BEWARE: Noise Alert for Cabins on Deck 6

I just returned from the Med cruise on The Liberty and wanted to post a "noise alert" announcement for anyone whose cabin is located mid-ship on the 6th floor.

I was in cabin 6365 which was located just above the area that was directly in the passageway right outside the casino on the 5th deck. Was I surpirsed my first night on the ship to discover that I paid all this money to, what was like, sleeping in the middle of the disco. My room shook from the noice and the BOOM BOOM vibrations of the speaker system, and the loud clapping, stomping, and laughing of guests listeining to the singer. When I complained to the pursers office, I was told "let's wait until 1:00 a.m. and see what transpires. If it doesn't stop by then, we'll send someone around to tell them to lower the music" (quote/unquote). My neighbor across the hall was standing in the hallway in her robe and curlers yelling "what the hell is going on", with other 6th floor travelers opening their cabin doors with stunned expressions on their faces trying to figure out if the band was playing in the hallway outside their cabin door.

Folks...I'm not exagerating! If you need your sleep, have your room change NOW. You will be touing 8-10 hours a day and getting up at the crack of dawn to catch the bus for the next day's excursions. After a few days it can get exhausting, so a good night's sleep will play a key role in you enjoying your trip. Believe me, you won't regret it, because the purser's office didn't seem to give a damn if we couldn't sleep. They got their money, so to hell with us!

This is exactly what we experienced on the Conquest in room 6363. I will only book rooms that are sandwiched between other rooms from now on. Great rooms for people who are up all night but not us.

What time did the disco finally "settle down"? We are booked in 6335 on Glory. It is further to the front of he ship compared to where you were, but only by 7 cabins. I have heard this cabin is a good location, but now I am wondering.:confused:

I think they wind everything up at 2:00 a.m. I don't think it was earlier than that.

We were in 6312. Not above the disco. but we heard everything in the casino--all the slots sounded as if they were in our room! We didn't complain, though. Just stayed up late, spend time on the balcony, and went to the casino ourselves!

That shouldn't be too bad. We usually get the latest dinner seating, by our request, which means we don't settle down for the night until 1am or so. There are four of us in one cabin, 2 of which are teenagers, and we like the extra time it gives us to get ready for dinner and the more leisurely afternoon. Another poster has said 6335 is a great cabin and has booked it again. I'm hoping it will be OK. We have been under the pool and over the main lounge bandstand in the past (not Carnival) and now are very careful of how we chose our cabins. Did you get those cabins via a guarantee or did you choose?

Hmm. I was in 6167 on the Miracle and the only noise I heard was my neighbors balcony door slamming WHILE I was on the balcony.

The ship deck plan/cabin configuration is different for the Miracle than the Liberty/Conquest. The noise issues will be different.

Ok.... now I'm scared we have booked cabin #6485. Does anyone know about the noise for this one?

i also have two rooms on the 3/18/06 cruise on the liberty ..upper deck rooms- floor 6 , room numbers 6453 and 6449. Does anyone know about the noise level within these rooms. They are at the back of the ship over the victoria lounge.:p

My family had this problem on two ships, the Conquest (rm 1257) and the Glory (rm 1253). Both times I reported a banging sound that was coming from the deck below. Both times we were given 10% discounts on a future cruise.

We have been on four Carnival Cruises, our next cruise is on the Liberty and never had a problem with staff. :)

We just returned a few weeks ago from the Conquest and we were in room 2369 it was an oceanview room and every night or shall I say early morning around 5am I would awaken to a screaching noise and I neved could figure out what it was. This was my first cruise and it really freaked me out because it sounded like the boat was scraping up against something but I never complained about it,,, just wondering if anyone else has ever heard this noise? (my hubby says it was just me being over nervous on my first cruise , but he could sleep through anexplosion so he never heard the noise) :confused:

We had room 6260 on the Glory April 6 05. We were close to the elevators and didn't notice the noise as much as we had thought we would.

The Bars and nightclubs got pretty quiet after midnight last April so perhaps that helped.

Nascargirl - it depends on what goes on in the Victoria lounge, if there's live entertainment, you might as well go watch it because you won't be sleeping.

on carnival, our favorite cabin deck is 7....rooms above and below. Two flights of stairs to the promanade... two above to the lido....... hey... don't steal our future cabins now;)

We are in Room 6270 on the Liberty, any toughts on noise for that room? Falling to sleep is hard for me if I can hear a lot going on. If its going to be an issue I will change rooms asap. Thanks for any input you might have. We actually picked this room because I like the elavators on the opposite side. Means No rooms for people to slam doors right across from us. But if the noise from below is a problem. :eek:

That's what we do also. I'll never forget watching a very tired man on the Lido deck pleading with the food staff to not bang plates together, as the sound was echoing through his cabin below.

We have 6387 on the Liberty. Not only will we apparently have to deal with the noise from the Promenade, but found out that the laundry room is directly across from our cabin as well! At booking, I especially questioned noise possibilities and was assured that "you always hear noise much more from ABOVE" and this location should be quiet. As soon as I started seeing this issue on these boards, I called to try moving, but was told there is nothing else available in that category. Guess we're just going to make the best of it - sure WAS looking forward to our first Carnival cruise.

I am always careful about what is above the cabin, but I never thought noise would travel from below. We are on the Deck 6 on the Victory over the casino. Can you really here the slot machines? We are an inside cabin, so maybe we will hear less. Any thoughts? Guess we will bring ear plugs. We are not stay up all night kind of people and have never had a problem with noise in our cabin. Hope this is not going to be the first!

We were on Deck 6 on the Triumph, and we did hear noise from below. In the future, I book a room where I have rooms above and below us. I brought along ear plugs, and that solved the noise problem.

Casino's are my dh's favorite place to be.....I wonder if he will still feel that way in our cabin 6300?!? Ha Ha I guess he won't be kidding when he says that the casino is calling out to him!

That's what's wonderful about these boards...you get to learn a lot when other people have a bad experience. Thanks to the OP for posting, you'll save early-to-bed folks who read these boards from having to deal with the late night noise... :)

Everyone should always check the deck plans before chosing a cabin :) It can save you lots of grief. I also want to add that there is a lot to be said for chosing a cabin as opposed to getting a guarantee if you have noise issues.

Help! any thoughts on whether I should try to switch cabins 6395 and 6397? I'll manage with whatever happens but I also booked a cabin for someone else and I'll try and switch if there is a problem.

Not just night noise. If it is noisy during the day that would also be a worry. thanks
