BEWARE: Noise Alert for Cabins on Deck 6

Biggest problem with slamming doors we had in our recent Glory cabin

was inconsiderate neighbors somewhere close by, on our hallway

slamming-shut their cabin door every 5 mins. or so --on two nights.

Ladies and Gents....

* Your cabin and my cabin are not as sound-proof as we like to think! :)

* Your cabin door will close and lock just as securely

without slamming it shut like no-one else lives within a mile of you.

Thank you for your attention to these trivial matters.

6406 on Freedom is right above the disco.

if you want sleep don't book this room.

had same experience as you and guest services couldn't care less about it.

Moral of the story: before booking a Deck 6 cabin, consult your ship's Deck Plans beforehand

and have some idea of what'll be under your cabin.

Don't think there's much that Guest Services can do for you, mid-cruise -at 11:40 p.m.

All cabins are full, and there's simply nowhere to move you to?!

i also have two rooms on the 3/18/06 cruise on the liberty ..upper deck rooms- floor 6 , room numbers 6453 and 6449. Does anyone know about the noise level within these rooms. They are at the back of the ship over the victoria lounge.:p

We didn't have any issue with 6453 at all. Nice and quiet - yes, there is a lounge below you, but the "worst" thing that happens down there is a band that plays twice - the rest of the time, I think that was the punchliners club. Once or twice we heard a little bass (more felt than heard) but it wasn't anything that bothered us and if we'd been asleep when it started, it wouldn't have woken us up - not even sure it was from downstairs. It could have been a neighbor. No worries - enjoy your cruise.

I know this is rather late but I posted my noise complaint in another forum. Most people slammed me for not doing my 'research' before booking a cabin. Well, one of the last things you think about is what's above you. I was in cabin 8316 or whatever on the Liberty and it was right below the Lido deck where people sit at tables. All day and night people were moving furniture across the deck. My walls actually vibrated. People said I was nuts. I complained and had three ship's officers visit my cabin to validate my complaint, which they did. The ship was full, so no other cabins to move me to. I would say on that seven day cruise I must have slept a total of 10 hours. I informed Carnival that it really wasn't their fault as the builders failed to put insulation between the decks. And since Carnival is known as a party line anyway, I suppose most people don't mind the noise in the wee hours. I can take the drunks down the passageway but not the constant noise above me. I DIDN'T ask for compensation, yet some people said I didn't deserve any and some said I shouldn't have requested it. Dumb nuts. They did give me a paltry refund of $86.00 and 10% off another cruise. Needless to say I won't be sailing Carnival again. It's good to have a forum where people can report good and bad cabins on certain ships. If you get Deck 8, be darn sure you are not directly below the Lido midships. I heard people say they heard noise in the buffet area as well, but that area has carpet. There are also galleys there too. We sailed the Victory on Deck 10 and it was beautiful.

Here's a website for you to check your cabin locations - above and below.

http://www.cruisedeckplans.com - it allows you to SLIDE one deck over the other. A subscription fee is a good investment.

You admitted it wasn't carnivals fault, you didn't ask for compensation but you got it.... So what is the problem that you won't sail carnival again?

I think they enjoyed their cruise or not already... what you quoted was from 2006

And furthur more, HE picked the cabin, Carnival didn't tell him to go there. Let him go elsewhere, guess what? Other lines also have Lido's, or decks for eating too. Oh, I forgot, only people on Carnival do things like pull a chair up to their table!:p

Going on the Liberty for a B2B, does anyone have any info on cabin 6275 noise level?

I did check out the site that allows me to move the decks below and above me, it looked safe for noise....

Regardless, I'm not at work, on a boat and going to have an amazing time as usual!!!

Cheers,

6288 over the sports bar on Conquest class. It could be worse - at least it wasn't constant. But we heard every game loud and clear along with every boo and cheer from those watching. I might as well have been in the bar - it was really loud when there was a big game on. Plus a bit of elevators dinging and the singers from the atrium at night. Not a location I'd choose again.

We're also going to be B2B on the Liberty. Your second week is our first. And our cabin is a just a few doors down from you, 6269. Looking at the deck plans, I think we should be okay. At least I hope so!

These are the same inconsiderate people that slam doors at all hours in hotels. I would love to see what their doors look like at home or if they live in an apartment, what their neighbors think of them.

I've been in hotels where you can't slam the doors. The closers are set so that you cannot push them (slam) shut. They shut and lock by themselves. My cabin door on the Liberty could not be slammed either and I didn't hear any door slamming except for my neighbor's balcony door, which I excused due to the fact if they are not secure they will blow open in the middle of the night.

There are those that think about others and there are those that just don't give a damn. Whenever I'm disturbed by slamming doors, I wait for them to do it again and note the room number. I'll either call the desk or politely ask them myself to refrain from doing it. Of course when I approach them myself, I have my little equalizer with me.

There we go again. People injecting what they want into my postings. WHERE did I say I picked the cabin? I DIDN'T. Carnival picked it for me. So there. And if you think a 10% cruise discount and $86 bucks is compensation, I would like to live in your world. And furthermore, Carnival isn't the type of company the caters to our age group. Now what are you going to read into this post?

You're missing the point. Carnival gave you compensation when you didn't ask for it(and then you complained about how little you got when you didn't ask for it in the first place). And you admitted it wasnt their fault... So WHY are you not sailing them again?

Do you think other lines don't have lido decks above cabins?

That's the risk you take when you book a guarantee.

This is what you posted yesterday:

This does kind of imply that you had some part in paying attention to (or in your case not paying attention to) where the cabin was even if it was a cabin selected for you by the cruise line.

I don't book GTY cabins anymore for this very reason.

I think it is our individual responsibility to check out these issues and resolve them before the cruise begins. To expect any kind of compensation for not paying closer attention is uncalled for.

My family had this problem on two ships, the Conquest (rm 1257) and the Glory (rm 1253). Both times I reported a banging sound that was coming from the deck below. Both times we were given 10% discounts on a future cruise.

We have been on four Carnival Cruises, our next cruise is on the Liberty and never had a problem with staff. :)

I had a noisy cabin once by the stairwell and I never complained about it because and it was my fault for booking the location. I only booked this cabin because I booked 2 weeks before sailing and availability was slim-pickins. Getting a 10% discount on a future cruise was generous of Carnival to give you that. I study the deck plans very carefully and if I am not sandwiched between cabins on all sides, I don't book unless it is clear on the deck plan that I am above or below a quiet area such as a library, dining room, gift shops etc. No way would I book above or below the lido deck, the galley, the disco's, the casino and show lounge etc. Too many variables that cause noise and not worth it if you need a good nights sleep.
