  1. We tip extra with cash. If we get a drink, we will add an extra dollar on the paper, but we also always give our favourite bartenders cash towards the end of the cruise. Same with waiters (if you tip extra on the paper at specialty restaurants it gets split up among the whole team, but cash goes directly to the person we wish to recongize - this is not the case with bartenders btw, they keep the tip on the paper or themselves). We also always leave our room steward an extra cash tip as well.

I never knew that the bartenders get to keep the tip on the paper. I just assumed they split tips with other bartenders. This is good to know.

  2. My husband and I had the same experience at the port. They literally shove the monkey into your arms. I immediately gave the monkey back and asked him where the baby monkey's mother was. He said something rude and walked away. The monkey was very cute and I felt bad for it. A guy with a monkey was also at the beach but he wasnt pushy at all.

  3. I was just browsing and saw your question about laundry. I personally do the hand wash thing, but I did a quick search on Yelp and there is one in OSJ.

Maybe find that place with the famous Pina coladas while you wait [emoji3]

The Barrachina is home of the pina colada. Delicious!!!!!

  4. We try to mix it up with our vacations, but we love cruising the best. Our last land trip was to St maarten last May. We had a wonderful time but every day we saw the cruise ships arriving and decided we really missed cruising. So we have booked another cruise. I think mixing up your vacations with land and sea is the way to go. No matter what you do, have fun.

  5. I was on it in September and it was looking tired on top deck

If Allure has over 6000 people cruising on her every week, it wouldnt take long for her to look tired. It makes me sick when I see some of the cruisers disrespecting the ship. Leaving trash everywhere. Food and trash in the elevators.

  6. Is there a certain area of the city that has the most shopping? I am not looking for a Mall. I prefer small boutiques with native goods and gift shops. I was wondering if the trolley stops at an area like that. Speaking of the free trolley, has anyone ever hopped on and stayed on for a tour of the city?

  7. We take magnets - useful to put invitations, etc. up on the wall. We also take a bit of duct tape - have never had to use it, but it will fix almost anything that breaks.

    Have a wonderful cruise.

We always bring duck tape and luckily never used it, but it can be used for many things. Also the magnets are great because the walls are metal.

  8. It is totally possible to get two loungers under a Palm tree and just laze the day away. We float in the, water, drink an occasional Labadoozie, wander to the BBQ when we get around to it and avoid the shops. We choose itineraries to include Labadee because it is so relaxing. Each time we say "we should do the Dragon coaster or go parasailing", then we look at each other and say nope, not this time.

You just described the perfect day on Labadee for us. So glad to hear it. We save the excursions for the other islands.

  9. We havent been on a cruise that included Labadee in quite sometime. What happen to the quiet, relaxing island where you can do nothing but float on a mat or possibly do a waverunner for excitement. I was just reading the excursions and it sounds like its an amusement park now and the prices are crazy. RCCL knows that there are no other options for excursions like you would have on other islands. We partially booked this cruise because Labadee was on it. Please reassure me that Labadee will not be a disappointment.

  10. Having been on twenty-six cruises, I have never been able to understand why some folks concern themselves with what others choose to wear. What others wear has no impact on the enjoyment of my cruise whatsoever. I am too busy relaxing, and enjoying my meal and me darling wife's company. And for those who concern themselves with such things, I have never worn a hat or wife beater shirt to the MDR nor have I worn shorts or t-shirts to dinner. On the so called formal nights, I choose to wear a shirt with tie, dark slacks, a jacket and shined shoes, but it is my choice.

I totally agree with you. I use to bring long dresses for me and suits for hubby. Not anymore. I dont get the people who post how the folks sitting next to them at dinner were not dressed properly and it ruined their dinner. We have met all kinds of people on board a cruise and we are all there for the same reasons. To relax and enjoy ourselves. Hats off to the people who still dress to the nines for dinner. You all look wonderful. Its just not our thing anymore.
