  1. They couldn't find the transfer listed under their "new" room number and had to look at the old number to see the transfer. That's why I think in this case it was due to the upgrade that the transfer was missed. As for the other things, you are correct they could happen with any trip and no upgrade but the point of my post was that with an upgrade you may see these and have your edocs printed and keeping a note of your old room number helps you and the staff navigate if any of these come up. I always feel having the more info the better.
  2. We booked a Balcony and bid on a Club Balcony Suite. Not a huge jump but was worth a try
  3. we won an upgrade for our grown kids (1st time cruise for them) and on the whole were pleased and excited for it to happen. There were a few hiccups though and I wanted to share those as a "buyer beware" of what could happen. For context we were on the JOY sailing to Bermuda 7/16-7/23. Luggage - we got notice of the change in time to reprint the luggage tags so the bags went to the correct room right away and we didn't have to go around searching for them Room set up - originally we had asked for separate beds and it wasn't set up that way at embarkation. We're accustomed to that so asking was something we were expecting to have to do so not an issue Excursion tickets - this is where the hiccups start. Of the 2 excursions we booked, they received 1 set and a set for another cruiser. We had to go the the shore excursion desk to turn on the one set and have the correct tickets re-printed. Very important to check your tickets as soon as you see them to make sure they are yours Disembarkation - we set up an airport transfer through NCL and when the tags etc were being passed out, they did not get anything. Luckily I'm pretty analog when it come to some things and I had them print off their full edocs which included the itinerary and showed a transfer to airport. All we needed to do was go to Guest Services and they looked it up, got the tags and items we'd need for the transfer. Luckily we checked early because trying to sort that out the day of disembarkation would have been a nightmare. They also did ask us the old cabin number which we didn't remember but wish I had handy. Takeaways - 1) if you get an upgrade, print your new edocs and keep them with you as proof just in case. 2) take note of your old cabin number in case there are issues (that's where your luggage could have ended up, tickets and transfers too) 3) check all your excursion info to be sure it is yours Happy cruising all!
  4. we're set to sail in 19 days & super excited! it's mine, my DH & son's 2nd time in Bermuda but 1st time and 1st cruise for my adult step kids. How were the seas on the trip to/from the island? I worry with the rain and storm activity that the seas will be choppy and we might need some Dramamine especailly for our new cruisers.
  5. Cruising out of NY in July but flying in the day before embarkation. I ended up booking a hotel in Manhattan but just found out that NCL Air is flying us in to Newark. Not a big deal but I need to figure out transportation from Newark to the hotel. My question is if anyone knows which is the more economical choice- Taxi or car service. There will be 5 of us (4 adults and 1 kid). Thanks all!
  6. Getting 2 rooms. Have been saving alot of points to cover the hotel LOL
  7. We have a VERY early flight and get in a little after 9am on a Sat so little sleep and a longish plane ride, thinking that in the end we'd need the easiest choice. Public transport might be more hassle than we want. Uber is a possibility...

  9. I wonder if that means more non-Broadway review performances to make up for the loss.
  10. Trying o give them worst case scenario....appreciate the info
  11. thanks. we're travelling as a family and our grown son and daughter will be in another cabin and I want them to know if they decide to upgrade, they'd probably have to share a bed 😃
  12. Hi, Thinking about doing an upgrade to a penthouse suite. Am I correct in thinking that those classes don't allow the bed to be split into 2 like the Club Balcony and below classes do? Thanks
  13. I'm in the same boat (no pun intended). Gong to call the inquiry line next week and see if there is any update before reaching out any further. Worst comes to worst, I believe that a birth certificate and a driver's license would be sufficient for getting off in Bermuda, right?
  14. You also can book them online now and avoid the mad rush on embarkation day
  15. I just did a google search for passport status and it took me to the Dept of State section on their website
  16. I've been waiting 5 months...they did cash my check immediately though! To top if off, last week I got a letter form them that they needed me to complete the renewal form again. They said something was missing, I know there wasn't which leads me to believe someone there lost it. I sail in mid-July. Will give it another week before I call to inquire. Passports are getting to be a pain in the a$$. My son's passport expires in Feb 2024. Might start the renewal process long before then
  17. I'm sailing the Joy in July and have been researching this too. I hear that if you don't want to deal with crowns, go to Taste or Savor. anything else with be crowded. It used to be that The Local was the unknow gem of embarkation but then everyone heard that and now, not so much.
  18. How is your cabin? Thinking of cruising on this ship and am curious about how cabins are. Thanks
  19. My son, now 8, is a cruise pro and cruised as a toddler. I think one of the best things we brought along was a lightweight umbrella stroller to use on ship. If you're child is a good sleeper and doesn't need PERFECT silence to sleep, let them nap on deck (under shade if you can get it). You get the benefit of being out and a breeze and they get the sleep them need. You might even be able to relax in the Observation Lounge too and not feel like you're "stuck" in your cabin with nap time. We also would take 1 or 2 extra cartons of milk from the buffet and kept in in the cabin mini fridge for later night/ in between feedings. Ask the room steward to empty the fridge so there's room. You can also do the same with fruit or other goodies from the buffet.
  20. We cruise in July. Hopefully this will be specified a little more as the months go by. This is good though. The ban was going to be a serious damper to the cruise for my stepson as he needs a fan to sleep
  21. We sailed the BA last June and check in was "locked" unit 21 days out. I'm like you, I like to get as much done as early as possible so if I could start check in earlier I would but alas, that is not to be. 🙂 On the flip side, it's probably better to not have such personal info sitting on their database for weeks at a time.
  22. This is probably a side topic but can someone explain to me what the BTS tours are all about? where in the ship is the tour? My husband is fascinated with the inner workings of cruise ships so I want to get an idea what it's like to see if it would be worth doing.
  23. Whew. I has been concerned since they stopped listing the prices on the website. I figured the cost skyrocketed. That's away more do-able
  24. Dang, this just confirms that the spa prices are out of control on the ship! A 50 min massage for $350! I'll pass
