4774Papa Posted August 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2017 Flying into Boston, cruise to Quebec City then train back to Boston? I know there is a nice rail trip from Montreal to NYC, but is there a good connection from QC to Boston?
maryann ns Posted August 18, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2017 You can take a bus or train to Montreal. https://www.rome2rio.com/s/Quebec/Montreal
138east Posted August 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2017 No good train connections from Quebec to Boston. Bus is an option Montreal to Boston. How about a one way car rental?
Earl Rosebery Posted August 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2017 There is no train service from Quebec City to Boston other than a giant detour via Montreal and NYC. one way cross border rental would be rather expensive. It's about an 8 hr drive at best. A multi city air ticket is probably your best option.
138east Posted August 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2017 Price out the one way car rental before you decide. It's a 400 mile drive estimated at 6.5 hours. Flights are pricey between Boston and Quebec.

Jolie_Cruiser Posted August 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 22, 2017 Taking the train (Via Rail), or the bus (Orléans Express), is only worth it in my view if you want to spend some time in Montréal. More info. on this in the Anything Québec (Quebec) City thread post # 30 As other posters have suggested, renting a car to go back to Boston can be worth it. Many cruisers, especially families, do that every year. Make sure you bring a GPS with you as road signs in Québec are in French. Since June, WestJet, a Canadian airline has several flights between Québec City (YQB) and Montréal (YUL). For now, the price of the tickets are reasonable and the airline shares codes with Delta, AA, United... Starting in October, it will fly from Montréal to Boston also. So that means that flying from Québec City is much more affordable for now. To have an overview of prices from YQB here is a good flight comparison map The closest cities to Québec City and Montréal do not necessarily have the best flight deals. It can be almost the same price to fly to California than to NYC...
Earl Rosebery Posted August 22, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 22, 2017 A question for the OP. Why the need to get back to Boston?
4774Papa Posted August 22, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted August 22, 2017 A question for the OP. Why the need to get back to Boston? Good point, I thought taking the train might be interesting, but probably the best choice is doing an open jaw flying out of QC.
