Hope the bulb doesn't burn out! We'll be in 9232 on May 20th!

You'll love 9232 - wonderful cabin. That wrap-around is fantastic... not as deep as one would like, but being able to move from the aft to the starboard side is pretty neat.

Have fun!

Hi JimS,

We are the other side in 9732 - thought for a moment: Hey, they're in our cabin!

Please say hi when aboard.

Its our first time on Norwegian, or any big ship. Before we have been 190 pax, 110 pax, 10 pax and about 1500-odd on the MV Liemba on Lake Tanganyika (the ship that was, actually, the German raider in The African Queen - and hasn't been cleaned since!)

Flygod - We'll try to leave 9732 in great shape after we leave it on May 20th!

  • 1 year later...

Good morning from Singapore, sailing on NCL Star 11 days from Singapore to Honk Kong; we have not been able to leave port due to an AZIPOD poblem. Yesterday the captain announced, some specialist was being brought over to fix the issue and tentatively we are going to be leaving today around 3pm. Most of our ports got cancelled, Thailand is out of the picture although I've paid and independent tour specialist for the 2 nights layover. We are getting a 100% money back plus 50% off on a future cruise. To my surprise this AZIPOD problem is an old issue that should have been fixed long time ago. Last night we were allowed but in to port. NCL has handle this situation right from the begging but a traveler like me that does this kind of trips once a year a feel cheated and upset.

From what I have gleaned on the other threads about the Star's current azipod problem, this is an electrical problem. The previous problems the Star has had were a thrust bearing failure in 2004 and a seal failure last year. This is not some "longterm" problem that "hasn't been fixed". This is like your car needing new brakes one year, and then having an oil leak the next, and finally overheating due to a broken fan belt. They all affect your car's ability to move, but each one is a separate problem, and having one happen and looking into the causes of that failure would not lead you to suspect that the next one was going to happen.

Edit to add that the bearing problem that happened in 2015, was repaired during a very costly emergency drydock.
