did have a couple of days of rough seas but that was no worse than anywhere else on the ship that we have been in.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Thank You for the replies

We have booked an owners suite ,and in light of the discussion on another thread in relation speciality restaurant bookings we thought it might be prudent to have some days and times to book our preferences on embarkation.

This is our first real trip to ASIA other than airports transits so we will see how it goes.

Anthony, we did this cruise 2 years ago on Journey. It was wonderful. I'm sure you will have an amazing time.

I don't know where your Azamazing evening is but ours was in Ho Chi Minh...and was amazing.

    Enjoy.

  4. Thanks for that information jollyjoyce. Can you please let us know when the first show is?? Would have to be fairly early to allow passengers to be able to eat before the restaurants close. Am used to dining taking 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours on cruises so not sure how that ties into the showtimes??

    Thanks,

TBH Dave, I'm not sure what time the early show is but I remember on a very odd accession we have gone to the 1st show and then eaten at about 8.30. Restaurants close 9pm...that's last orders so loads of time if you wanted to do it that way round, they don't throw you out of the restaurant

I'm sure someone will tell you exactly what time the early show is though.

Show usually lasts about 45 minutes.

    Joyce

  5. Don't believe it is second, it is only show. Azamara doesn't do 2 shows a nite like mainstream cruise lines.

Sorry Dave but apart from 1st and last nights they do have 2 shows per night.....certainly on Azmara cruises we have been on......just got off Quest on 22 December. We always go to the later show as we eat about 7.30..8.00 ish.

  6. HI everyone,

Its 6 weeks away until we sail and I've completed the check in online process and requested my luggage tags.

Can someone advise which Option I should select as I've printed out the Xpress Pass but need to select option A or B regarding the currency conversion.

Option A - I choose to pay my onboard charges in the currency of my card. I choose to use the Azamara currency conversion program.

    OR

Option B - I choose to have my credit card issuer convert my onboard charges to the currency of my card in lieu of participating in the Azamara currency programme.

What is the general consensus on the options?

    Definitely B

  7. We took some onboard in December.....it was packed in our suitcases though. We had no problems and didn't see any signs either.

Azamara are ok about taking drink onboard....I suppose you just need to be sensible with the amount!

Good luck...I would do it again.

  8. I probably should post this in the Asia Forum but thought I would ask here first since this is my cruise forum.

I want to bring on board a couple of bottles of good champagne with me - the question is do I buy it at duty free Heathrow Airport? We change planes in Singapore and it may be better to buy it there but if our plane is delayed in getting there then we will be legging it to the next terminal to catch it for Bali.

Any helps you can give me as I really love a nice glass of bubbly, speaking of which can you buy a single glass of bubbly on board?

I think that if you buy it in Heathrow you will not be able to take it to through Singapore when you change planes.

Buy it in Singapore...or look see if you can buy on arrival in Bali.

No limit to what you can take onboard....Azamara treat us like adults!!... But beware limits to take into Indonesia...they scan luggage!!!

Azamara used to give everyone a bottle of bubbly...cheap rubbish.....in cabin on embarkation but as part of their greed campaign stopped it!!

I too like a few bubbles so enjoy!

    Joyce

  9. The diy worked out just fine. I am sure this will trigger another debate, but I do not see why I should pay for luggage label holders (which I will never need again) unless Azamara are going to refund the cost (lol). In all my years of cruising this is the only cruise line that has a problem supplying labels.

I totally agree with you Jill.

    Joyce

  10. We received 2 copies...from Switzerland!!

Much more frustrated to not have received luggage labels ordered from Az site on 28th October.

Someone, somewhere needs to take these problems in hand.

We are all loyal customers and should be treated accordingly.

It's not rocket science for goodness sake!

    Joyce

  11. As a regular Azamara cruiser I find little to complain about whilst on board ship

but find the attitude of on shore management to be condescending. They treat regular customers with disdain. Any criticism of any aspect of management policy is casually brushed aside and any defence they offer is cloaked in platitudes and clichés.

We all known that after the Trojans had dragged the wooden horse left by the departing Greeks into their city, with dire consequences, the phrase “beware Greeks bearing gifts” was coined.

I would urge similar caution on anyone tempted to accept gifts from cruise companies; you could find yourself out of pocket by accepting their “gifts”.

Azamara Club Cruises revised the rewards offered to Le Club Voyager members at the beginning of 2015 and the “big one” was Complimentary Nights.

If you had spent tens of thousands of Pounds Stirling, on previous cruises, to earn Discoverer status, in their Le Club Voyager scheme, you were entitled to 4 such nights but once you had made your way through the, short novella length, Terms, you discovered that they were not combinable with any other offers.

Now that is a problem because it’s very difficult, if not impossible, to find a cruise not on offer. For example -

    1. Second passenger travels half price (ran until June 30)

    2. Free flights

    3. Free upgrade to balcony. (runs from July1 to August 31)

    4. 25% Off select voyages 2016/17

    5. Up to 25% off, currently running.

    Etc, etc.

So to qualify for the free nights you have to forfeit the benefits of any current offer, which is available to everyone else, before applying your expensively earned one.

So in the case of the “2ND passenger travels half price” offer you would have to pay full price for your partner before applying your “reward”.

An agent quoted me £2467 for a balcony on an 11 nights, May 24, 2016

    Venice to Istanbul, cruise only.

Azamara quoted me £2353 for the same cruise, after deducting the 4 nights discount. A saving, certainly, but hardly equivalent to 4 nights.

    But it could get worse.

From time to time Azamara enter into specific agreements on select

voyages with trade partners who can help drive sales by putting together

their own packages. These packages are far cheaper than the same cruises offered by Azamara.

However you cannot use your complimentary nights discount nor your Open Passage discount against these trade partner packages.

Thus by buying a cruise direct from Azamara and applying both your complimentary nights and your Open Passage discount, on which you may have made a £75pp deposit many months earlier, the cruise could cost you appreciably more than buying a package from an agent.

For example on August 11, 2015, Azamara were quoting, on their website, £2869 for 9 nights, November 1 to November10, Monte Carlo to Barcelona, balcony- Cruise only.

If I were to deduct the 4 complimentary nights and the £250, per stateroom, Open Passage discount from this price I would arrive at a net price of about £1470pp- Cruise only.

Agents were quoting £1550 - £1600 for the same cruise including 1 or 2 nights in a Nice hotel, return flights and private transfers.

Thus making a mockery of their much lauded rewards for loyal, regular customers, who are “much valued”, according to their Le club Voyager ambassador.

They then add insult to injury by claiming that “it is the best loyalty program in the cruise industry; because we listened to you, our most loyal members”. Best for whom?

A classic case of giving with one hand and snatching away with the other.

    Johnd, Cheshire

    John,

I totally agree with you. We are in the same position, we got to Discoverer level back in April.

We have priced a few cruises to take advantage of the "4 free night" but like you have found it to be nonsense.

We have 2 future cruises already booked. The last one is Sept 2016 . The other problem is that you have to use the free nights offer within 12 months of reaching the new level.

To be honest I don't want to book cruises further ahead than late 2016 so will not be booking any more cruises now until after the 12 months is up.

They always say "there's no such thing as a free lunch" and this seems to be one of those occasions!!

It won't stop us enjoying the next 2 cruises though!

  12. The above should of been posted yesterday on the 14th before people freaked out. Seeing your cruises dissapear not fun at all. and others were looking at cruises to book. Do not frighten your guests.

    I agree Robin.

  13. This is the reply Imjst received from Mr Twynam..

Don't worry we are doing some I.T tweaks behind the scenes as we need to build into our systems the new configurations of the ships, i.e. spa suites etc.

It will all be sorted within 24 hours.

  14. Apologies it took so long!

It might be easier if people posted queries about specific cabins on new threads so its easy to find all the feedback on rooms quickly.

Interestingly like food cabins are becoming subjective so love a particular cabin that others hate!!!

Thank you Ann for your hard work on this. It is an invaluable tool for folks wanting info re cabins.

We are all different and it is subjective but we do all get the different views and respect them.

    Joyce

  15. Anyone with info on 8007 on the Journey?

Jolly Joyce, have noted your comments on 8001, do you think the same problems could be encountered in 8007?

    Thanks!

    Brenda

Brenda, I honestly can't say....but it was only in the mornings when folks were jogging and using the gym at silly o' clock!!! I think it is caused because there is no one around the ship at that time of day to absorb the noise so it kind of echoes around the ship.

The rest of the time was fine and the cabin itself was great.

I see you were on the same cruise as U.S...Mumbai to Athens 2014.

You will enjoy this cruise too regardless of the cabin!

  16. We got off Equinox on Monday and here are my observations about Elite perks on Celebrity.

    1. 2 hours Drinks 5pm til 7pm every night except 2 ( embarkation day + 1 other) in Sky Lounge. No vouchers. Nice group every evening, numbers depended on shore excursions and ports. Unexciting nibbles came around sporadically!

    2. 90 minutes free internet each was great.

    3. Priority tender service was good when we needed to be off for early start tours.

    4. Free laundry......we used this and both times sent it back. I know it is wash and fold only but it was folded so badly it was unwearable......we have had laundry done on Azamara and it comes back fit for purpose.

    5. Elegant afternoon tea was held in Blu and was lovely.

    6. Senior officer's cocktail party was as the 2 hours every night except for loud music!

    7. The free Gelato was gorgeous!

We didn't go to the breakfast but friends said it was nice and good coffee. There were a few other things we didn't use either...Persian Gardens was available for 1 port day but we were always off the ship.

I think I have covered all we utilised and hope it helps.

  17. Dec 10th Singapore to Bali is tendered for Lombok and Komodo islands , do Azamara provide free transfers to the islands and if so is it easy to arrange your own local tours shoreside?

I would suggest that you go to the rollcall for the cruise, read the posts and look at tours that have already been organised which you may be able to join.

  18. I would phone Visa Central UK and ask them for info......you might just be lucky and the ship might be able to get them......this is a new development so give them a bell and say you will be on Az.

The only good thing I can say is that whatever you end up having to do to get the Visa....you will LOVE India.

We did 1 cruise in 2014 that included India and then another in March 2015... Both Azamara.

We did ithe Visa the long way but I do know that the long way then is now the very long way...if the new E-Visa does not apply!

  19. I wonder if one clicks on the "world" icon in the upper right-hand corner of the web page, selects US, and then uses DaveFr's work around, if the UK folks can see the information?

I tried it but that doesn't work either. It comes up with the same message that it is only available for US clients.

    Joyce

  20. Forgive me, I do NOT want to be negative as I am a BIG Az fan......I am aware that Larry P is onboard.....and I expect his lovely wife too.

First, sorry for the UK weather!!

Second, I know you will never be in a CC or Balcony cabin...unlike the rest of us!!

    But, please imagine yourselves there.

Would you be happy with the drawer space, the hanging space on the wardrobes, the bathrooms (I realise that a lot of folks booking CC are doing so because of the bathtub).... It's not an issue for me personally but hanging and drawer space sure is!!

I will never book a CC cabin...but I will hopefully be booking balcony cabins for a few years yet!!

I see on Twitter that you gave a talk Larry to TAs selling to "affluent" folks??????

I know Az look at these posts so perhaps you will take these comments in the spirit in which they are meant.
